The Marvellous Miniatures Workshop (w/t) hosted by Sara Cox has been commissioned for BBC One and iPlayer
These special, one-off models, will not only celebrate cherished and emotional family stories, but also tap into our collective cultural heritage around events, design and fashions, or common themes. Whether it is a life event, a snap-shot of mid-century design or a memory tied to trends of the past, these models will serve as tiny yet powerful windows into the way things were.
To ensure the models are as authentic as possible, the miniaturists must embark on an investigative journey to uncover the personal stories behind each request, as well as dig into historical and cultural references to craft them as true and realistic as possible.
MGM Alternative will use the latest technology and microscopic cameras to get up close and personal, capturing the minute details and craft that goes into creating these special models.
Audiences will be taken on an emotional journey from start to finish, from meeting the people who want to capture their special moment, their background on why it's so important to them, to the research that goes into getting every detail correct.
There will be challenges along the way, from identifying accurate furnishing colours and materials from over half a century ago, to recreating interiors and buildings that have long since been derelict. At the end of each episode is the big reveal; Have our Miniaturists faithfully re-created the place of so many memories for our contributors? And how will they react when they see their childhood memories brought back to life?

Bear Grylls helps people rebuild relationships in new series Wild Reckoning
BBC Daytime and BBC Cymru Wales have co-commissioned Wild Reckoning, a new 16-part series from Wrexham-based Tŷ'r Ddraig, part of Banijay UK's Workerbee Group, fronted by Bear Grylls for BBC One and iPlayer. The series will see Bear Grylls and a team of experts help people to resolve deep personal rifts in the Welsh wilderness. Bear, alongside his team of mediators, psychologists and survival mentors, will guide participants through intense emotional journeys — combining conflict resolution with the raw, revealing power of nature. Expect to see feuding families and broken friendships to neighbour disputes and long-standing workplace grudges, this series will tackle some everyday problems and challenges faced by anyone and everyone. From his island home off the North Wales coast, Bear will strip contributors of their everyday comforts and set them on a transformative adventure in the Welsh wilderness. Here, through carefully constructed physical and psychological challenges, they'll be forced to confront their issues and work together to rebuild their fractured relationships. Bear Grylls says: 'I've spent a lifetime learning from the wild and above all I believe in its power to heal. Away from the noise and distractions of daily life, we're giving people the chance to reflect, reconnect, and rebuild. But nothing comes for free. The price is often courage to face the scary, and the humility to walk side by side respectfully with others. BBC confirms future of Celebrity Traitors in major series announcement
EXCLUSIVE: Celebrity Traitors is on the way and fans of the popular entertainment show hosted by Claudia Winkelman don't have long to wait to watch the famous faces take on the roundtable The BBC have confirmed when Celebrity Traitors can expect to air. The smash hit reality show hosted by Claudia Winkleman has taken the world by storm with the British edition becoming a staple of the BBC's annual calendar. A spin-off version has since been filmed with celebrities instead of civilians and fans don't have long to wait to watch the drama unfold. Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival 2025, Syeda Irtizaali, Interim BBC Director of Unscripted, confirmed that the series would premiere in October 2025. She said, "I was worried about how they were going to play it compared to members of the public, but we have nothing to worry about. Some of the things you'll see them doing are extraordinary." The star-studded line-up for the celebrity spin-off was previously confirmed as actor Stephen Fry, actor Mark Bonnar, comedian Lucy Beaumont, content creator Niko Omilana, comedian Nick Mohammed, EastEnders star Tameka Empson, singer Paloma Faith, Olympian Tom Daley, and actor Ruth Codd. Also, singer Cat Burns, comedian Alan Carr, singer Charlotte Church, actor Celia Imrie, broadcaster Clare Balding, historian David Olusoga, former England rugby player Joe Marler, comedian Joe Wilkinson, broadcaster Kate Garraway, and TV presenter Jonathan Ross. The BBC also previously confirmed that the main Traitors series will also return for its fourth run in early 2026, likely keeping its usual winter slot. Previously addressing what fans can expect from Celebrity Traitors, host Claudia said: "We're incredibly lucky these brilliant people have said yes. "I'd love to say we'll take it easy on them and they'll just wander round the castle and eat toast for a couple of weeks but that would be a lie." BBC executive says corporation ‘acted fast' after Gregg Wallace allegations
The BBC's chief content officer has said the corporation 'acted fast' after misconduct allegations against former MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace. Wallace, 60, issued an apology saying he was 'deeply sorry for any distress caused' and that he 'never set out to harm or humiliate', after a review said 45 out of 83 allegations made against him were upheld. Advertisement Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Kate Phillips said: 'I think when complaints came to me about Greg Wallace, which was 2019, when I dealt with it, I always dealt with it straightaway. Former MasterChef presenters John Torode and Gregg Wallace (BBC/ShineTV/PA) 'So there were two complaints. I dealt with them. I acted on them fast. 'I think we weren't as joined-up in the BBC as we are now, so I didn't know about some of the historical things that had taken place. 'So if I'd known about those at the time, yes, I may have acted differently, but I acted on the information I was given. Advertisement 'I think I acted responsibly. I left him in no doubt of the expected behaviour that we expect at the BBC, if you like. 'I stand by the actions I took at the time with the knowledge that I had.' She added: 'Other allegations didn't come to us until much later, sort of at the end of 2023, and at that point we did act, and we acted fast.' In November 2024, the show's production company, Banijay UK, announced that Wallace would step away from his role on MasterChef while historical allegations of misconduct were investigated. Advertisement At the time, a BBC spokesman said it took any issues raised with them 'seriously' and 'any behaviour which falls below the standards expected by the BBC will not be tolerated'. The report found that the 'majority of the allegations against Mr Wallace (94%) related to behaviour which is said to have occurred between 2005 and 2018', and only one allegation was substantiated after 2018. Of the substantiated claims outlined in the report, some related to inappropriate language, being in a state of undress, and one case of unwanted physical contact. Wallace's co-presenter John Torode was the subject of an allegation of using racist language, which was upheld, as part of the Lewis Silkin report, and also left the show. Advertisement The 21st series of MasterChef, which was filmed last year and stars Torode and Wallace, is currently airing on BBC One. Two MasterChef contestants have been edited out of the series after deciding they would not like to be included, following the report. Phillips also spoke about the controversy around BBC's Gaza: How To Survive A Warzone documentary, which was removed from BBC iPlayer in February after it emerged that the child narrator, Abdullah, is the son of Ayman Alyazouri, who has worked as Hamas's deputy minister of agriculture. Asked if the controversy would impact future commissioning from an impartiality perspective, she said: 'Impartiality is at the core of everything we do. Advertisement 'We will always commission those sort of brave, strong stories and tell the stories that need to be heard. And I'm very confident we'll keep doing that going forward.' Before Phillips was announced as the permanent chief content officer of the BBC earlier this year, she was controller of BBC One, after leading its entertainment team and BBC Worldwide's formats team.
