According to Corriere di Bergamo, the 27-year-old is reportedly waiting for Inter Milan to submit a more suitable offer, with Ivan Juric's side wanting at least £43.3million.
The potential deal with Arsenal was an estimated £45m.
The Nigerian has seemingly found himself in between a rock and a hard place after he has allegedly not attended training over the last few days.
It is no secret that Lookman wants to join Champions League runners-up Inter for the 2025/26 season, after the player reportedly made a personal agreement with the Nerazzurri.
Atalanta has turned down two offers for the international forward.
Despite the Atalanta talisman making his hopes known, he holds a lot of value for the Juric-led squad.
Lookman has been at Atalanta since 2022, when he moved from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of approximately £9.3m.
He has made 118 appearances for the club, scoring 52 goals in the process.

He has consistently appeared in 31 of the 38 games each season for Atalanta since he joined, with this season being his most successful for the side.
If Arsenal had managed to get the deal for Lookman over the line, it would have meant his return to the Premier League.

Lookman has previously played for Everton before he signed RB Leipzig in 2018.
He then went numerous loan spells back to Everton, then Fulham and also Leicester.
After returning from loan from Leicester, he was then signed by Atalanta.
To continue their aggressive recruitment drive this transfer window, Arsenal had hoped to capitalise on Lookman's unsettled situation at Atalanta.
After failing to tempt the forward, the Gunners have turned their attention elsewhere.
Gunners are reportedly on the verge of making a bid for Eberechi Eze, with Fabio Vieira expected to leave for Stuttgart.
In other news, Arsenal are said to be waiting to see if Real Madrid will allow Rodrygo out on loan.

Premier League legends make their top four predictions as Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard agree on best finishes - and it's bad news for Man City

Steven Gerrard, Alan Shearer and Rio Ferdinand all agree on who will finish in the top four at the end of the upcoming Premier League season, which kicks off on Friday night when Liverpool take on Bournemouth at Anfield. With the excitement of a new season brimming, several fans and pundits have had a go at predicting the final Premier League table. Forecasting the top of the division is more challenging than ever these days, given the huge amount elite clubs are investing in the transfer market, but it turns out Premier League legends Gerrard, Shearer and Ferdinand are in agreement over their top four. Reigning champions Liverpool have been extremely busy in the transfer window, signing the likes of £116m Florian Wirtz and £79m Hugo Ekitike among several new additions. Arsenal, who have finished second three times in a row, finally have a new star striker in £70m Viktor Gyokeres, while Manchester City can never be counted out of a title push while Pep Guardiola remains at the helm. Meanwhile, Chelsea are heading into the season off the back of a superb Club World Cup triumph, having strengthened in attack with the signings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, Alan Shearer, Theo Walcott & Jermain Defoe make their Premier League top four predictions for 2025-26 🏆 @topps — GOAL (@goal) August 13, 2025 Gerrard, Shearer and Ferdinand, who joined fellow ex-Premier League stars Theo Walcott and Jermain Defoe in giving their predictions to GOAL, all tipped Liverpool to win the division again. They also predicted Arsenal to finish in second for a fourth successive season, with Man City third and Chelsea fourth. Walcott and Defoe also agreed that Arne Slot's side will win the title again, but opted for a different arrangement between second and fourth. The former Arsenal winger believes Man City will mount a closer title challenge than the Gunners, tipping Guardiola's side to finish second ahead of his old team. Meanwhile, ex-Spurs man Defoe is even less confident on Arsenal's chances next season, predicting them to finish in fourth place behind third-place Chelsea and runners-up Man City. Opta's supercomputer last week determined Liverpool as the favourites to win the title, giving them a 28.5 per cent chance of defending their crown. Disagreeing with Walcott and Defoe, the supercomputer then rated Arsenal as Liverpool's closest competitors, handing the Gunners a 24.2 per cent chance of finally winning their first title since 2004. It would be a repeat of last season's table if the supercomputer predictions come to fruition, with Manchester City given an 18.8 per cent chance of returning to the top of the tree - the third most-likely side.

