Nets bringing in Alabama F Grant Nelson to compete for Two-Way spot
The Brooklyn Nets came away from the 2025 NBA Draft with five players that should have plenty of opportunities to see the floor for a rebuilding Nets team. Brooklyn appeared to have taken all of the players that they wanted as they traded their No. 36 overall pick to the Phoenix Suns, but it seems like the Nets are still looking to add more talent to the roster. The Nets will be bringing in Alabama forward Grant Nelson to training camp to compete for a Two-Way spot on the team, according to HoopsHype NBA insider Michael Scotto. Heading into next season, Brooklyn has just one player slated for a Two-Way contract, forward Tosan Evbuomwan, so the Nets still have two other Two-Way spots to fill along the way. Advertisement Nelson, 23, enters the NBA after spending the past two seasons at Alabama, the last of which being when he averaged 11.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.2% from the field and 25.8% from three-point range. Nelson, listed at 6-foot-10 and 230 pounds, went undrafted during the 2025 Draft, but it's unclear whether Brooklyn is formally signing him as an undrafted free-agent. While Nelson has a solid track record as a college player, he will be sifting through quite the roster crunch for a Nets team that will have to make plenty of tough decisions before the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign. As of this writing, Brooklyn has 15 players under contract, including the five players taken in the first round of the Draft, but that figure doesn't include recent trade acquisition Terance Mann or any of the seven free-agents. With 23 players connected to the Nets at this time combined with the fact that Brooklyn would have to cut the roster down to 18 (15 standard contracts and three Two-Way contracts), Nelson could find himself in an uphill battle. However, if Nelson is able to prove himself in training camp, and potentially in Summer League, he may be able to beat the odds.
