Days after a Pakistan-origin man was jailed for issuing rape threats to a Virgin Atlantic flight attendant, his supermodel wife defended him on social media.
Abeer Rizvi blamed her husband Salman Iftikhar's mental health issues for his abusive behaviour towards the Virgin Atlantic flight attendant during an eight-hour flight in 2023, according to a report in New York Post.
Taking to Instagram, Rizvi wrote on Thursday, 'Mental health is not a joke. Behind every story, there's pain you don't see." 'Before judging, try understanding. Be kind. Be human," she further wrote.
Iftikhar, the founder and director of Staffing Match, a UK-based recruitment company, is married to both Rizvi and Erum Salman, according to the Daily Mail.
Rizvi resides in Pakistan, where she operates a salon and posts glitzy photos of herself on social media to her half-million followers on TikTok and Instagram.
What Happened On Flight?
A father of three and husband to two wives, Iftikhar was travelling in the first-class section on February 7, 2023 when he became enraged after being asked to stop taking ice from the onboard bar.
Iftikhar, who had been consuming champagne as he travelled with his wife Erum Salman and their three children, verbally abused and threatened a flight attendent saying she would be dragged out of her hotel room, gang raped and set on fire.
The entire incident was captured on camera by a co-passenger. The video showed Iftikhar accusing the flight attendant of being a racist. In the video, he was heard saying, 'You called me a Pa-i in front of everybody."
When cabin crew asked him to return to his seat, Iftikhar replied, 'Don't tell me what to do you racist f—ing b–ch. I know where you are from in Cardiff."
Iftikhar was sentenced to 15 months in prison for his outburst on Tuesday during a hearing at Isleworth Crown Court.
The 37-year-old was arrested a year later after the incident, on March 16, 2024 at his home in Iver in England's Buckinghamshire.
The victim, who was present in the court during the hearing, said: 'I am a strong, brave, happy stewardess, and loved my job… I was working when all flights were grounded on 9/11, and I've even flown into a warzone. But this incident has broken me."

ED freezes Rs 110 crore in mule accounts and seizes 1,200 credit cards in Parimatch money laundering probe

Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) froze Rs 110 crore in mule accounts and seized 1,200 mule credit cards following raids at 17 locations in Mumbai, Delhi, Noida, Jaipur, Surat, Madurai, Kanpur, and Hyderabad earlier this week. The operations were part of a money laundering investigation connected to the Parimatch online gaming-betting app operated from Cyprus, and conducts its illegal operations in India through multiple verticals. The raid also included a firm whose payment aggregator licence application had recently been rejected by the RBI. The ED stated that Parimatch defrauded investors (its users) by promising high returns and thus generated over Rs 3,000 crore in a year. Investigations revealed that Parimatch routed users' funds through mule accounts using various strategies across southern and western India to layer the money collected from users. The ED said that the app deceived users with attractive prize winnings and aggressive marketing, including sponsorship of sports tournaments and partnerships with well-known celebrities. Parimatch also established Indian entities to run surrogate advertisements under the names "Parimatch Sports" and "Parimatch News. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Find your car's value online in minutes. Spinny Click Here Undo " Payments to these agencies were made through foreign inward remittances, said the ED. Afterwards that cash was handed over to hawala operators, who used it to recharge virtual wallets of a UK-based company. The wallets were then used to purchase USDT cryptocurrency under the names of mule crypto accounts, operated by Parimatch agents, said the ED. In another instance, during the search found that in western India, Parimatch utilised domestic money transfer (DMT) agents. Funds collected in mule accounts controlled by these DMT agents were sent to Parimatch agents through payments made via mule credit cards. The ED seized 1,200 such mule credit cards from a small shop. The ED investigation also uncovered that payment companies, whose applications for Payment Aggregator licences had been rejected by the RBI, offered their services to Parimatch under the guise of technology service providers (TSPs) and provided their API to facilitate user fund collections. These TSPs supplied the APIs to Parimatch agents, who then opened mule accounts in the names of e-commerce companies and payment solution provider companies to collect funds from users. Money collected through UPI transfers was layered and transferred out as e-commerce refunds, chargebacks, vendor payments, and other transactions, effectively concealing the actual flow and purpose of the funds, said the ED. ‘Anbadum Mundril', an initiative launched to foster love, brotherhood, harmony among students, wins Chief Minister's Best Practices Award

An initiative launched in the district in 2023 to foster love, brotherhood and harmony among the school students after Tirunelveli witnessed a few clashes among the students on caste-lines has won the Tamil Nadu Government's appreciation. The students' harmony programme, 'Anbadum Mundril', which was launched in October 2023 in the district, has won the Chief Minister's Best Practices Award as this initiative has done wonders on the school premises. This initiative, conceived by the then District Collector K. P. Karthikeyan was launched by Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Udhayanidhi Stalin after a 17-year-old Scheduled Caste boy from Nanguneri and his sister were hacked by a group of teens, also his schoolmates, belonging to an intermediate caste in August 2023. Since this brutal attack brought to light the deep-rooted hatred even among the teens from different castes, Mr. Karthikeyan, after a lot of discussion, designed 'Anbadum Mundril' in Tirunelveli district on a 'pilot basis'. Initially, it was introduced in 105 government and government-aided high and higher secondary schools in Tirunelveli district with active participation of representatives from education, police, revenue, local administration, sports and skill development departments and the psychologists and the counsellors from Madurai-based M.S. Chellamuthu Trust and Research Centre. The programme assessed the skills and psychology of the children first and addressed the issues through scientific approach. Apart from the children, their parents and teachers were also given counselling by this special team. Teachers of these schools were screened and moulded by the counsellors. The progress made through this initiative at the end of each academic year was evaluated and extended to other schools also wherever this intervention was needed. This initiative also focuses on guarding the children away from liquor and drug abuse by explaining to them through life examples. After pinpointing their skills, the children are guided properly for strengthening their skills in their area of interest, improving their concentration, career guidance, self-employment etc. Since these children had to be insulated from caste outfits, due measures were put in place with the police removing the paintings in public places with caste overtones. Any evil force misguiding the children in the name of caste or religion are being dealt appropriately. 'It was a sincere attempt to put an end to the enmity or clashes among the school students through sustained psychological but play-way intervention. With sustained approach, the initiative has won the Chief Minister's appreciation now,' the then Collector, now Managing Director, ELCOT, said. The then ASP V. Prasanna Kumar, tahsildar P. Balakrishnan and BDO V. Yamuna played their role effectively in promoting 'Anbadum Mundril' in Nanguneri after the attack on the SC teen and his sister and they have been selected for the 'Chief Minister's Best Practices Award' 2025 announced on the eve of Independence Day.
