Rabat — More than 140 cyclists from 37 sporting clubs across Morocco competed in Saturday's Throne Cup road cycling championship in Azilal. The event celebrated the 26th anniversary of the Throne Day. Stoke City Closes in on RS Berkane's Lamine Camara
RS Berkane star Lamine Camara is close to joining Stoke City, after a swift agreement between the two clubs, during the current summer transfer window. Camara, 21-years-old, made 25 appearances in Morocco's Botola during the 2024–25 campaign, participated in nine Confederation Cup matches, and had a single appearance in the Throne Cup. The Senegalese midfielder has already arrived in England, as scheduled, to undergo his medical examination with Stoke City, before finalizing the deal. As reported by Micky Jnr, the contract offer for Lamine Camara is a four-year deal. RS Berkane wants €4–5 million for Camara, making it one of the biggest deals in the club's history. Yet the player's market value is estimated at €1.4 million on Transfer Market. The talented Senegalese midfielder played a pivotal role in RS Berkane, winning both the league title and the CAF Confederation Cup, in addition to being voted as the Best Foreign Player in the Moroccan league for the 2024–25 season. Camara has represented Senegal at every level — U17, U20, U23, and he now plays with the senior national team. Moroccan football legend Ahmed Faras passes away at 78
Former Moroccan international Ahmed Faras passed away on Wednesday in Mohammedia at the age of 78, after a long illness, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Sports Champions announced. Widely regarded as one of the greatest figures in Moroccan and African football, Faras left a lasting legacy with the Atlas Lions. As captain of the national team, he led Morocco to its only Africa Cup of Nations title in 1976. That same year, he was awarded the African Ballon d'Or, a prestigious honor recognizing his talent and impact across the continent. A legend of Chabab Mohammedia, Faras also left his mark on the domestic league. He was the top scorer in 1969 and 1973 and won the Throne Cup twice, in 1972 and 1975. His funeral will take place on Thursday in Mohammedia, following the Addohr prayer.
