Lady Gaga 'blacks out' in presence of Nine Inch Nails's Trent Reznor

Lady Gaga has joked she "blacks out" whenever she is in the presence of Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor.
During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Tuesday, the popstar explained that she was inspired by the rock band's 1994 album The Downward Spiral and single Closer when recording the song Disease for her new record, Mayhem.
When host Howard asked why she likes Closer so much, Gaga replied, "Because it's so good!"
And as to whether she has ever met Reznor, the Die with a Smile hitmaker - real name Stefani Germanotta - confirmed she had spoken with him multiple times.
"I forget the first time. I think I black out every time I'm in his presence," she joked, before adding: "He's an amazing musician."
Gaga also insisted she isn't "intimidated" by the prolific singer-songwriter.
"Just really excited, stoked, quiet," the 38-year-old added.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Gaga opened up about her complex relationship with fame while discussing the meaning of her song, Perfect Celebrity.
"I think in a way, when I was writing, I was feeling like there was the real me and there was the clone me. It's kind of one of the more angry songs I've ever written," she shared. "The song is a little bit of a retaliation against myself, and I'm just sort of trying to figure out as I go through it, how I feel about it all, and it's kind of a reckless tune, I think, in a way."
Gaga dropped her sixth studio album, Mayhem, last week.

Lady Gaga And Bruno Mars Score A Top 40 Bestseller (Again)

In only a few hours, it's likely that Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars will hit a very special milestone on multiple charts in the United Kingdom. Their collaboration 'Die with a Smile' isn't just living on multiple lists in that country — it remains a big win. When the Official Charts Company refreshes its rosters again, 'Die with a Smile' will almost certainly reach 52 weeks, or its first full year, on several tallies. The track is sitting in lofty enough positions that it's difficult to imagine it disappearing before it turns one year old on the chart. In fact, 'Die with a Smile' is improving, which helps its chances of becoming a one-year winner. 'Die with a Smile' Becomes a Top 40 Bestseller Gaga and Mars break back into the top 40 on a pair of charts in the U.K. this week. 'Die with a Smile' surges from just beneath that important region to No. 39 on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads tallies. A Rare Year-Long Bestseller It's relatively uncommon for songs to continue to sell well months — or even a year — after they are released. Streaming has taken over as the primary way for people to consume popular music, and while purchases do factor into where a track lands on the charts, sales usually drop off after a few frames, or even just a few days, and plays on sites like Spotify usually do the work to keep a cut present on various lists. 'Die with a Smile' is a top 40 bestseller in the U.K. just before it reaches its first year on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads rankings, and it could live inside that tier again when it celebrates the milestone. 'Die with a Smile' Wins on Multiple Rankings The Gaga/Mars team-up can also be found within the top 40 on the Official Singles Streaming chart. Last week, 'Die with a Smile' sat at No. 31, and this frame it increases its standing by two slots. On the Official Singles chart — the most competitive in the U.K. — the song steps up from No. 66 to No. 54. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars Reached No. 1 Together In the past, 'Die with a Smile' reached No. 1 on both sales charts. While it didn't quite conquer either the Official Singles or Official Singles Streaming rankings, it came very close, stalling at No. 2 on each. Bruno Mars Scores Multiple Big Hits Mars claims two massive hits in the U.K. this week, as his collaboration with Blackpink star Rosé, 'Apt.,' lives on five rosters and is a top 40 win on all of them. Gaga, meanwhile, no longer has any of her other Mayhem tunes on the tallies, and though she has promoted several tracks from her latest full-length since dropping 'Die with a Smile,' it's her vintage duet that is holding on.

Bob the Drag Queen Counts How Many Times Lady Gaga Asks Fans at Mayhem Ball to Put Their Paws Up

Few phrases are as iconic to fans of Lady Gaga than being instructed to 'put your paws up' — and Drag Race alum Bob the Drag Queen decided to figure out exactly how often Mother Monster still says it. In a video posted to his TikTok on Wednesday (Aug. 6), Bob shared a clip of himself preparing to attend the Mayhem Ball in Los Angeles, in which he revealed his plan to track the number of times Gaga instructs her fans to put their hands in the air. 'I'm gonna count how many times Lady Gaga requests that we put our hands up. I'm counting 'put your hands up,' 'put your paws up,' 'get them up,' 'hands up,' anytime it is clear to me that she is wanting us to put our hands in the air.' Throughout the rest of the clip, Bob interviews a series of his friends before the show to get their predictions for how often Gaga will ask the crowd to raise their hands. TikTok personality and singer Brittany Broski guessed that Mother Monster would ask 15 times, while Bob's partner, Jacob Ritts, said she'd make the request 131 times. 'I was gonna say 45 [times],' Bob offered. After a series of clips from the show, wherein Gaga performed songs including 'LoveDrug,' 'Poker Face' and 'Paparazzi,' Bob appeared back on camera to reveal that the singer asked her fans to put their hands in the air a whopping 88 times. 'I did include the four times that she sang it in the song 'Applause,' to be fair,' Bob said with a laugh. 'Make sure your arms are rested before you go see Mayhem.' Fans looking to throw their hands up at one of Gaga's forthcoming shows still have plenty of opportunities to do so. Mother Monster is performing two Mayhem Ball shows in Seattle on Thursday (Aug. 7) and Saturday (Aug. 9), before heading to New York City for a six-date mini-residency at Madison Square Garden starting on Aug. 22. The tour will reach Miami, Toronto and Chicago in the coming months before Gaga heads overseas for the European leg of her tour.