Tottenham step up interest in Man City star after initial enquiry was turned away - as Pep Guardiola's side stand firm on £50m valuation

Tottenham are set to further test Manchester City 's resolve over Savinho in a bid to bolster Thomas Frank 's attacking armoury. City knocked back an enquiry for the Brazil international, revealed earlier in the week, and are thought to only be entertaining offers of more than £50million. Spurs will go again for Savinho, who cost £31m from Troyes this time last year and made 48 appearances during his debut season under Pep Guardiola. City possess Phil Foden and Oscar Bobb as competition on the right wing – with Rayan Cherki capable of operating out there too. But Savinho was noticeably given the nod for City's two biggest matches at the Club World Cup, the victory over Juventus and defeat by Al Hilal. The 21-year-old is, however, uncertain over his future role at the Etihad Stadium and Tottenham are looking to pounce. Were City to do business with Spurs, they would turn their attentions to Real Madrid superstar and Savinho's international team-mate Rodrygo. Rodrygo has been a constant thorn in City's side during the titanic Champions League battles of recent seasons and is thought to want a fresh challenge away from the Bernabeu. Khaldoon Al Mubarak had promised aggression in the transfer market, with City having brought in five new faces either side of the Club World Cup. Landing Rodrygo and Gianluigi Donnarumma, the latter in the potential eventuality of Ederson leaving, would signify a serious show of intent. City still need to let a number of non-homegrown players go to avoid having to omit anybody from their European squad, which limits the number of registered foreign stars.

Eberechi Eze advised NOT to join Arsenal by club icon as he points out glaring problem

One former Arsenal star has spoken about Eberechi Eze's potential move to Arsenal and has offered some words of advice to the Crystal Palace maverick Eberechi Eze has been warned not to head to north London in his immediate future as he considers his options before the new season kicks off. The 27-year-old has caught the attention of both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, but Gunners icon Theo Walcott has urged the attacker to stay put at Selhurst Park. ‌ Eze played a pivotal role in steering the Eagles to their maiden major silverware last campaign by netting the decisive strike in the FA Cup final. The England star had further cause for celebration at Wembley last weekend as Palace defeated Liverpool to claim the Community Shield. ‌ It is understood that Arsenal have been longtime admirers of Eze, though the club would need to shift players to meet his £68million release clause, which expires at the beginning of the new season. Spurs represent another possibility for Eze following James Maddison's injury setback and Son Heung-min's departure. ‌ Despite this, Walcott believes next summer's World Cup could derail the Gunners' transfer ambitions. "I think the big thing we've got to look at is the World Cup year," Walcott told the It's Called Soccer podcast. "You hit the nail on the head there with [Marc] Guehi. As a player, if it's a World Cup year, I'm thinking, 'I'm going to play consistently for Palace this year.' "So if I'm Eze, for instance, my thought process is, Arsenal is a different kind of pressure. There is the pressure of, obviously, challenging for the title. There's a lot of words being said that Mikel [Arteta] needs to win something this year, so being a player that will help the squad–of course, he will, he's a gifted player–but will he help himself? "The good thing about Eze's situation is that he can play every week. He has that maverick and accepts making and taking those risks." "I think he's a player that can take those risks at Palace," Walcott added. "I don't think he'll get that at Arsenal. But then if he has a really good season with Palace, he will go to the World Cup, I'm pretty sure of that. Then what teams will look at him then after that? ‌ "I think for me, if I was Eze, I'd probably stay put just because of the World Cup year. If it wasn't a World Cup year, I'd move on." On the prospect of Eze leaving Palace, Walcott said: "The grass isn't always greener and I love the way Eze plays at Palace at this moment in time. It would look very different at Arsenal, but he would improve Arsenal, 100 per cent. I just feel the World Cup year is a big factor for a lot of players this year." Eze was handed his England debut in 2023 and was part of the Three Lions squad that reached the Euro final last summer. His 25 goal contributions across all competitions last term saw him named in Thomas Tuchel's first two England squads. ‌ Walcott's former teammate, Mikael Silvestre, also echoed his concerns about Eze joining Mikel Arteta's squad. With Martin Odegaard and Ethan Nwaneri already vying for the attacking midfield position, and the recent signing of winger Noni Madueke, Silvestre expressed his doubts to Hajper. "Eberechi Eze to Arsenal? I don't think it'd be good for him, to be honest, because there is a lot of competition and because he has so much joy and freedom at Crystal Palace," Silvestre said. ‌ "Going to Arsenal would, I think, be difficult because of the competition for places. But I like him a lot. Since his early days, he has been terrific. "It's a shame he's had quite a lot of muscle injuries and he's missed some parts of the season. But whenever he's fit and ready, he is a top player."
