Outstanding Tahfiz Students To Receive Full Scholarships At UniKL, UPTM
Ahmad Zahid said he would soon hold discussions with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki to realise this initiative.
'This 100 per cent scholarship is already a practice under MARA's Education Institutions (IPMA) for top-performing students, and this year, we will prioritise tahfiz school students for admission to UniKL and UPTM.
'These students are not only 'huffaz' (memorisers of the Quran) but will also go on to become professionals in their respective fields after graduation,' he said when met by reporters at the 2025 Huffaz Graduation and Ulul Albab excellence appreciation ceremony at Sekolah Menengah Imtiaz Ulul Albab Melaka here today.
Also present was chairman of the school's board of governors, Prof Datuk Dr Mizan Hitam, who is also a member of the Melaka Islamic Religious Council (MAIM).
A total of 82 students completed the memorisation of all 30 juzuk (chapters) of the Quran throughout 2024, while 46 students received SPM 2024 excellence awards during the ceremony.
On the upcoming National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Day 2025, to be held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) from June 11 to 13, Ahmad Zahid said the event would feature new and exciting elements this year.
He said these elements would include electric vehicles (EV), information technology (IT) and eSports.
'We're opening the doors wide for prospective students and participants to explore what TVET institutions across the country have to offer through exhibitions that showcase opportunities available to them once they enrol.

PUTRAJAYA: Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has recalled being slapped to the ground when he tried to defend a schoolmate from bullies during his student days. He said the incident occurred while he was studying at a military school and preparing for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination. "I once witnessed a bullying incident at school. When I tried to defend my friend, I was slapped so hard that I fell. "I've shared the story in my book, and my schoolmates who were there at the time have confirmed it. On the issue of bullying, he said that he shared his experience not out of resentment towards the perpetrator, but as a reminder of the need to keep schools safe. "Imagine if parents today were negligent in caring for their children to the point of injury, they could face criminal action. "Parents send their children to school with the hope that teachers will serve as their second parents. That is why we must respect the institution of schooling itself," he said.

Zahid urges defence forces to keep it clean, vows tough crackdown on corruption and collusion after recent arrests
PASIR SALAK, Aug 17 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has reminded defence and security forces personnel not to misuse their rank or position to commit unlawful acts. Ahmad Zahid said he supported Chief of Defence Force Gen Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar's stand that there would be no compromise in dealing with abuse of power. 'I agree with his statement that firm action will be taken against collusion involving military officers, not only as informants but also when directly involved,' he told reporters after officiating the Perak Community Development Department (Kemas) Santunan Desa Programme here today. Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, said abuse of power must be stopped as it could tarnish the image of the country's defence and security forces. 'I hope this serves as a stern reminder to others not to commit similar offences or engage in misconduct with the same intent,' he said. Last Wednesday, Bernama reported that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission had crippled a southern smuggling syndicate with the arrest of 10 people, including three serving and two former senior military officers. Zahid hopes Kemas permanent posts proposal included in budget 2026
PASIR SALAK: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed hope that the proposal to absorb contract staff of the Community Development Department (Kemas) into permanent positions will be included in the 2026 Budget. Ahmad Zahid, who is also Minister of Rural and Regional Development, said the plan was at the discussion stage and, if implemented, it would not involve the creation of new positions or any additional expenditure. "If this is implemented, it can serve as a benchmark for other contract positions to be converted into permanent posts without pension benefits. "We have requested for this to be expedited. If it brings benefits and does not create polemics, it is best to include it in the 2026 Budget," he told the media here on Sunday (Aug 17). Earlier, Ahmad Zahid had officiated the Perak Kemas Santunan Desa Programme with the Village Development and Security Committee and the Kemas Community at Dewan Besar Bandar Baru Felcra Seberang Perak. Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang; Special Officer to the Perak Menteri Besar for the Kampung Gajah state constituency, Khairul Azwan Harun, who is also Chairman of the Pasir Salak Parliamentary Kemas Community, as well as Kemas Director-General Datuk Mohd Hanafiah Man, were also present.
