India's Muslim population enough to defeat Pakistan: RLD's Malook Nagar
Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Malook Nagar strongly criticised Pakistan on Saturday in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, saying that the Muslim population of India are enough to defeat Pakistan.
His remarks came as a response to Pakistan's Defence Minister admitting to the country's role in supporting terrorist groups.
"Out of 146 crore people, about 25-26 crore are Muslims, and the Muslims of our country are enough to defeat Pakistan... A befitting reply will be given to this in the coming times," Nagar told ANI.
Reacting to Pakistan's Defence Minister admitting that Pakistan has been funding and backing terrorist groups, the RLD leader said that the whole world stands with India.
"Pakistan's minister has admitted in front of the whole world that they promote terrorism. Today, the whole world has said that it stands with our country, and it will be proved to the whole world that in the coming times, Pakistan will also become like Afghanistan," he added.
In a video clip, Pakistan's defence minister is in a conversation with Sky News's Yalda Hakim, admitting Pakistan's involvement with terror groups.
Hakim asks him, " But you do admit, you do admit, sir, that Pakistan has had a long history of backing and supporting and training and funding these terrorist organisations?"
Khwaja Asif, in his reply, says, "We have been doing this dirty work for the United States for about 3 decades... and the west, including Britain...That was a mistake, and we suffered for that, and that is why you are saying this to me. If we had not joined the war against the Soviet Union and later on the war after 9/11, Pakistan's track record was unimpeachable."
Asif's statement lays bare the fact that Pakistan, for many years, has been harbouring these terror groups.
Following the terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, the Central government announced several diplomatic measures, such as closing the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari, suspending the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for Pakistani nationals, giving them 40 hours to return to their country, and reducing the number of officers in the High Commissions on both sides.
India also halted the Indus Waters Treaty signed in 1960 in the wake of the Pahalgam attack.

Assam: 16 arrested for ‘illegal' cattle slaughter on Bakri Eid, says Himanta Biswa Sarma
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that 16 persons have been arrested in the state for allegedly slaughtering cattle illegally on the Muslim festival of Bakri Eid a day earlier. The festival, also known as Eid-al-Adha, commemorates the spirit of sacrifice and entails the slaughtering of livestock. The consumption of beef is not illegal in the state. However, the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, which was passed in August 2021, prohibits cattle slaughter and the sale of beef and beef products in areas 'predominantly inhabited by Hindu, Jain, Sikh and other non-beef eating communities' or within five km of a temple or a sattra, a Vaishnavite monastery. It also places restrictions on cattle transportation. Sarma said on Friday that of the 16 arrests made, nine were from Cachar district and seven from Sribhumi. The Bharatiya Janata Party leader also claimed that cattle parts were found near Cotton University in Guwahati, and Dhubri, Hojai and Sribhumi districts. The chief minister said that five 'illegal slaughter sites' were found. Three of them were in Cachar district's Gumrah, Silchar and Lakhipur and two in the Karimganj district's Badarpur and Banga, he added. 'While our Constitution guarantees the right to religious freedom, it equally upholds the rule of law and public order,' he said on X, adding that the state government was 'committed to preserving communal harmony, but not at the cost of lawlessness or cruelty'. Reform UK's Zia Yusuf returns to party days after quitting as chairman
Zia Yusuf said on Saturday he would return to Britain's right-wing Reform UK party, two days after quitting as its chair, blaming his abrupt resignation on exhaustion from the job. Yusuf, a businessman who is not a lawmaker himself, resigned on Thursday hours after a row with a Reform lawmaker over her call for a ban on the burqa, the full-length garment worn by some Muslim women. Yusuf became Reform chair last year, tasked by party leader Nigel Farage with professionalising the party. While it has since overtaken Prime Minister Keir Starmer's Labour in the polls, the exit of several senior figures has raised questions over whether Farage can hold together a team ahead of the next election, expected in 2029. "After 11 months of working as a volunteer to build a political party from scratch, with barely a single day off, my tweet was a decision born of exhaustion," Yusuf said on X, referring to the earlier post announcing his resignation. Yusuf said he would focus on a new role overseeing an Elon Musk-inspired "UK DOGE team" within Reform that the party hopes will reduce wasteful spending at the councils it controls after its victory in a series of local elections last month. The party has seen departures from its upper ranks before. One of its lawmakers, Rupert Lowe, was suspended by the party in March over allegations including threats of physical violence against Yusuf. No charges were brought against Lowe, who denies the allegations. And in November its deputy leader Ben Habib quit, citing "fundamental differences" with Farage. Farage said Yusuf would assist Reform with policy, fundraising and media appearances in addition to his work on local councils. "Zia will continue to be an important part of the team we are building to fight and win the next general election," Farage wrote on X.
