UNC football lands offensive lineman out of transfer portal
The North Carolina Tar Heels continue to finalize their roster for the 2025 season here in the Spring and on Friday, they added another piece to the puzzle.
South Carolina offensive lineman Jakai Moore has signed with North Carolina per multiple reports. Moore is entering his seventh season of college football and will be the latest addition to the Tar Heels' roster.
With offensive line being a clear need, Belichick and his staff have now brought in eight linemen from the portal this offseason. So seeing how that plays out this Summer will be interesting to see.
The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Moore has appeared in 44 games and made 28 starts, showing versatility during those games. He made 13 starts at left tackle, seven at left guard, four at right guard and four at right tackle per Inside Carolina.
As a recruit, Moore was a four-star guard who ranked No. 21 at his position per the 247Sports rankings coming out of Virginia. He also had UNC as one of his top seven schools in his recruitment.

Michigan State landed their own defensive lineman prospect in the 2026 class, with Christopher Knauls Jr. committing to the Spartans following his official visit. So that commitment from Knauls eases the blow of Rutgers beating out Michigan State for Polk. Fresh off a 10-win season, an ACC crown, and a College Football Playoff appearance, the Tigers are reloading for another title run in 2025, and the arsenal looks formidable. Advertisement You want a franchise quarterback? Cade Klubnik is coming off a staggering 3,639-yard, 36-touchdown season that solidified his place among the nation's elite. Worried about weapons on the outside? Senior Antonio Williams leads a ferocious receiving corps, complemented by the explosive talents of Bryant Wesco and T.J. Moore. On the other side of the ball, a defense anchored by a menacing front four featuring T.J. Parker and Peter Woods is poised to suffocate offenses. Yet, as the Tigers march toward a primetime August 30 showdown with LSU, one glaring question mark looms over an otherwise stacked roster: Who will carry the rock? The departure of senior running back Phil Mafah, who rumbled for 1,115 yards and eight touchdowns last season, has left a void in the backfield. While most of the former head coach Buzz Williams' 2024 coaching staff is expected to join Maryland, one key assistant will reportedly stay in College Station under McMillan. According to Texas A&M's media team, Shane Sinon, one of the lesser-known names on the coaching staff, who served as a graduate assistant under Williams last season, will now serve as McMillan's Assistant Director of Operations.
