A story of a business union turned personal, Clare and English golf star Tommy Fleetwood have disrupted the game both on the field and at home. It all started, so it is an unlikely circumstance: she was his representative.
Their 23-year age gap played a part in the initial rejection, but they soon grew closer, eventually marrying, starting a family, and being 'each other's greatest advocates'.
How Tommy Fleetwood and Clare's love story began and blossomed
The first meeting between Tommy and Clare was in 2015, when Clare worked at Hambric Sports Management with Tommy's brother Joe. The agency's then-forced vice president of Europe, Clare, quickly became Tommy's manager. Clare initially rejected him, saying,
'We've got a 23-year age difference.
Of course, I turned him down. I was like, 'Don't be stupid.'
She recalled this on one of her appearances on the Performance People podcast.
But the two did not cut off the string. You eventually became used to working together, whilst developing feelings for each other. Tommy explained that when they first started dating, they agreed their work and home lives would have nothing to do with each other, but he soon realized he couldn't find someone he trusted more than Clare.
This trust helped in embracing both roles in their lives.

Commitment, family and getting over public perception
The couple's relationship deepened swiftly. The two got engaged in mid-2017 and married in a small beach ceremony in the Bahamas a few months later. Clare then gave birth to their son, Franklin ("Frankie") Fleetwood, in September of that same year. Clare also had two sons from a previous relationship, Oscar and Mo, who are both now immersed in golf and frequently accompany Tommy to tournaments.

The two, who have been an item since 2003, have been eviscerating the gossip mill whenever the age gap chatter arises. They never had a problem with it, although Tommy said they do get comments every once in a while. He jokingly suggested that maybe it would go unquestioned if the other way around. Together, they've only grown closer despite criticism from the outside, scrutinizing their relationship.
In a world often cynical about unconventional relationships, the Fleetwood story is one of trust, mutual respect, and making each other the best version of themselves.
