Video: Ex-Lecce star Dorgu has nightmare for Manchester United
Former Lecce starlet Patrick Dorgu is having a rough start to life at Manchester United, as this evening he gifted a goal to Ipswich Town and was then sent off.
The wing-back shot to fame at the Stadio Via del Mare and earned a lucrative January transfer to Old Trafford at a cost of €30m plus another €5m in add-ons.
This was his fourth appearance for Manchester United, starting in tonight's Premier League fixture against minnows Ipswich Town.
It was the worst possible start, as within four minutes his back-pass surprised former Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana, allowing Jaden Philogene-Bidace to pounce and walk it into the empty net.

Just as Manchester United had turned it around to lead 2-1, Dorgu was sent off following the VAR On-Field Review for the high and late sliding tackle on Omari Hutchinson.
This was his second red card of the season, as Dorgu was also sent off for violent conduct in Lecce's 1-0 Serie A win over Cagliari on August 31.

Italy coach Spalletti says Moldova match will be his last
Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has said that Monday's World Cup qualifier against Moldova would be his last. Spalletti had come in for criticism after the Italian side lost 3-0 to Norway in their opening World Cup qualifying match last week. Advertisement "We spoke with the president of the Italian federation on Saturday and I was told that I would be relieved of my duties as coach of the national team," Spalletti told a press conference on Sunday. "I'm not happy about it. Given the relationship we have, I had absolutely no intention of leaving. Especially when things aren't going well, I would have preferred to stay and do my job. "But this is a dismissal and I have to accept it. I've always seen this role as a service to the country and I want to facilitate the future of the national team. I think it's right to strive for the best." Spalletti, 66, took over from Roberto Mancini as Italy coach in August 2023. Advertisement In his time as head of the Nazionale, the team won 11 times, drew six and lost six. Spalletti's dismissal came only hours after he had been stoutly defended by the same man who then fired him, Federation president Gabriele Gravina. Gravina, who is not without his own critics, said earlier on Sunday Spalletti "was an extraordinary person" adding he "believed in the team and (Spalletti's) project" which he declared was "amazing." "He is a noble soul. The attacks on him are not merited," said Gravina. Gravina had conceded the manner of the defeat to Norway was "unacceptable" though he intimated Spalletti would be responsible for leading the recovery. Advertisement "We have to face difficult times with our heads held high and we have to get back up immediately." Two names have popped up on a regular basis as to who would replace him, AS Roma's experienced Claudio Ranieri, 73, most famous for guiding Leicester City to the unlikeliest of Premier League titles in 2016, is one of them. The other is Stefano Pioli presently the coach of Saudi outfit Al-Nassr but prior to that the 59-year-old won the 2022 Serie A crown with AC Milan. jr/lp/pi

Advertisement Then, there is also interest in the Spaniard from some of Europe's biggest clubs outside of Italy. The Corriere report that Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Bayern Munich are all targeting Gila. Therefore, Lazio want to act quickly to clarify Gila's future. The capital club's priority would be to lock down the 24-year-old's future with a new deal. They do not want to see him head into the last couple years of his current one. Therefore, Lazio are offering Gila a contract extension. However, if the Spaniard does not sign an extension, then Lazio's priority would be to sell Gila while they can still get a large fee for him.

Inter Milan Club Directors To Travel With Squad & New Coach Chivu To USA For FIFA Club World Cup
Inter Milan Club Directors To Travel With Squad & New Coach Chivu To USA For FIFA Club World Cup Inter Milan's club directors will travel with Cristian Chivu and the squad to the USA for the FIFA Club World Cup. This according to today's print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They anticipate that it will be an 'all-hands-on-deck' approach from the Nerazzurri senior management. Advertisement Inter Milan will travel to the United States for the Club World Cup in just a few days. The Nerazurri will begin their campaign in the competition in a little over a week. They kick off their group stage against Mexican side Monterrey. And Inter have gone through massive upheaval in the lead-up to the Club World Cup. Inter lost out on the Serie A title by a single point on the final day of the season to Napoli last month. Then, they suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. After that, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi decided to step down. He joined Al-Hilal. Inter Milan Club Directors To Travel To USA For Club World Cup With Chivu ROME, ITALY – APRIL 28: Cristian Chivu, Head Coach of Parma Calcio, looks on prior to the Serie A match between SS Lazio and Parma at Stadio Olimpico on April 28, 2025 in Rome, Italy. (Photo by) Cristian Chivu is the man who will come in to replace Inzaghi on the Inter bench. Advertisement The 44-year-old former Nerazzurri defender will have the faith of the club to try and instill a different atmosphere after an extraordinarily tough few weeks. But doing so won't be easy. However, Inter have an opportunity to immediately start regaining their confidence. The Club World Cup can see the team put the last month behind them and make a fresh start under Chivu. But the team and their young new coach will need the support of the club behind them. Therefore, reports Tuttosport, Inter's senior management will be on the plane to the United States with the team. Only Nerazzurri President Beppe Marotta could stay behind, to deal with transfer market business.
