'Worst film EVER!' Why War of The Worlds is being hated on with zero per cent

Despite earning a withering 0 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has found an audience... or at least viewers curious enough to press play. Whether they finish it is another story. But Prime doesn't care. The title is recognisable. Ice Cube is recognisable. And the content, like many aliens in past versions of this story, is disposable.

Netflix's 'female John Wick' thriller with 91% score that's better than Keanu Reeves spin-off

It was released before the actual female-led spin off movie A Netflix action thriller film is a 'female John Wick' that according to critics is better than the Keanu Reeves spin-off. ‌ Earlier this year, Ana de Armas starred in the hotly anticipated movie set within the same universe of the hit franchise. The No Time To Die and Knives Out star took on the role of a ballerina turned assassin, who avenges the death of her father. ‌ However, back in 2023, a movie that just so happened to share the same name, was released on the streaming giant's platform. It also shared similarities in its themes and premise. It's no wonder, many viewers were quick to also dub it a ' female John Wick ' before fans actually got that film from the studio. ‌ A South Korean made production, the film's story follows Ok-ju, who is grieving the loss of a best friend she could not protect Herself a former bodyguard, she sets out to fulfil her dear friend's last wish: sweet, sweet revenge. It managed an impressive 91% rating on website Rotten Tomatoes following its initial release. Critics were impressed with the action and overall aesthetic of the movie. ‌ One reviewer wrote: "Ballerina is one of the best-looking films of the year, and it features some of the best action that I have ever seen." Another, quick to compare it to the Keanu Reeves led series added: "It's not as refined but it's basically John Wick meets Kill Bill! Jeon Jong-seo was incredible and Kim Ji-hoon is great as the villain. Badass fights, amazing soundtrack - go watch this movie!" ‌ Many fans share a similar opinion, as one posted online: "Ballerina isn't your typical revenge flick — it's an emotion-fuelled rage spiral wrapped in neon, blood, and minimalist storytelling. Think of it like John Wick met Drive and then had a silent breakdown in a parking lot at 3AM. It's slick, sad, and beautifully brutal." They continued: "What makes Ballerina hit hard is its aesthetic and tone. This isn't a dialogue-heavy film. Ok-ju barely speaks. The plot doesn't spoon-feed you. It trusts the audience to feel it. Her grief? Internal. Her fury? Explosive. Her movements? Silent but surgical. She's not here to philosophise. She's here to end the rot — one bullet, one blade, one scumbag at a time. "The film doesn't waste time on fluff. It's lean, mean, and visually stunning. Cinematography is chef's kiss — lots of long takes, moody lighting, gritty pink-neon textures, and empty spaces that mirror her emotional void. The violence is fast, artistic, almost balletic — which, no doubt, ties beautifully into the metaphor of the title." Someone else commented: "Thrilling, very well written and directed. Ballerina is action revenge flick that full of personality, good performances and unique style. Of course the movie not add nothing new in the genre, but technically is impeccable. Overall is one of this year best gems."

Netflix fans say 'they should have stopped' at season one despite show dominating number one spot

Jenna Ortega stars in the leading role of Wednesday - however not everyone has been left impressed as the second series landed on the streaming giant. Netflix viewers have been left unimpressed with the second series of a popular show, despite it currently sitting at number one on the streaming platform's official charts. Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega, has returned to front the gothic comedy-drama for a second run. ‌ Despite it receiving raving reviews first time around, it appears both critics and viewers feel it should have wrapped up after one series. Although it ranks top most-watched on Netflix currently, with a high score on Rotten Tomatoes at 83 per cent, reviews are mixed. ‌ The official synopsis for the show reads: "While attending Nevermore Academy, Wednesday Addams attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a killing spree and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago." ‌ Many of the negative critiques all say the same thing. "They should have stopped after season 1. Remember when they tried to make a Napoleon Dynamite cartoon? That cartoon was better than this," one viewer said. Someone else added: " Great cast, however, incredibly boring and cliche. They just rehash the same ideas and plots from last season and don't accomplish anything new." It has been labelled as "disappointing" by some. "I'm really disappointed with this season. The show has lost its edge predictable plotlines and weak writing have replaced the suspense and creativity that made it great. I won't be finishing Season 2," wrote one viewer. Another even described it as "unwatchable" as they said: "I loved season 1. Season 2 is really, really bad. It is nearly unwatchable. The writing is lazy to the point of absurdity." ‌ "What happened?," questioned another. "Everything that made the first season great is gone. Everything that was witty, clever, dark or edgy about Season 1 has been flensed away." Another viewer noted: "I found the choice of music and Wednesday's wardrobe in Season 2 occasionally felt out of place compared to Season 1. I also sensed a shift in Jenna Ortega's portrayal — Wednesday seems notably different in tone." "A bit disappointed with the first part of season 2. Especially in the first 2 episodes I was extremely bored. Wednesday's dialogues seemed to me so superficial and without any depth, like her lines have been produced from an AI tool..," someone else said. ‌ Another viewer chimed: "Season 1 was good. Season 2 is as if they needed to come out with something." However, not everyone had the same opinion, with some fans of the show already looking forward to a highly-anticipated third series. ‌ One viewer wrote: "Season 2 is so freaking amazing and ICONIC!!! Super excited even more for the rest of the season!!!," as another added: Someone else said: "Huge improvement on Season 1, much more aligned with the Addams Family universe with plenty of references to previous Addams films and series." One critic voiced: "Jenna Ortega again delivers a spellbinding performance as Nevermore Academy's Sherlock Holmes."

