Notre Dame quarterback Kenny Minchey makes a bold proclamation following Friday's practice
You love to see when your quarterback has extreme confidence, and Notre Dame's Kenny Minchey did exactly that on Friday following the second fall practice.
When speaking with the media, the second-year player proclaimed that he believes that he's 'the best quarterback in the country,' as On3's Jack Soble posted on social media. It's a strong claim, but one that ultimately could come true. Minchey will have to beat out CJ Carr first, but having that kind of confidence will go a long way.
Everything that we have seen from his during his limited playing time and in practices seem to suggest that he's got the skill set to lead the Notre Dame offense. He's got the running ability to make defenses account for his legs, and the throwing ability to pop the top off of a defense.
It will be a very interesting battle between the two, as the competition continues this fall leading up to the season opener on the road against Miami. Head coach Marcus Freeman will have a very difficult decision to make, but Minchey is very confident in his abilities.

"I think that's really been great. It's been nice for Layla to have a bigger body, because she's never dealt with that, especially in Alaska," Jensen said. Jensen continued by praising the competitive battles between the two as a way they can forge new skills and learn from each other, especially with an upperclassman who can accept physicality without taking it personally. "They can battle and can get intense and can get a little cranky, but there's still respect that I really love from the team that I've seen really forge pretty early. I think especially for post players, when you're learning as a young one, to really know when to throw an elbow because you need to, and it's the smart thing. It's nice to have a personality like an upperclassman that's not taken personally." With two skilled centers on the roster with multiple years of eligibility remaining, the Hawkeyes will look to utilize their combined dominance in the paint to their advantage this fall against a conference that features some of the nation's top post players. Hawaiian DL prospect gets invite to Michigan State opener vs. WMU
Thank you for this opportunity! @MSU_Football A Hawaiian defensive lineman in the 2027 class has picked up an invite to the Spartans' season-opener against Western Michigan. Stone Ah Quin of Honolulu announced earlier this week that he received an invite from Michigan State to attend the Spartans' season-opening game against Western Michigan. Quin announced the invite via a post on his social media X account. Quin is an unrated defensive lineman in the 2027 class. He is listed at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, and plays for St. Louis School. Michigan State is one of six schools to extend Quin an offer, with the Spartans handing him an offer in May, according to 247Sports. He also holds offers from California, Colorado State, Hawaii, San Diego State and UNLV. Quin didn't note in his post if he plans on attending the game or is just simply thankful for the invite. His recruitment by the Spartans will be something we want to monitor over the fall and into next year. Michigan State football extends official offer to legacy LB commitment
Michigan State football has officially extended an offer to a legacy commitment. Adam Shaw of Hillsdale, N.J. announced on Saturday that he's received his official offer from Michigan State. Shaw -- who flipped his commitment from Rutgers to Michigan State in June -- shared a post on social media X about the official offer from the Spartans. August 1 is the first day for schools to extend official offers to prospects in the 2026 class. Shaw is a three-star linebacker prospect, with a recruiting rating of 88 in 247Sports' rating system. He ranks as the No. 44 linebacker and No. 16 player from New Jersey in the 2026 class. Shaw is a Spartans legacy, with his dad, Scott Shaw, playing for Michigan State in the 1990s. Michigan State is one of nearly 20 schools to offer Shaw, according to 247Sports. He was notably being recruited by Rutgers, Pitt and Michigan State before selecting the Spartans.
