Young Thug announces first live performance since prison release

Express Tribune25-02-2025

Young Thug has announced his first live performance since his release from jail following a plea deal.
The rapper is set to headline the Les Ardentes festival in Belgium on July 5, marking his first show since his 2022 arrest. While fans eagerly anticipate his return to the stage, Thug has yet to make a public comment on the announcement and has not scheduled any U.S. concerts, despite his plea deal requiring him to perform four charity gigs per year.
Thug's silence could be due to ongoing legal issues. He is involved in a lawsuit with Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), a major music company, which claims that Thug signed a $5.25 million loan agreement in 2017. After allegedly failing to repay the loan, AEG asserts that Thug forfeited rights to his publishing and live performance promotions.
AEG previously sued him in 2022 for breach of contract, accusing him of independently booking concerts and keeping all proceeds, despite AEG holding exclusive rights to his performances.
The rapper is also fighting the government over possessions seized during raids on his home, including cash, jewelry, and several luxury cars, such as a 2022 Porsche 911 and a 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLS Maybach.
While the lawsuit's outcome remains uncertain, Thug's upcoming Belgium show will be a significant milestone in his return to live performances.

Kid Cudi thanks fans after explosive testimony in Diddy trial

Rapper and actor Scott Mescudi, known as Kid Cudi, broke his silence following his dramatic testimony in Sean 'Diddy' Combs' ongoing federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial. Taking to social media, Cudi expressed gratitude to fans for their support during the stressful period, saying, 'I just want to say thank you so much... You guys are the best, I love y'all. This is a stressful situation, and I'm glad it's behind me.' Cudi's testimony in the Manhattan federal court detailed his brief romantic relationship with R&B singer Cassie Ventura in 2011 and the troubling incidents that followed. He recounted how Combs allegedly orchestrated a break-in at his Hollywood Hills home, describing how Combs and an associate entered without permission. Cudi found evidence of the intrusion, including opened Christmas gifts and his dog locked in a bathroom, visibly distressed. He contacted police and filed a report. Weeks later, Cudi testified that his Porsche 911 convertible was set ablaze outside his home. Prosecutors presented photos showing fire damage and a Molotov cocktail found inside the vehicle. Although no direct evidence linked Combs to the arson, emails surfaced revealing threats from Combs toward Cudi and Cassie. Despite tensions, Cudi described a later meeting with Combs and Cassie where Combs appeared 'calm' but 'off-putting.' Under cross-examination, Cudi admitted feeling 'played' by Cassie, acknowledging she had misled him about her ongoing relationship with Combs. The trial continues with prosecutors advancing allegations of abuse and retaliation by Combs, who denies all charges. Cudi's testimony has drawn wide attention, sparking discussions in the hip-hop community about loyalty and the boundaries of testimony in high-profile legal cases. Following the testimony, rapper Young Thug briefly called Cudi a 'rat' on Twitter, a comment he quickly deleted, fueling debate over loyalty and snitching in hip-hop culture.

Kid Cudi admits Cassie Ventura ‘played' him, in his action-packed Diddy trial testimony

Rapper and actor Scott Mescudi, better known as Kid Cudi, took the witness stand Thursday in the sex trafficking trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs, providing testimony about his relationship with R&B singer Cassie Ventura and incidents he alleges involved Combs. Mescudi, dressed casually in jeans, a leather jacket, and a white T-shirt, told the Manhattan federal court that he met Cassie in 2008 and briefly dated her in 2011. At the time, he believed Cassie and Combs, her former boyfriend, were no longer involved. 'She and Sean Combs had some problems and they weren't dating anymore,' he said. According to Mescudi, in late 2011, Cassie called him in distress, saying Combs had discovered their relationship. 'She sounded really stressed, nervous, scared,' he recalled. Mescudi said he went to pick her up and took her to the Sunset Marquis hotel in West Hollywood to keep her 'off the radar' and away from Combs. While there, he received a call from Combs' assistant Capricorn Clark, who was 'on the verge of tears' and reported that Combs and an associate had entered Mescudi's Hollywood Hills home without permission. Mescudi said he immediately drove home, calling Combs on the way. He asked, 'Motherf***er, are you in my house?' Combs calmly replied, 'I want to talk to you.' Upon arrival, Mescudi found evidence of a break-in: Christmas gifts he had purchased were opened, and his dog was locked in a bathroom. He described his dog as 'very jittery' after being confined. Uncertain about Combs' intentions, Mescudi contacted the police and filed a report. Weeks later, Mescudi testified that his Porsche 911 convertible was set on fire while parked at his home. Photos displayed in court showed significant damage to the car's fabric roof and a Molotov cocktail discovered inside. Though no direct evidence linked Combs to the arson, prosecutors highlighted an email from Cassie stating that Combs threatened harm against Mescudi and herself. The following day, Mescudi met with Combs and Cassie at the Soho House hotel in Los Angeles in an attempt to resolve tensions. He described Combs as 'calm' but 'off-putting,' comparing his posture to a 'Marvel supervillain.' When Mescudi confronted Combs about the car fire, Combs denied any involvement, responding with a 'cold stare' and saying, 'I don't know what you're talking about.' Mescudi testified that despite his suspicions, he eventually made peace with the situation. Several years later, the two unexpectedly crossed paths again at the same hotel, where Combs offered an apology for 'all the bullsh#t,' which Mescudi accepted. Under cross-examination, Combs' lawyer Brian Steel questioned Mescudi's account and portrayed Cassie as living a 'double life,' suggesting she had misled both men about her relationships. Mescudi acknowledged Cassie had not been honest about still seeing Combs while dating him and said he felt 'played' by her. The trial continues as prosecutors present further allegations of abuse and retaliation tied to Combs, who denies all charges. Cassie Ventura's prior testimony detailed alleged years of abuse during her decade-long relationship with Combs.
