Fan removed from stadium after racist abuse claim
Reports of the abuse came during the warm-up ahead of a pre-season friendly between Bolton and Preston North End at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday.
A Wanderers statement said the club "unequivocally condemned" the alleged behaviour of the fan and said it was co-operating with "all relevant authorities" including the police.
Preston said its staff were supporting the player affected and it was "grateful" to Bolton staff for taking "swift action".
'No place in football'
Bolton Wanderers said in a statement: "We extend our full support to the affected player.
"Such behaviour has no place in football or society; it stands in direct opposition to the values of respect and inclusion our club upholds."
Bolton finished the tie 2-0 winners with goals from Amario Cozier-Duberry and Joel Randall.
