CBS Group CFO Tamar Gakharia's Fight For Success Modernized The Georgian Economy

Forbes01-04-2025
NEW YORK (April 1, 2025) — The Blitz: A Georgian Daughter's Rise as a CFO in the Post-Soviet Era by Tamar Gakharia is now available on Amazon. The book is published with Forbes Books, the exclusive business book publishing imprint of Forbes.
Tamar Gakharia came of age as the Republic of Georgia struggled to rebuild after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Raised by two doctors who lost everything, she was determined to build a future for herself, her family, and her homeland, brick by brick.
Just as her dreams of studying abroad began to take shape, love altered her path. At 17, she secretly married a man whose promise was overshadowed by his personal battles—leading to years of turmoil, abuse, and sacrifice.
Despite the challenges of her husband's addiction and incarceration, Gakharia remained steadfast in her ambitions. She completed her studies with honors and built a successful career in banking—all while raising her daughter and shouldering the burdens of a tumultuous marriage. At 25, she took a daring leap into corporate leadership, accepting the role of CFO at a fledgling holding company with a vision to elevate Georgia onto the world stage.
Through relentless dedication, she helped transform the company into one of Georgia's most prominent, battling corruption, bribes, and threats along the way.
'I certainly do not think of myself as a hero, but I still believe my story means something,' Gakharia said. 'In a way, it is also Georgia's story, and the history of my people and my country and our survival despite the odds. I think it's an important one to tell. Especially now, I think, when so many parts of the world are unstable, and so many people are trying to make change. There are many of us out here, not only in Georgia but also in other post-Soviet republics and other emerging nations around the world, trying to build our own palaces and create a better world for our children.'
The Blitz is a powerful testament to perseverance, the weight of love and sacrifice, and the unbreakable spirit of Georgian women.

Today's NYT Mini Crossword Clues And Answers For Tuesday, July 29th

Looking for help with today's NYT Mini Crossword puzzle? Here are some hints and answers for the ... More puzzle. In case you missed Monday's NYT Mini Crossword puzzle, you can find the answers here: It's Tyr's day, the one day of the week devoted to a Norse god almost nobody really remembers outside of fellow viking enthusiasts like your humble puzzle guide. Tyr was a god of war, similar—though distinct—to Mars in Roman mythology. It's no wonder Romance languages like Spanish pay homage to Mars on this day of the week. I guess Tuesday is for warriors. We are word warriors. The pen is mightier than the sword, after all. Let's use our wits to solve today's Mini Crossword. The NYT Mini is a smaller, quicker, more digestible, bite-sized version of the larger and more challenging NYT Crossword, and unlike its larger sibling, it's free-to-play without a subscription to The New York Times. You can play it on the web or the app, though you'll need the app to tackle the archive. Spoilers ahead! Before we get to the answers, here's the first letter for each word in today's Mini. I was less certain about 1-Across and had to basically fill in the blanks after plugging in a couple of DOWN words like ORDER, LEGIT and EDEN. For some reason, 'ladder's counterpart' evaded me until the end. Even when I had CHUT plugged in, the word 'CHUTE' just wouldn't pop into my brain—until it finally did. I also have to admit that I'm unfamiliar with the term PERT for sassy. You learn something new every day! This one took me 1: did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Stephen Colbert's lefty lunacy: Letters to the Editor — July 29, 2025

The Issue: The cancellation of Stephen Colbert's 'The Late Show,' which is known for its anti-Trump humor. Stephen Colbert's restriction — or perhaps elimination — of guests from the right, and his puerile attempt at humor is simply not funny ('The Left Show with Stephen Colbert,' July 27). His monologues are a sad camouflage for his political agenda: unwarranted hatred for President Trump. Advertisement Ron Goldman Brooklyn Jay Leno is spot on when he says that late-night TV hosts are alienating half their audiences ('Leno's 'left' jab at comics,' July 28). Fewer people are watching to begin with, and these overrated, overpaid clowns just keep delivering the same old liberal garbage. Advertisement I believe the legacy media has just as much to do with it as the buffoons. One can only hope that other hosts besides Colbert get canceled. Rob Feuerstein Staten Island Advertisement At the end of the day, Colbert became a cult leader. He claims to be a devout Catholic, but he delivers a message of hate every night. He had every right to pounce and make jokes about Trump, but when does it become mean rather than meaningful? Life is tough enough these days; why incite people rather than calm them and let them forget about the world for an hour? Dan Ricciardi Advertisement Brooklyn Rather than continuing to lose millions on late-night talk shows or canceling them entirely, the mainstream networks should emulate the Greg Gutfeld model on Fox. Place your host on a chair in a room surrounded by several like-minded panelists and let them riff on the news of the day for a half hour. No cavernous theater that can seat a thousand sycophants; no multi-member band protected by union contracts; and, most of all, no guests I've never heard of pushing movies I don't want to see, songs I don't want to hear or books I don't want to read. Jim Vespe Mamaroneck Every morning, the NY POSTcast offers a deep dive into the headlines with the Post's signature mix of politics, business, pop culture, true crime and everything in between. Subscribe here! Only Colbert found his jokes about Trump funny. It seems the only time the audience laughed was when Colbert did one of his ridiculous dances and made a fool of himself. Advertisement The critics may be right about Trump being responsible for Colbert's ouster. His audience has been silenced and Trump has had the last laugh. Nicholas Maffei Yonkers I watched Stephen Colbert's 'Late Show' for the first time in many years. He was not funny, and the show was not entertaining. Maybe that is why it is being canceled. Check out more newsletters The Issue: Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan's death by cardiac arrest at age 71. Advertisement I admired Hulk Hogan and what he stood for ('Hulk had a 'weak heart,' ' July 26). He was a wrestler, actor and showman with a heart of gold. But more than that, Hogan was a true patriotic American, not to mention true MAGA all the way. He was a big supporter of President Trump and at the 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee he ripped off his shirt in true Hulk Hogan style. He will truly be missed. My prayers go out to his family, friends and all Hulksters everywhere. Advertisement Frederick Bedell Jr. Bellerose We have lost another American icon. I am sure millions of young kids feel sadness like never before. He told all of them to always train, say your prayers and take your vitamins. He helped them to be the best they could ever be. I am positive there is a gym in heaven for him. He was a true hero. Kim Cody Whitestone Want to weigh in on today's stories? Super Robot Threatens Washington

The people who inhabit Washington's bureaucratic swamp breathed a collective sigh of relief when Elon Musk went back to running his companies. But the swamp's newspaper of record suggests that significant drainage ambitions are very much alive at the Department of Government Efficiency. A story in the Washington Post may read to some federal regulators like the screenplay to a horror film, but liberty fans are bound to see the makings of the feel-good movie of the year.
