Ryan Coogler confirms he has a role for Denzel Washington in 'Black Panther 3': 'He's the greatest living actor'
It looks like the third time will be the charm for Ryan Coogler and the man he considers to be the greatest actor on the planet. During a recent podcast appearance, the writer and director behind the Marvel blockbusters Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever confirmed that he has crafted a role specifically for Denzel Washington in the planned third installment of the superhero franchise. "I've been trying to work with him since day one," Coogler said on the latest episode of 7PM in Brooklyn With Carmelo Anthony. "I think he's the greatest living actor. And in terms of what he means to our culture, forget about it. I've been talking to him about this for a long time, and I was surprised when he mentioned it. But it's not like it's not true." Coogler — who also cautioned that there's a lot of untrue information about his work floating around out there — was referring to Washington's surprise announcement last November that he'd be part of the cast of Black Panther 3. "I don't know how many more films I'm gonna make, probably not that many," Washington, 70, said on Australia's Today. "I want to do things I haven't done. I played Othello at 22. I am about to play Othello at 70 [on Broadway]. After that, I am playing Hannibal. After that, I've been talking with Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler's writing a part for me in the next Black Panther. After that, I'm gonna do the film Othello. After that, I'm gonna do King Lear. After that, I'm gonna retire." The following month, the two-time Oscar winner said he wasn't supposed to have revealed his involvement in the highly anticipated project, which Marvel has yet to officially announce. "I called [Coogler] the other day. I forgot what it was about — no, I called him to apologize," Washington said on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast. "That's right. I called him. I said, 'I'm sorry, man.' He's like, 'No, man, it's all good.' I FaceTimed, and right there next to him was his lady. They were editing. They were hanging out." The actor has a connection to the Black Panther franchise for reasons beyond Coogler's appreciation for his work in films such as Malcolm X and Training shared a bond with Chadwick Boseman, who starred as the title character, a.k.a. T'Challa, in the original Black Panther, before he died of colon cancer in 2020, at 43. The year before he died, Boseman honored Washington while presenting him with the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award, and along the way explained that Washington had been a silent benefactor who helped fund nine theater students from Howard University, including Boseman, to attend a summer program at Oxford. Boseman said then, "There is no Black Panther without Denzel Washington." Watch Coogler's full podcast appearance above. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Kevin Feige Talks Thunderbolts* Post-Credit Scene, If It Connects to Fantastic Four Movie
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently opened up about the mysterious post-credits scene in Thunderbolts* and what it could mean for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Speaking to Empire Magazine, Feige was asked about the post-credits scene. In it, the New Avengers can be seen talking about their lack of support from society when they notice a spaceship has entered orbit. After taking a look, the spaceship is revealed to be none other than the Excelsior, the Fantastic Four's ship. Although Feige confirmed that the ship does indeed look like the one that belongs to the group, he then teased that the ship might not be the 'same ship' people are thinking of. 'Their ship is the Excelsior, and there is a Fantastic Four ship entering the MCU . . . But I'm not sure they're the same ship,' Feige teased. Fans were quick to begin theorizing on what Feige could have meant. The leading theory for most fans is that the ship is being piloted by none other than Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. However, it remains to be seen when the post-credits scene is taking place, as many have also theorized the scene could be a moment from 2026's Avengers: Doomsday. Thankfully for fans, more information will come soon when The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives in theaters on July 25, 2025. (Source: Empire)

Kevin Feige Is Trying to Throw Us off the Scent of That ‘Fantastic Four' Tease
We all saw what happened after the credits of Thunderbolts. We jumped ahead a few months into the world of Avengers: Doomsday, and in a scene directed by Doomsday helmers Joe and Anthony Russo, Yelena and the rest of the New Avengers saw something very unique flying toward Earth. The movie is pretty upfront with what it wants us to think that is, but in a new interview, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is making us second-guess ourselves. As we've discussed previously, in the end credits scene, New Avengers get word of an 'extra-dimensional' ship entering Earth's atmosphere and see a ship with a giant '4' on the side flying through space. This is accompanied by a few notes of Michael Giacchino's score to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the only Marvel movie coming out between Thunderbolts and Doomsday. And, since all of the Fantastic Four and all of the New Avengers are in Doomsday, it doesn't take a genius to connect the dots. This is the Fantastic Four leaving their dimension and coming into the MCU. Or is it? Speaking in Empire Magazine (with a quote that isn't online yet but is apparently in print), Feige said the following in regards to the Thunderbolts/New Avengers end credits scene. 'Their ship is the Excelsior, and there is a Fantastic Four ship entering the MCU … But I'm not sure they're the same ship,' Feige said. Which means one of two things. One, Feige is just being Feige and trying to make people argue and debate about his movies with his trademark vague but admittedly fun statements. Or, two, he's giving us a new, crucial piece of the puzzle. For the record, we're guessing it's the first one. Clearly, Feige loves messing with us and sparking debate. He's been doing it for years and is all but impossible to get a straight answer out of, especially in terms of future movies. If there is any doubt about something, Feige will lean into it. So while the most obvious implication is that this is the Fantastic Four, we do not see any of the characters. There is, if you want to be literal, a bit of a grey area there. For argument's sake, let's say Feige's implications are real. This is a ship owned by or related to the Fantastic Four, but they aren't on it. What else could be happening? Maybe a character has stolen one of their ships? Maybe this is a later piece of the story and it's being sent empty for another reason? Or, is this a whole other multiversal Fantastic Four team? There are a million potential explanations, any one of which could be true. Or, because Yelena doesn't know what she's watching, because their computer system isn't aware of it, because we see the '4' and because we hear the music, it is indeed the Fantastic Four. Which way are you leaning? If Feige messing with us or setting us on the right path? Do you think we'll find out in Fantastic Four: First Steps or will we have to wait till December 2026 and Avengers: Doomsday? Let us know below.
