EasyJet completes rollout of modern navigation software
The future air navigation system-C (Fans-C) software also involves instructions from ATC controllers to pilots – such as 'climb to 36,000 feet' – to be relayed by text rather than radio, reducing the chances of misunderstandings or hold-ups.
EasyJet said it has retrofitted the programme on all 54 of its A320 and A321 neo family planes.
The carrier's new jets rolling off the Airbus assembly line are equipped with the technology as standard.
EasyJet said the software has saved it 334 tonnes of fuel since it began using it in 2019.
It said last month French ATC disruption was responsible for the majority of its delays this summer.
David Morgan, chief operating officer at easyJet, said: 'Technologies like Fans-C are not only essential for the modernisation of airspace, they will be critical in helping deliver meaningful reductions in fuel, carbon emissions and noise pollution.
'To maximise the potential of these technologies, it's critical that airspace reform is finally delivered, and this means more direct routes to help reduce congestion and delays.
'The UK Government has taken positive steps to redesign UK airspace – we now need those plans delivered swiftly here and across Europe so we can properly harness these technologies and capitalise on the environmental benefits they will deliver.'
The Department for Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority are establishing a group of aviation experts to work with UK airports on modernising airspace.
It is hoped this UK Airspace Design Service will launch by the end of the year.
A radar-related issue was blamed for a UK ATC failure by provider Nats on July 30 which forced the cancellation of more than 150 flights, disrupting thousands of passengers.

I'm Leekim Stewart, and I live in a converted barn in the Essex countryside with my husband and our two young children, who are two and four. I juggle my days between three things: running my own finance brokerage, creating content for my Instagram account, where I showcase all things DIY and home decor related and finally, running the house and family. The property is in Maldon in Essex. It's in the heart of the countryside and right amongst the bugs and wildlife. It's definitely slow living here, which is not completely what I'm used to, but it's a great place to bring up children. I love Mrs Salsbury on the high street; it's a little cafe that does lovely little breakfasts or afternoon teas. There's also a restaurant called Black Pig, and they do the best lobster I've ever tasted. There are a few hidden gems in Maldon, you just have to find them. We moved in March 2023 – when I was six months pregnant! £1,160,000. We sold our business, another finance brokerage, which gave us enough to buy our previous Chelmsford home outright, which we did for £540,000. When we came to sell it, we sold it for £600,000. We got a mortgage on top to cover the rest. Our mortgage is roughly £2,700 per month, at 2.32% over 27 years. Bills cost £1,200. It was quite smooth apart from one element; that was that the drive wasn't registered on the land registry as the previous owner's, it was showing as owned by the council! It technically did belong to the owner, but the paperwork was never sorted for this. Leekim's DIY efforts not only completely transformed her bedroom, but they got her nominated for a Best Showstopping Home Feature in the Home Awards. Celebrating talent across 20 categories, including interiors, gardens, furniture innovation and home accessories, the awards highlight the best in the home renovations game. We found it on Rightmove. We were on the hunt for a converted barn, specifically one that had vaulted ceilings and tonnes of character. I would say my Bobo boucle chair. It's my favourite piece as it's so pretty to look at. We needed to have enough bedrooms/space to not only house my husband and my kids, but also three extra rooms to transform into an office as we both work from home. We wanted a walk-in wardrobe/laundry dumping ground, and the final non-negotiable was a playroom, as my husband can't stand toys in the living room. We've tried to work around the history of the barn by adding modern touches. We go to Soho Farmhouse quite often, so that also inspires our design choices. We used to live in Shoreditch, and we spent a lot of time in Brick Lane, in trendy cafes, bars and hangout spots. The decor tended to have a sense of a worn and battered feel, but often this would be turned on its head with fabrics, wallpaper and art. It's this type of charm we have tried to recreate here, and where we feel the most at home. My favourite room is the bedroom, and this is because I refurbished the entire thing myself! I also built the window seat, and it's actually been shortlisted as a finalist for the Ufurnish Awards (Best Transformation Before & After). I made it using Ikea Besta units; I hacked it from a TV unit to a window seat. Our bedroom needed a complete makeover, and something was seriously lacking: character and storage. I colour-drenched it in a deep warm pink and added statement hardware to really customise it. Not at first, but we built some storage under the stairs, a window seat in the bedroom and a bookshelf unit in the living room. We wanted to extend the kitchen out so we could have an open plan living situation. It's hard to watch the kids as well as cook, so to have an open-plan kitchen/living room would be ideal. Yes, the entire house needed to be rewired as the way it was configured was an extreme fire hazard – we also have a thatched roof! View More » We have plans to move abroad one day. Tesco, Lidl & more recalls as warning issued to Apple users