Netflix fans say 'greatest movie of all time' now available to stream

One of the 'greatest movies of all time' has now become available to watch on Netflix, with viewers saying it's even better than they remember A beloved cinematic masterpiece hailed as a trailblazing movie has just dropped on Netflix, much to the delight of fans. ‌ Touted as exceptional and utterly remarkable, the film has garnered a slew of five-star accolades since its debut on the streaming platform. ‌ Jurassic Park is celebrated as a 'shining pillar' in crafting a 'summer blockbuster', according to one critic's praise. ‌ Another said: "It's not just the dinosaurs that make this film such a fun watch but the cast and the characters as well." Viewers commend the film for withstanding the ravages of time, lauding 'legend' Steven Spielberg and the 'outstanding screenplay' by Michael Crichton and David Koepp, reports the Express. One fan highlighted the ensemble's performances, noting how each actor fit their role 'perfectly', with special mentions for Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough, and Wayne Knight. ‌ An ardent fan commented on Rotten Tomatoes: "Another ground breaking film created by the legend Steven Spielberg. "Jurassic Park is one of the most fun adventures on film I can think of. Everyone loves dinosaurs; kids and adults alike. ‌ "It's not just the dinosaurs that make this film such a fun watch but the cast/characters as well and not to mention that beautiful score. The CGI (computer-generated imagery) still holds up very well today making Jurassic Park a timeless classic." One viewer succinctly hailed Jurassic Park as the ultimate cinematic experience for dino enthusiasts, while others penned extensive tributes to the film. On Rotten Tomatoes, Percy F shared his admiration: "Dino go rawr! The original Jurassic Park is an absolutely incredible film. ‌ "From the brilliant direction of Steven Spielberg, and the outstanding screenplay from Michael Crichton and David Koepp, Jurassic Park proves to be a shining pillar of how to make a summer blockbuster. "The performances of everyone in the cast fit their roles perfectly, with stand outs being Jeff Goldblum, Richard Attenborough and Wayne Knight. ‌ "The script is impressively thoughtful, with the debate over the morality of bringing back extinct dinosaurs, as well as life's ability to succeed under the most impossible of circumstances. "However, the most outstanding parts of Jurassic Park is without a doubt its blend of practical and special effects, the movie is only as good as its ability to bring the dinosaurs to life, and boy does it. "I can only imagine seeing this movie in theatres in 93, and how mind blowing these effects had to have been for the time - even more impressive is the fact that they still hold up in 2025. ‌ "Plus, I always have a soft spot for any movie willing to use practical effects and puppets, but who can blame me. It helps make the dinosaurs feel real!". "The only knock I have against this film is also a piece of additional praise for the film. "Spielberg is a master at crafting suspenseful and exciting action sequences and Jurassic Park fully delivers on that regard. "Unfortunately, the action sequences are occasionally at the expense of real logic, if I'd been suspending my disbelief once or maybe twice, I might be able to justify not taking off half a point. "However, there were three moments throughout the film that forced me into a corner when it came to my suspension of disbelief, thus taking off half a star from what is otherwise a practically flawless film." You can get comfortable for an evening indoors and binge-watch the entire trilogy, as the initial two sequels 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' and 'Jurassic Park III' are equally accessible for streaming on Netflix.
