
Fitness coach reveals most dangerous food for the body that we still include in all our meals: Not sugar or soda
When it comes to our health and changing our diet for the better, doctors, health experts, and nutritionists usually kick out sugary food and soda drinks from our meals. They are often considered the biggest villains against achieving a healthy eating habit, but did you know that a bigger supervillain is still hiding in the shadows? Seed oils.
A fitness coach started fresh conversation about the perils of cooking your food with seed oils with his new video. Lars Meidell, a Norwegian founder of Reinvented AS, has 1.3 million followers on Instagram. He shared in his recent video how the worst thing to put in your body isn't cola, sugar or fried chicken but something 'that hides in everything you eat'.
He shared in his video how seed oils cause oxidative stress. As per the National Library of Medicine, oxidative stress occurs when there's an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the body's ability to detoxify them. While ROS are natural by-products of oxygen metabolism and play important roles like cell signaling, their levels can spike due to environmental stressors such as UV rays, pollutants, and certain drugs, leading to cell and tissue damage.
'This leads to hormonal imbalance, heart disease, and even cancer,' Lars' video mentions. 'Most people eat this food every day. It is vegetable seed oils like sunflower oil, canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil. They are cheap, processed and loaded with unstable Omega-6 fats,' he said.

Earlier, in an interview with Huberman Labs, Dr. Mark Hyman, founder of the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Functional Medicine, spoke about seed oils in detail.
"We should be prioritising whole food sources of fat, things like avocados, coconuts, nuts, seeds, and Omega-3s from fish. Olive oil, especially extra virgin, is one of the least processed oils available. While we do eat nuts and seeds that naturally contain Omega-6 fatty acids, the concern arises when we consume them in highly processed forms."
He explained that the core issue with seed oils lies in their high Omega-6 content, which can become problematic if not properly balanced with Omega-3s. This imbalance, he noted, is believed to contribute to inflammation. He also raised concerns about the way these oils are grown and processed.
He pointed out that many seed oils come from genetically modified crops like canola, which are often treated with heavy chemicals. The oils then undergo industrial processes such as oxidation, bleaching, deodorising, and treatment with solvents like hexane—methods he felt made them unfit for consumption.
While he acknowledged that the evidence about the dangers of seed oils is still mixed, he concluded that he personally wouldn't choose to consume something so heavily processed.

According to Kanikka Malhotra, a clinical nutritionist and diabetes educator, if overloaded, excess sugar gets converted into fat and stored throughout the body. She said this can contribute to weight gain and increase your risk of developing chronic health problems like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers. Don't workout for six months and let it go; be consistent in your approach. 'Most importantly, lift weights. Women, especially should do so,' she said. According to Dr Anup Khatri, senior consultant, orthopedics, Gleneagles Hospital, Parel, Mumbai, staying physically active can help improve muscle strength and boost endurance. High-intense activities like sprinting can help build muscle, increase stamina, and also improve cardiovascular health. 'Sprinting can also help in burning calories and easily lose weight, especially fat from the body,' he said, adding that consistency is key. According to him, it is important to maintain a consistent workout regime for better results as taking frequent breaks can disrupt the entire process, making your muscles shrink back to their natural form. 'Koi idea aaya hai, kuch life mein karna chahte ho, koi vision hai…likh lo. It just clears up your mind,' the actor suggested. Dr Rimpa Sarkar, psychologist and founder of Sentier Wellness, told that writing your thoughts and goals signals to your subconscious that these things in life matter, keeping you motivated. This can be attributed to the blue light emitted by phone screens, which is known to disrupt melatonin production and interfere with the body's natural sleep cycle, he said. Dentist warns against daily use of mouthwash: ‘It's aging you faster than you think'
Who doesn't love smelling like mint and all things nice all the time. After a nice date, everyone wants to make sure that their mouths smell fresh in case they get lucky. A mouthwash bottle always comes in clutch. But did you know that rinsing your mouth with mouthwash more than once in a while might be doing you more harm than previously thought? California-based dentist Dr Miles Madison shared a video on Instagram recently to shed light on the same. Dr Madison says that using mouthwash is like 'carpet-bombing' all kinds of bacteria in your mouth, even the good ones. 'A lot of these alcohol-based antiseptic mouthwashes are killing not just the bad bacteria but also a lot of the good bacteria. These beneficial bacteria are producing a very important molecule for our bodies called nitric oxide.' As per the US government's National Library of Medicine, 'within the vasculature, NO induces vasodilation, inhibits platelet aggregation, prevents neutrophil/platelet adhesion to endothelial cells, inhibits smooth muscle cell proliferation and migration, regulates programmed cell death (apoptosis) and maintains endothelial cell barrier function.' 'So if you are using mouthwashes that carpetbomb your whole mouth and get rid of all the good and bad bacteria, you are reducing your body's ability to produce nitric oxide. That's why I do not recommend using these mouthwashes on a daily basis. Once in a while is okay but using these every day is a big hell no,' Dr Madison said in the video. After exercise, nitric oxide turns into nitrate, which oral bacteria convert into nitrite—a compound that keeps blood vessels open. When participants used mouthwash, this process was blocked, and their blood pressure didn't drop as much. This shows that mouth bacteria are important for maintaining lower blood pressure after exercise.
