Summary
Caitlin Clarkmay have been slowed down by a groin injury earlier this season, but it didn't stop her from securing her second WNBA All-Star honor. The sharpshooter continues to dominate and has cemented herself as one of the faces of the league despite it only being her second season. Beyond that, her partnership withNike Basketballcontinues to blossom. After wearing various Nike Kobe PEs last season, she went on to drop her own Kobe 5 Protro'Indiana Fever'at the end of last month. While we await her inevitable signature shoe reveal, she's just debuted yet another PE.
Clark stepped out in a newNike Kobe 6 ProtroPE this past weekend, revealing a 'Cookie Monster' colorway that is inspired by the belovedSesame Streetcharacter. The Muppet's rich blue fur is nodded to throughout the shoe while its special laces (not used during the game) favor a shaggy material. From there, the tongue nods to chocolate chip cookies with its brown-on-brown exterior.
At the time of writing, neither Caitlin Clark nor Nike Basketball have indicated that this 'Cookie Monster' PE of the Kobe 6 Protro will ever hit retail shelves. However, stay tuned for updates, including more Caitlin Clark x Nike rumors, as it is possible that the shoe will eventually find its way onto shelves like some of her other PEs.

Edwin Diaz's historic Mets stretch has been a journey two years in the making

Access the Mets beat like never before Don't miss Mike Puma's text messages from Queens and beyond — he's giving Sports+ subscribers the inside buzz on the Mets. Sign up Now Edwin Díaz has enjoyed some dominant stretches before, but the Mets closer is currently riding an unrivaled heater both personally and across franchise history. Díaz's scoreless inning Monday night gave him 19 consecutive appearances over more than two months without allowing an earned run. He has only been charged with one over his past 34 relief outings since April 23, and his 0.26 ERA over that span represents both the best 34-game stretch of his career and the lowest ever by any Mets reliever. Before Tuesday's game against the Guardians, the three-time All-Star acknowledged this is 'the best I've felt' since missing the entire 2023 season with a knee injury suffered in the World Baseball Classic earlier that year. 'One hundred percent,' Díaz told The Post outside the dugout during batting practice. 'It's been a long time that I haven't given up [an earned] run. I always look at my stats and I know how I'm doing.

Carrington won't help the Lynx with shooting as she struggles from outside, but her ability to drive inside should aid the Minnesota offense. The team is coming off a dominant 111-58 win over the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday. Seattle has struggled lately, losing two in a row and going just 4-6 over the last 10 games. Once viewed as a potential title contender, Seattle's lack of bench depth has become an issue. The team needs to aggressively pursue a backup wing by the trade deadline if it wants to make a run out of the first round come postseason time. Last time out, the Storm lost 78-74 to an Indiana Fever team that was still without star guard Caitlin Clark. Ben Simmons to Celtics Deemed Unlikely for One Reason

Ben Simmons to Celtics Deemed Unlikely for One Reason originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In recent weeks, there have been multiple reports tying Ben Simmons to the Boston Celtics. Both Marc Stein and Brian Windhorst revealed that the Celtics are among the teams interested in signing the three-time All-Star. Since his fallout with the Philadelphia 76ers, Simmons has not played at the same level he once did. During the 2024-25 season, he averaged five points, 5.6 assists, and 4.7 rebounds a game while shooting 52% from the field in 51 games combined with the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers. After losing Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kornet, and presumably Al Horford, the Celtics don't have that many big men in their frontcourt. Their rotation of centers includes Neemias Queta, Xavier Tillman, Luka Garza, and Amari Williams. However, despite the Celtics' interest in Simmons, he doesn't seem likely to join them. Not unless someone else gets traded first. CLNS Media's Bobby Manning explained how, from a roster standpoint, he doesn't see the Celtics adding Simmons. "If #Celtics sign Ben Simmons, they're effectively committing to 15 players to start the year which they haven't done in some time," Manning wrote. "Unless they have a path in mind to further downsizing payroll in September/later, or adjusting the roster, I don't see it unless they love him…" If the Celtics get rid of someone first to open a roster spot and/or make trades to reduce their payroll, that scenario could open the door for Boston to sign Simmons. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 24, 2025, where it first appeared.
