'Every School-Age Child Must Be in School' – Headmaster Timmareddy Leads Enrollment Drive in Medikonda
In an active effort to bring children back to school, Headmaster Timmareddy, along with a team of school teachers, visited the homes of children who have not yet enrolled or returned to school. This door-to-door campaign is part of the government's larger mission to ensure 100% school enrollment and retention.
Speaking on the occasion, Timmareddy announced that from this academic year onwards, all high school classes will be conducted in a newly constructed school building. He noted that the school had previously faced significant challenges due to the lack of classrooms, which affected the smooth conduct of academic sessions. However, with the new building now ready, the school is prepared to offer a better and more structured learning environment.
In addition to academics, students will also receive training in technical education and sports, giving them holistic exposure and opportunities to excel in various fields. 'We aim to utilize all available resources to provide quality education and develop skills among students,' said the headmaster.
He urged parents and guardians to take advantage of these improved facilities and ensure that every school-age child in the village returns to school and continues their education.
Along with Headmaster Timmareddy, several teachers and community leaders participated in the program, including teachers Ramanaidu, Narsimhulu, Abel, Jagadeesh, Ruth, Anupama, and Model School Committee Chairperson Radhamma. Their collective participation reflects a strong community commitment to promoting education and preventing child labor in the region.
This initiative is aligned with the Telangana government's broader goal to strengthen the public education system through infrastructure development, awareness programs, and community involvement.

Centuries-old baobabs get fresh roots in Chengicherla forest
Hyderabad: In a rare ecological breakthrough, the Telangana forest department has identified around 21 naturally regenerated baobab saplings in Chengicherla forest. The discovery is particularly significant, as most baobabs in the country are believed to have been introduced by African settlers more than four centuries ago. "They will be replanted and nurtured to form the core of what is set to become India's first dedicated Baobab Park. To ensure their survival, we are also consulting independent experts to design a conservation plan tailored to the slow-growing, drought-resistant species," said Sharat Chandra Reddy, forest range officer at the Chengicherla forest. The discovery was made during a field visit led by forest officials when one of the four baobabs in the area was felled due to pest infestation. "We were also accompanied by independent researchers specialising in baobab ecology. The saplings were found clustered around three massive, centuries-old baobabs, raising hopes that these iconic trees could be cultivated and sustained locally without relying solely on transplants," Reddy added. Hyderabad's baobabs—known for their bulbous trunks and extraordinary longevity—are under growing threat from age, environmental stress, and urban development, say tree experts. A recent survey by a local nature group documented 37 African baobab trees scattered across the city. The number includes a group of seven trees in the Aramghar area, with two of them inside the Jamia Islamia Darul Uloom and three inside the Zilla Parishad High School in Aramghar, with one of them having a girth of approximately 45 feet. If realised, the Chengicherla Baobab Park could become a one-of-a-kind ecological and cultural landmark, linking Hyderabad's past with a greener, more sustainable future," said Uday Krishna, an environmentalist from the city who wrote to the district forest officer of Medchal-Malkajgiri district urging conservation of the remaining baobabs. The idea of a Baobab Park at Chengicherla is not new. "Some years ago, actor Nagarjuna donated Rs 1 crore towards its development. However, only an ornamental entrance gate was built, and no further infrastructure materialised. But this new natural regeneration will provide the momentum needed to revive the stalled project. This is a pivotal opportunity, not just to preserve these heritage trees, but to cultivate their future population as a living legacy," said the forest beat officer of the forest.

Gadwal: In an important development for devotees, the management of the Jogulamba Temple has officially announced the relocation of its ongoing Annadanam (free meal service) program to a newly constructed facility. As per a press note released by temple authorities, the Annadanam program currently being held at the old dining facility will be shifted to the Annadanam Block located within the newly built Prasadam Scheme Building. The shift to the new facility is scheduled to take place on Thursday, July 31, 2025, following a series of religious rituals and auspicious ceremonies. The temple priests have decided the muhurtham (auspicious time) for the commencement of the Annadanam program in the new premises. District Collector Urges Students to Pursue Education with Discipline to Achieve Great Heights
Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santosh emphasized that students who attend classes regularly with discipline and dedication can rise to great heights in life. On Tuesday, the Collector made a surprise inspection of the Zilla Parishad High School in Maladkal mandal. During the visit, he inspected classrooms, school surroundings, the midday meal facilities, food quality, science lab, and other amenities. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector stated that the government is giving utmost priority to the education sector. He stressed that every student studying in government schools should receive quality education along with nutritious food as per the prescribed menu. The Collector added that necessary facilities, teacher appointments, quality teaching, and infrastructure are being provided to ensure this. He urged teachers to pay special attention to students' academic abilities and health, and to ensure that students attend school regularly. 'If students listen attentively to their teachers and practice with discipline, even an average student can become an IAS officer, a scientist, or a leader guiding society,' said the Collector. He noted that there are 104 students enrolled in 10th grade this academic year and expressed the goal that all should pass and achieve 100% results. Expressing disappointment that no student scored above 540 marks last year, he motivated the students to perform better this year. He also announced that those achieving top scores will be felicitated at district-level programs. The Collector encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities provided by the government and move forward with a clear plan. He expressed happiness that the school was selected under the PM SHRI scheme and assured that all required facilities for the students' welfare would be provided. Teachers were instructed to conduct special classes to ensure that students thoroughly understand their lessons. Additionally, the quality of food served must be mandatorily verified by the school's quality committee before being distributed. The Collector also highlighted that while the district stood 32nd in the state rankings last year, it has now improved to 23rd position, with a goal to reach at least 15th place next year. He pointed out that many renowned individuals have risen to prominence from government schools, including from the Government Boys' School in Gadwal. He concluded by encouraging students to dream big and take small, consistent steps every day toward achieving their goals. The event was attended by Mandal Education Officer Mr. Suresh, School Coordinator Ms. Esther Rani, teachers, and others.
