Chandigarh: Youth attacked by pet German Shepherd in Sector 21
A 23-year-old man was attacked by a pet German Shephard outside House Number 230 in Sector 21-A on Thursday evening.
The victim, Kartik Gandhi, a resident of Dera Bassi, sustained multiple injuries after being bitten several times by the dog, allegedly unleashed by its owner.
According to the complaint filed by Gandhi at the Sector-19 police station, he had parked his car near the residence of the dog owner while visiting his office in the vicinity. After concluding his work around 6.30 pm, he returned to his vehicle accompanied by a friend, Abhimanyu Bisnoi, when the dog was reportedly let loose by its female owner. The dog is said to have charged at both men. While Bisnoi managed to escape, Gandhi was bitten on both his wrists, ankle and right hip.
The complainant alleged that even as the attack unfolded, the dog owner, a security guard and another individual stood by and watched. He further stated that the guard mocked him, threatened him with further consequences, and asked him to 'park the car again near their house' in a menacing tone. Gandhi was rushed to GMSH, Sector 16, and subsequently to City Hospital in Sector 8-C due to increasing pain and semi-consciousness.
On Gandhi's complaint, police lodged an FIR under Sections 291 and 351(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.

Cops attacked in bid to rescue wedding procession vehicle in Azamgarh, 17 arrested
Varanasi: At least five police personnel were injured and their vehicle was damaged when they reached Barra village under Bardah police station in Azamgarh district on Friday night to resolve a dispute involving a wedding procession. A police public response vehicle (PRV) was also damaged in the attack. The station officer was admitted to a hospital while a named FIR against 34 natives of Barra village was lodged under sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita(BNS), 7 CL Act, and the Prevention of Damages to Public Property Act. By Saturday night, police arrested 17 accused, including Phool Chand, Sarvesh, Lucky, Gautam, Akash, Sinku, Vipin, Chandresh, Ritik, Rakesh, Vishal, Manoj, Sharmila, Shivmurat, Sangam, Manku, and Rishabh from Barra. Teams were carrying out raids to nab other 17 accused, said the SP. The incident started when some locals intercepted a wedding procession passing through Barra village and held an SUV hostage over objections to the loud volume of DJ music. When the public response vehicle of police arrived and the cops attempted to pacify the crowd, tensions escalated. The villagers turned violent and started hurling bricks at the officers. Additional police forces were rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control, and senior officers also reached the site. Delhi: 9-year-old sexually assaulted, killed, body stuffed in bag
In a gruesome murder that unfolded on Saturday evening, a nine-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered by her 30-year-old neighbour at his house near Dayalpur in northeast Delhi, after which he stuffed her body in a suitcase to hide it, police officers said on Sunday. The accused went absconding shortly after the girl's family started searching for her. Police have identified him and have initiated a search, officers said. The grisly crime led to widespread outrage in the area, with the family members of the girl and locals staging a protest. Security personnel were deployed in the area to ensure law and order, officers said. According to police and the family members, the girl, a Class 5 student at a local government school and a resident of Dayalpur, left her house at around 7pm to give 'ice to another relative who lives nearby. While on her way, the accused, who lives in a second floor flat in a six-storey building in the area, allegedly asked the girl to come to his house on the pretext of delivering his house keys which had fallen on the road, police said. Locals and her family alleged that he had deliberately thrown the keys to convince the girl to come. Around 7.30pm, when the girl did not return, the family enquired about her from the relative, but they told him that she had not come to their house. The family then began a search. The family said they did not know who the original owner of the house was. The accused took advantage of the fact and absconded, said a police officer, asking not to be named. When the family came to know about the man's disappearance, they immediately broke open the door of his house. On entering, they found a suitcase on the floor. When they opened it, they found the girl's body stuffed inside, with injury marks on her lips and face. 'She was unconscious and unresponsive. She was partially undressed, and bleeding from her genitalia. We rushed her to a nearby nursing home, where doctors declared her dead. On examination, they found that she was sexually assaulted,' the girl's 42-year-old father said. Joint commissioner of police (east) Vijay Kumar said they were informed at 8.41pm Saturday. Police reached the spot, and found the girl had been taken to a hospital by her father, where she was declared brought dead. 'Prima facie, doctors observed visible injuries on her face and alleged sexual assault,' he said. Police suspect that the girl died due to smothering or strangulation. The exact reason will be established on the basis of a pending autopsy report. A case of murder and sexual assault was registered under sections 103 and 66 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Police said the accused is mini-goods vehicle driver, married and is originally from Hapur in UP. 'Teams are conducting raids to nab the accused, who has been identified,' said Kumar. The girl is survived by her parents, grandparents and two younger brothers. The crime sparked outrage in the area — locals and the girl's relatives allegedly vandalised the house of the accused on Saturday night, while on Sunday, nearly 200 people staged a protest at Dayalpur Nala Road, disrupting traffic movement. Security personnel, including personnel from Tripura State Rifles, were deployed in the neighbourhood. Political parties also reacted to the grisly crime. The AAP criticised the ruling BJP — former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said the law and order situation has worsened under the current regime. While Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva too condemned the crime and demanded arrest of the accused, he hit back at the AAP for politicising the issue. 'To reduce these incidents to mere law and order issues is political cunningness.'

Ludhiana: Groom's dad attacked over inter-caste marriage tiff
A man was allegedly kidnapped and assaulted in Ludhiana by the family members of a woman who had recently married against her their wish. The incident happened in Gill Colony, Daba, on Saturday night. The victim, Jayant Kumar, was reportedly taken from his home by the woman's angry relatives after his son, Sooraj Kumar, married Mandeep Kaur through court on June 3. The couple had gone into hiding after their marriage. Sooraj's mother, Sarita Devi, said her son worked in a private company and was in a relationship with Mandeep, his colleague. Despite opposition from Mandeep's family, they got married and went to live together at an unknown location. Sarita said that on June 7, Mandeep's brothers — Vikramjit, Jaswinder, and Narinder Singh — along with their uncle Manjeet Singh and an associate named Kaushal, came to their house and demanded to know the couple's location. When the family said they didn't know, the group forcefully took Jayant Kumar with them. 'They kidnapped my husband and left. I saw Kaushal, my son's friend, helping them. I called the police right away,' said Sarita. She added that after the police contacted the accused, they sent her husband back in an auto-rickshaw. He had been badly beaten. Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gurwinder Singh from Daba police station said an FIR has been registered under Sections 140(3) (kidnapping) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused, who are all from the Sahnewal area. He said arrests would be made soon. 'The medical report of Jayant Kumar is awaited. More charges could be added based on the report,' he said. Similar incident in May Earlier, on May 17, a woman was abducted from her home in Ghalib Kalan village by the enraged family members of a girl who had allegedly eloped with the woman's nephew. The Jagraon Sadar police rescued the woman within hours and arrested four persons involved in the crime within hours. The victim, Kirna Devi, aunt of migrant labourer Jai Kumar, was forcibly taken from her home around 11pm by four members of the aggrieved family. Jai Kumar, a native of Jhansi of Uttar Pradesh and currently working at a farmhouse in Ghalib Kalan, had reportedly eloped with a girl from the Jhansi-based family, promising to marry her. A case in connection with the elopement had already been registered against him at a police station in Jhansi.
