Who Is Haider Ali? UAE's Lahore-Born Left-Arm Spinner Stuns Bangladesh In Series Decider

UAE's Haider Ali bowled a stunning spell of 4-1-7-3 to lead his team to a seven-wicket win against Bangladesh in the T20I series decider in Sharjah.
UAE's rookie left-arm spinner Haider Ali on Wednesday bowled a brilliant spell to catch the Bangladesh team off-guard, as the visitors slumped to an unprecedented seven-wicket defeat in Sharjah, losing a three-match T20I series 1-2, as their stakes in the shortest format touched a new low.
A late bloomer, the 30-year-old Haider made his international debut in the first game of the series against Bangladesh. He went for 30 runs in his four overs in that match and returned wicketless.
After returning 0/31 in the second T20I, Haider spun a web in the third, picking three wickets while conceding only seven runs from his four overs.

Having been put in to bat first, Bangladesh found themselves at 84/8 in the 14th over, before wicketkeeper Jaker Ali and Hasan Mahmud added 44 runs for the ninth wicket.
After Jaker was dismissed by Saghir Khan, Hasan and Shoriful Islam built a 34-run partnership for the 10th wicket to take Bangladesh to a respectable score of 162.
Haider dismissed captain Litton Das for 14, Towhid Hridoy for a two-ball duck, and Mahedi Hasan for 2, to finish with figures of 4-1-7-3.
Dhruv Parashar dismissed Bangladesh opener Parvez Hossain Emon with his first ball in the second over of the innings.
Haider, introduced in the attack in the fourth over, struck gold as well, trapping Litton LBW with his first delivery.
Two deliveries later, Haider had Towhid Hridoy LBW as well, this time with a quicker ball. He returned for his second over inside the powerplay and finished things off with another wicket off the last delivery, cleaning up Mahedi Hasan's stumps to leave Bangladesh reeling at 49/4.
In the chase, UAE lost Muhammad Waseem in the second over, before Muhammad Zohaib and Alishan Sharafu added 44 runs for the second wicket. After getting reduced to 79/3 in the 11th over, Sharafu and Asif Khan added 87 runs for the fourth wicket to take UAE over the line.
Haider's spell of 4-1-7-3 is now the joint second-most economical four-over spell by an UAE bowler in men's T20Is, equalling Aayan Afzal Khan's 4-1-7-3 against Cambodia last year.
This is the most economical four-over spell by an UAE bowler against a full-member team in men's T20Is, going past Mohammad Naveed's previous record of 4-1-12-2, set nine years back, against Bangladesh as well.
Who Is Haider Ali?
Born in July 1994 in Lahore, Haider made his List A debut for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited in September 2018 against the Karachi Whites and bowled an economical spell of 10-0-33-0.
Haider made his first-class debut three days later and bowled a spell of 35-1-113-3, dismissing two set opposition batters in the first innings.
Although it isn't clear as to when Haider moved to UAE, it looks like a very recent move, given that his debut has come only this month.

Ireland make three changes in their squad for upcoming West Indies T20I series

New Delhi [India], June 6 (ANI): Ireland have made three changes in their 14-member T20I squad, which was announced last month for the upcoming three-match series against West Indies, as per the ICC official website. The squad is bolstered by experienced pacer Mark Adair's return, who missed out on the ODI series through injury. Right-arm pacer Craig Young missed out on the ODI series due to injury and will miss out on the T20I series as well. All-rounder Curtis Campher also met the same fate as he did not recover in time to feature against the West Indies and will sit out the upcoming series. Meanwhile, Gareth Delany, who was included in the T20I side last month, has been sidelined due to an injury sustained in a club game as he joins Young and Campher on the treatment table. Coming in on the side is 22-year-old Tim Tector, who made his debut against Zimbabwe in a rain-hit encounter in February this year. Keeper-batter Stephen Doheny returns as well, with his previous appearance coming in an away series against Zimbabwe in January 2023, while leggie Gavin Hoey received his maiden call-up to the T20I team. Speaking on the injuries, Andrew White, Ireland's National Men's Selector, said as quoted by the ICC official website, 'It's been a trying period of late, with some unfortunate injuries sidelining a number of our key players. Both the recent ODI series and this month's T20I series, against West Indies, have really tested the strength of depth in our talent pool. 'With the next Men's T20 World Cup approaching in February 2026, this series is an important part of preparing the squad for the challenge and will serve as a good barometer of where we are at,' he added. Ireland squad v West Indies: Paul Stirling (C), Mark Adair, Ross Adair, Tim Tector, Stephen Doheny, George Dockrell, Matthew Humphreys, Josh Little, Barry McCarthy, Liam McCarthy, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, Ben White, Gavin Hoey. Ireland v West Indies T20I series schedule: First T20I: Thursday, June 12, Bready. Second T20I: Saturday, June 14, Bready. Third T20I: Sunday, June 15, Bready. (ANI)

IPL Player of the Tournament (MVP) Winners List: From Shane Watson to Suryakumar Yadav; Check full list of Most Valuable Players of IPL

Indian Premier League Player of the Tournament (MVP) Winners List from 2008 to 2025 Season: Mumbai Indians prolific batter and India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav was named the 'Most Valuable Player' (Player of the tournament) of the Indian Premier League 2025 season that concluded on Tuesday with Royal Challengers Bengaluru winning their maiden title. RCB handed Punjab Kings a six-run defeat in the finals of IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to become the new IPL champions. MI, which were eliminated just before the last hurdle in the second Qualifier against PBKS, were carried single-handedly by Suryakumar's batting in the middle-order. Having won just one out of the first five matches, MI saw a turnaround in their fortunes when Suryakumar's batting started to click. He became the first MI batter to score 700 + runs in a single season. In 16 innings, SKY amassed 717 runs at an average of 65.18 while striking at 167.91 with five fifties under his belt. In all those 16 innings, the 360-degree batter scored above 25 in each inning. He is also only the second MI player to be awarded MVP after Sachin Tendulkar won it in 2010. The orange cap holder of that season, Sachin, had scored 618 runs, taking MI to their first final. Andre Russell, Sunil Narine (both for Kolkata Knight Riders) and Shane Watson (for Rajasthan Royals) are the only three players to win MVP award twice in their careers. Apart from Tendulkar and Suryakumar, Virat Kohli, Harshal Patel and Shubman Gill are the only three Indians to be adjudged as the Player of the Tournament in IPL.
