‘Clearly Beyond Us': Namit Malhotra Shares Hans Zimmer's Reaction To Ramayana
Namit was quite appreciative of Hans Zimmer's understanding of the epic and said that he was content that the composer felt passionately about it.
Ramayana remains one of the most eagerly anticipated movies so far, and producer Namit Malhotra has promised a never-before-seen visual spectacle. Legendary music composers AR Rahman from India and Hollywood's Hans Zimmer have teamed for the first time for the epic.
In a recent podcast with Prakhar Gupta, chairman of DNEG and Prime Focus, Namit Malhitra discussed how Hans Zimmer, composer of The Lion King and Interstellar, reacted to the Indian epic story.
During the podcast, Namit recalled that when he began explaining Ramayana to Hans Zimmer, he stopped him midway, saying that he did not want an explanation. When the producer asked the reason, Hans Zimmer said, 'It's clearly something beyond us. You and I don't need to explain it."
Namit further quoted him saying: 'You don't have to explain it (Ramayana) to me. Something that has lived through thousands of years, generations of people, and continues to be relevant after all of that time you and I don't need to explain it. Something is there, why it is relevant even today. Let's acknowledge it and let's do the best we can because it's clearly something that's beyond us."
Namit was quite appreciative of Hans Zimmer's understanding of the epic and said that he was content that the composer felt passionately about it.
Moreover, Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman are big names in the entertainment industry, and Namit shared what it is like to work with the duo. He noted, 'I have sometimes sat there and witnessed the two of them together. I'm like… there is so much mutual respect, so much admiration for each other's work that, as artists, it's actually something to learn from."
The teaser for Ramayana, released a few days ago, sets up a vast narrative, of the epic Rama vs Ravana battle. The star cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and KGF actor Yash as Ravana. Sunny Deol stars as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey plays Lakshman. The Ramayana is filmed for IMAX and will be released worldwide: Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027.

Known for her scheming ways and tumultuous relationships including eight marriages. Lisa Grimaldi became an iconic soap character and a cornerstone of the series. Fulton's early career was grounded in the arts. Born on September 13, 1933, in Asheville, North Carolina, she earned a degree in music from Greensboro College. She began her performance journey with the outdoor theater group The Lost Colony before moving to New York to study acting under Sanford Meisner and Lee Strasberg at the Neighborhood Playhouse. She also took dance classes with modern dance pioneer Martha Graham. Her big break came with As the World Turns, where her evolving portrayal of Lisa won critical acclaim. 'Well, when I first started, I was a real live scheming conniving person. Not I was, I mean my character Lisa was. It was a wonderful character part," Fulton said in a 1995 interview. She later added, 'I've had great fun being dippy… I have loved every minute of it." Beyond television, Fulton also found success on stage with roles in the Broadway production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and the off-Broadway favorite The Fantasticks. Fulton was inducted into the Soap Opera Hall of Fame in 1998 and received a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. After retiring, she returned to North Carolina in 2019 and resided in Black Mountain. She is survived by her brother Charles Furman McLarty, niece Katherine Morris, and extended family. Chennai's Mixtura Vizha brings art to you
Unlike most art festivals or street performances, Mixtura Vizha doesn't offer a tightly packed agenda. It throws open various global art forms, placing them squarely in public spaces for people to experience them with an open mind. Curated by Shreya Nagarajan Singh under her banner SNS Arts Development Consultancy, along with KM Music Conservatory, in partnership with the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and Uptown Kathipara Urban Square. 'This year, we chose three prime locations — Central metro station, Thiru Vi Ka Park, and Urban Square at Kathipara. The idea is to bring the arts into public spaces, and take it outside the traditional space of a sabha or an auditorium,' said Shreya. 'We want to make the arts accessible for everyone — be it someone taking the metro home or someone walking through a park.' With a total of eight performances ranging from classical music and dance to drama and koothu to techno and jazz, the city's spaces transformed into a platform for artistes. What makes Mixtura Vizha unique is its inclusion of art forms that general audience rarely witnesses live. At Central metro, the performances kicked off with KS Thejal's voice shifting between soft French compositions and soulful Indian classicals. The blend of beats — of modern and traditional instruments — attracted the passersby. People leaned on barricades, stood in clusters with their backpacks and luggage, some filming and others simply pausing to listen. It was during the setup for the next act that I spotted Adam Greig, artistic director of KM Music Conservatory. Reflecting on his collaboration and performance, Adam shared, 'I'm one of the co-founders and co-inspirators of Mixtura Vizha. Shreya and I were discussing back in 2021 about this idea of doing a festival in Chennai and Shreya came up with this concept of incorporating all the different types of art forms.' As he gearing for his first piano solo at the festival, he gestured toward the crowd and said, 'It's quite an exciting concept because the audience never know what they're going to get. They know who's playing, they know where it is happening, but they wouldn't know who's playing in which of the listed locations. It's fun for them too,' he exclaimed. Charumathi Chandrasekar also took the stage by storm with expressive Bharatanatyam movements.

