(Video) Local VFX Artist Sofian Collabs With 'Superman' Star David Corenswet
Since posting his teaser, fans have been eagerly awaiting what the Malaysian talent has been working on in the editing room. Now that the highly anticipated film has been released (Thursday, 10th July), so too has the influencer's new promotional video with the actor. Watch:
Yesterday (Wednesday, 9th July), Sofian finally released his collaboration video with David Corenswet. The skit follows the Malaysian artist as he auditions for a role in the 'Superman' film alongside the leading star. During the audition, he stands next to David and demonstrates his superhuman strength and ability to fly, all of which are later revealed to be special effects, exposing that he was cheating to land the role.
When it came to demonstrating the final ability, heat vision, Sofian struggled to project beams from his eyes until David handed him Clark Kent's glasses. With them on, Sofian successfully destroyed a cardboard cut-out of a monster using his heat vision, but soon lost control and ended up damaging the camera lens. As the 28-year-old was processing what happened, the actor took the chance to promote the film. 'Auditioned to be Superman, but David was the judge. Let's just say… cheating doesn't fly❌' the content creator wrote in the caption.
As expected, Malaysians expressed their excitement over Sofian's latest collaboration, once again praising him for his impressive VFX work. Many also tagged 'Superman' director James Gunn, urging him to hire the young talent for the visual effects team on his next project. With all the collaborations he has done and his skills improving with each one, it's surely time Sofian was given the opportunity to work on a Hollywood production.

As for the concert, he is expected to belt out at least three of his top singles for music fans in the country. Besides Fajar, Jaclyn Victor, and well-known Malaysian composer and violinist Dennis Lau will also be joining Bunga Citra on the stage for the show. Bunga Citra had earlier added that she cannot wait to share the stage with Malaysian diva Jaclyn Victor, who celebrates her 20th year in the music industry this year. Jaclyn also recently celebrated her milestone with the long-awaited release of her seventh album in mid-January 2025. Having long admired the vocal strength of the first Malaysian Idol winner, Bunga Citra said she could not contain her excitement when the Gemilang singer finally agreed to perform at her concert this September. At a recent press conference here to announce her "BCL: Eternal Love – Timeless Romance" concert, the Indonesian diva described the opportunity to share the stage with Jaclyn as "deeply meaningful and a great honour'. "I've been a fan of Jaclyn for a long time. When she started singing at this event (the press conference), I nearly cried. She has a powerful yet gentle voice. I think she is one of the greatest singers in Asia," she said during the event in KL last month. Jaclyn, who has won numerous awards, including at the Eighth Shanghai Asia Music Festival, said when she received the invitation to sing at BCL's concert about a month or two ago, she agreed without hesitation out of respect for the Indonesian singer's stature in the regional music industry. Meanwhile, the Bunga Citra also said that she first knew Lau after seeing a video of him covering her hit song "12 Tahun Terindah", which the singer said was very well executed. That also played a role in her choosing Lau to guest-perform at the concert. "He is a brilliant musician. That says it all. We're gonna give a performance fans will not forget," said Bunga Citra. The concert is expected to run for more than two hours as BCL will also be joined by her band, along with backup dancers and vocals. 'The Fox King' selected for premiere at 50th Toronto International Film Festival
KUALA LUMPUR: The Fox King, a joint Indonesia and Malaysia production, has been selected to premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, said that the film's selection at one of the world's largest film festivals highlights the potential of regional collaborations to make an impact in the international market. "I am very proud of the achievement of this film, which has successfully secured a spot at one of the world's largest film festivals - the 50th TIFF. This recognition will undoubtedly help elevate the quality and value of collaborative films, between our two neighbouring countries, on the global stage. "Hopefully, this success will serve as a catalyst for more local producers, directors, and film productions to create high-quality collaborative works, like The Fox King," she said, congratulating the entire production team in a Facebook post. Teo said that the film, directed by Malaysian filmmaker Woo Ming Jin and starring renowned Indonesian actress Dian Sastrowardoyo, also received support from the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) through the 2023 Creative Content Fund, which allocated RM1 million, and the 2025 International Participation and Promotion Fund of RM50,000.