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has issued a number of recalls, on items sold at some of the UK's biggest supermarkets and retailers. These recalls include popular kitchen products such as Tower Air Fryers and Nutribullets. While other stores have issued recalls on clothing items. Elsewhere, Apple users have been issued a warning about "counterfeit" power adaptors that present fire risks. We have rounded up the recalls you should be aware of. If you have purchased any of the products below, please stop using them immediately, and contact your retailer, or see the full recall notices for more information. Apple users issued warning Apple users have been issued a warning over a 'counterfeit' power adapter that presents a 'serious risk of fire and electrical shock'. The USB-C power adapter is Apple branded despite being 'counterfeit' and has been rejected at the border as it was brought in from China. An OPSS statement said: 'The product presents a serious risk of fire and electric shock as the plug pins are not compatible with BS 1363 sockets and do not connect securely when in use. 'This could cause the product to overheat and cause a fire. The user could also receive an electric shock when inserting or removing the plug from the socket as there is inadequate protection against the live parts. 'Improvements are also required to the instructions, and many of the required documentation and markings are not present. 'The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs & Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. 'The import has been rejected at the border.' Air Fryer recall Shoppers at Tesco, Argos, Poundland, B&M and other popular UK stores have been issued a warning after a range of Tower Air Fryers were recalled. The Air Fryers are at risk of overheating, which can cause fires and result in them igniting during use. Six models of Tower air fryers are affected by the recall, all in black. They have been sold at a number of retailers including Tesco, Lidl, Argos, B&M, DID, Poundland, Robert Dyas and the Tower Housewares website. Next recall Next is recalling some of its clothing because of a risk of strangulation, as the shopping giant apologised to customers who have already purchased the clothes. The Miss Summer Dresses and Knitted Top, Shorts and Headband Outfit Set have been included in the recall. The affected item numbers are F83773, F83782, F83791, F83775, F83779, F83781 and F85623. A Next spokesman said: "Miss has made us aware of a problem with the above items. Unfortunately, it's come to light that there's a potential problem with the decorative cords on the products which are too long. "This could present a strangulation / choking hazard for children. "As the above items don't meet strict technical specifications, Miss has taken the precaution of recalling the items, and request that you return your impacted product to Next immediately for a full refund. The compound is not authorised for use in cosmetics manufacturers in Europe due to the risk of allergic reactions in sensitised individuals. The supermarket is recalling the Tower eight litre dual basket air fryer which is sold in its stores. The affected air fryers have a product code of T17129L. No other Tower products sold at Lidl stores are impacted by the recall. Tower is recalling the products 'due to risk of overheating', the retailer said. It added that this could ultimately 'present a fire hazard' to shoppers who bought the item. 'If you own one of the affected models, please stop using it immediately,' Lidl said in the recall notice. Customers who bought affected air fryers have been urged to contact the supplier directly through They will then be able to see if their particular product has been affected and can access instructions for returning it. New 129-day cruise launched from Sydney to London with 'unlimited food and drink'
Oceania Cruises has announced the newest route in its 2027 Around The World line-up: a 129-day voyage from Sydney to London designed to explore the wonders of Asia, the Mediterranean and beyond A major cruise company has launched a new trip from Sydney to London—lasting over four months. The 'Kangaroo Route' will span 129 days and is set to depart for the first time in 2027. According to Oceania Cruises, this new route will allow travellers to 'journey along the magnificent coastlines of Australia before spending more than two months exploring the cultural and natural wonders of Asia '. The voyage will include 'iconic cities and hidden gems of the timeless Mediterranean' before concluding in London. The trip will depart from Sydney on February 26, 2027 and arrive in London on July 5, 2027. In between, the ship will visit more than 80 ports across 34 countries and four continents. It comes after a warning to Brit tourists planning all-inclusive holidays to Spain. The itinerary includes Egypt, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha, as well as European hotspots including the shores of Greece and Italy, as well as medieval cities in Croatia and Spain's Costa del Sol. The itinerary also features overnight stays in locations including Cairns, Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore, Mumbai, Luxor and Bordeaux. The cruise company, a subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line, said guests will have access to 'the most spacious standard staterooms at sea', which are 291 square feet, complete with verandas. The ship accommodates 1,200 passengers but comes with a steep price tag. Tickets start at £44,039 (promotional price) for a French Veranda room to £156,439 (brochure price) for an Owner's Suite. Unlimited beer, wine and spirits are included as part of the trip or passengers can opt for a shore excursion credit instead. Exclusive shoreside events are also included, as well as free luggage delivery and a visa package. The voyage will take place aboard the Oceania Vista, which features 11 dining venues, including the Polo Grill Steakhouse, the pan-Asian Red Ginger and the French restaurant, Jacques. Oceania will also offer immersive Culinary Discovery Tours ashore and hands-on cooking classes in the ship's Culinary Centre. Guests can enjoy onboard experiences in the ship's eight bars, lounges and entertainment venues, or unwind at the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Centre. There will also be onboard enrichment in the form of art classes and guest lectures. This Kangaroo Route is the newest addition to Oceania Cruises 2027 Around The World cruise portfolio. Other routes include a 180-day trip from Miami to London, a 244-day trip from Miami to New York, and a 127-day cruise from Miami to Doha.
