Galaxy S26 might be a worse phone in Europe—here's why

Samsung may be pausing its all-Snapdragon strategy. After using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 across the entire Galaxy S25 lineup, a new round of leaks suggests the upcoming Galaxy S26 may reintroduce Samsung's in-house Exynos chips—though only in certain markets.
According to multiple sources in the leaker community on X (formerly Twitter), the Galaxy S26 will feature the Exynos 2600 in Europe, while other markets such as North America and Asia will get Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 instead. The reported reason for this split is low initial production yields of Samsung's 2nm process, which is being used to manufacture the Exynos 2600.
Latest industry note related to Samsung:Exynos 2600 is indeed planned to be used in the S26.Currently, due to reportedly low yield, it is likely to be equipped mainly in European models.

If the leaks are accurate, the situation will be the same as with the Galaxy S22 series, which was also split the same way across the different markets. The users in Europe got the Exynos 2200 then, while the rest of the world got the arguably better Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
The thing is that it has never been fair when Samsung does this. Most of the time, the Exynos chipsets did not match those from Qualcomm in performance and power efficiency, which lead to a lot of criticism in 2022.
Samsung then released the S23 series with a Snapdragon chip across all regions, followed with another split for the S24 series, and then again going back to the unified Snapdragon strategy with the S25 this year.
The reports still don't say whether thi chip split will apply across the entire Galaxy S26 lineup, though. Earlier rumors suggested that only the Galaxy S26 and S26 Plus would get the Exynos 2600 in Europe, while the flagship S26 Ultra would have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 no matter the region.
It's hard to tell for sure, but there are two potential reasons.
It is still unclear why Samsung chooses to distribute the Exynos Galaxy S phones in Europe when it goes for the chip split strategy. It could be tied to supply constraints or internal cost structures.
Of course, Samsung hasn't confirmed any of these rumors regarding the Exynos 2600 or its strategy for 2026, so take this information with a grain of salt. However, if history is any indication, it seems like a likely scenario for the Galaxy S26 series.

Honor MagicPad 3 specs leak, revealing a controversial display change

Honor launched the MagicPad 2 tablet in July of last year, and so you may be expecting a successor to arrive pretty soon, and you'd be right, as it turns out. According to a new rumor out of China, the MagicPad 3 is on its way, and will be officially unveiled by the end of this month. Additionally, its main specs have been outed. Honor MagicPad 2 It's said to sport a 13.2" LCD screen with a high refresh rate. The exact one isn't mentioned but since the MagicPad 2's display had 144 Hz, we assume this will remain the same. The MagicPad 3 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of storage. It will support 66W wired charging, and will be offered in Moon Shadow White, Floating Gold, and Starry Sky Gray. Compared to its predecessor, the display tech has switched from OLED to LCD for price reasons, and the MagicPad 3 has an ever so slightly larger screen, and a faster chipset. It will be interesting to see the pricing - whether it remains the same or not, in light of the display tech switch that some may not like. Source (in Chinese)

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 unveiling location outed

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in early July at its next Unpacked event, according to a previous rumor, and today we have yet another rumor talking about the location that the company has chosen. According to this report from its home of Korea, the next Unpacked event will take place in New York City. We still don't have an exact date rumored, only "early July". Samsung last unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4 in New York in 2022, but that was a virtual event. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra teaser The last time it chose New York for a physical launch event (as the one next month should be) was in 2019 when it made the Galaxy Note10 official. So it's been a while, but it's now looking like Samsung is returning to the most iconic city in the US. Earlier today, the company teased the Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra, which may launch alongside the 'vanilla' Fold7 - or maybe these two are one and the same device, that's also a possibility. The Ultra could be an even higher-end book-style foldable compared to the Fold7, or it may be the name Samsung will choose to use for its oft-rumored tri-fold device. Undoubtedly, more rumors and leaks will surface between now and early next month to let us know more. Either way, it's looking like the next Unpacked event could be packing a lot of devices, considering the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is also likely to make its debut on that occasion. Source (in Korean)

Samsung Galaxy A17 to borrow a camera feature from its higher-end siblings

Samsung launched the Galaxy A16 back in October, and it's now working on its successor, the Galaxy A17. While we're most likely still a few months away from this model's introduction, a new rumor out of Korea today has some good news for those looking forward to its release. Apparently, the Galaxy A17's main camera will have optical image stabilization (OIS). Once a feature exclusive to flagships, this has trickled down Samsung's Galaxy A series of mid-rangers in the past few years, and now it seems like it's ready to make it to one of its entry-level devices as well. To keep costs down, Samsung is considering using an OIS system that uses springs, which is allegedly 20% cheaper compared to existing OIS implementations. Samsung Galaxy A16 So far, OIS has made it as low as the Galaxy A2x series with the A26 most recently featuring the tech. Obviously, Samsung wants to use the addition of OIS to the Galaxy A17 as a key differentiator compared to its competitors, and thus increase sales. Whether that works remains to be seen, but we are glad to see such features that used to be flagship-only not so many years ago making their way to even low-end handsets like this one.