‘Saiyaara' box office collection Day 3: Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer records historic Rs 83 crore debut weekend; among highest-earning Bollywood films of 2025
'Saiyaara', the Mohit Suri-directed romantic drama, has delivered a historic opening weekend at the Indian box office, collecting over Rs 80 crore (India net) over its first three days. Featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda in lead roles, the film has defied expectations and emerged not only as a standout success in 2025, but has also set a new benchmark for collections by films starring debutante actors. Box Office Performance The film, which marks the big-screen debut of Ahaan alongside Aneet, beat all expectations and early box office predictions to score this impressive feat. According to reports on sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 21 crore on day 1 and saw good growth at the box office on day 2, earning an estimated Rs 25 crore. The film then went on to score its highest collection at the ticket windows on Sunday, earning an estimated Rs 37 crore, according to early estimates. Sunday's collection helped the film earn a total collection of Rs 83 crore India net. Highest Earning Films Of 2025 According to box office reports, the film has surpassed all predictions to take its place among the highest-earning Bollywood films of 2025. 'Saiyaara' not only outperformed Suri's previous opening records like 'Ek Villain' which earned Rs 16 crore and 'Aashiqui 2', which earned Rs 6.1 crore, but also positioned itself among the top 5 highest opening weekends of 2025. It is now trailing behind only big-ticket films like, Vicky Kaushal 's 'Chhaava' which earned Rs 121.43 crore, 'Housefull 5' which has an estimated net total of Rs 91.83 crore and 'Sikandar' which earned Rs 86.44 crore net. Occupancy Rate Saiyaara recorded an overall 71.18% Hindi occupancy on Sunday in Hindi-speaking regions. The film performed particularly well during its evening shots, with the highest footfalls recorded to be around 79.32% and 88.15%. Trade analysts are crediting the film's success to a combination of fresh casting, music, and Suri's emotional storytelling, which seems to have struck a chord with younger audiences. This impressive Rs 80+ crore debut for Panday, comes at a time when several other star kids, the latest being Shanaya Kapoor , failed to rake in even Rs 2 crore at the box office in the first week of the release of her debut film 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan'. Director Suri credits the film's authenticity and emotional truth. In interviews, he's spoken candidly about his desire to push past the rose-tinted portrayal of romance in Bollywood: 'In love, there will be pain… If love is not real, it's not felt. I believe in it more than I fantasise about it,' he told PTI. Bollywood vs Hollywood 'Saiyaara' has also beaten the likes of Hollywood films like 'Superman' and 'Jurassic World Rebirth'. The new release has comfortably shot past the collections of James Gunn's Superman, and is just a few crore shy of beating the Scarlett Johansson starrer dino film, which has a two-week total collection of Rs 86.6 crore. This film is expected to continue its upward trend at the box office and record a strong opening weekend. All eyes will now turn to Monday's numbers to see if the film can maintain its momentum and set a new box office record.
