Yankees fans demand Aaron Boone is fired as season hits new low and stands of the brink of catastrophe

Daily Mail18 hours ago
New York Yankees fans are demanding Aaron Boone is fired as the team's manager as the season has hit a new low and stands of the brink of catastrophe following the franchise's sweep at the hands of the Miami Marlins.
The Marlins used the three-game sweep to get an even record, with the Yankees unsuccessfully using an opportunity to put their summer doldrums behind them.
Instead, New York's plunge from first place in the American League East has further plummeted. The team is clinging to a Wild Card spot with plenty of games to go.
Yet, the stronghold the Yankees held in 2025 has completely evaporated, in part to the team's 25-32 record since May 29.
Now, Yankees fans are calling for Boone to lose his job again as the lofty expectations in the Bronx are not being met.
The Yankees being swept in their third road series in the last seven definitely hit a sore spot for New Yorkers.
'If Aaron Boone were fired I think it's more likely than not they'd start taking every pitch seriously and win the American League. They won't do it,' one MLB fan said.
'I feel bad for Aaron Boone, the person. He's been a baseball guy and he's trying to protect these guys. His team has stopped playing for him and that's painfully obvious,' a second stated.
'Waiting for the day where I sign on and see the announcement "The Yankees have relieved Aaron Boone from his management assignment,"' a third added.
'Aaron Boone back, as a red Sox fan he was doing an AMAZING job lol,' a fourth continued.
'Lmao the Yankees stink. Idk how Aaron Boone still has a job,' a fifth concluded.
A collection of social media messages from Yankees fans wanting Aaron Boone to be fired
In a critical series for Wild Card positioning, the Yankees will head to the Lone Star State to face the Texas Rangers in a three-game series starting on Monday.
The Rangers are the first team out of the postseason race, with a series victory over the Yankees bringing them at least within a game of New York, if not overtaking their American League foes.
The Yankees are unlikely to make a managerial move this late in the season, with the Steinbrenner family typically using the offseason to fire coaches.

Mike McDaniel's disturbingly morbid answer in Dolphins press conference leaves fans baffled

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel has left fans baffled after providing a surprisingly morbid answer in a press conference. Late last month, McDaniel corrected a reporter after seemingly being greeted with 'good morning' - before explaining the dark reason that it was actually a 'great morning.' 'You should stand corrected - good morning? False, great morning, let's go,' he said. Asked what was so 'great' about that morning, the coach answered: 'Because we're another day closer to death.' McDaniel's quip resulted in some laughs from the reporters present, while fans online were taken aback by the remark after it surfaced on social media on Monday. 'Outlook seems optimistic in Miami,' one said on X. lol — Egan (@SlamDunkEpic) August 4, 2025 'Just like me on a Monday,' another quipped. 'Appropriate reaction to being associated with this cursed franchise,' a third cracked. And a fourth said: 'The latest graduate from the Joe Mazzulla School of Communications,' comparing McDaniel to the famously dry Celtics coach. McDaniel is in a pivotal offseason as Dolphins coach after his team missed the postseason last year. That occurred in large part due to more injury woes for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who missed six games due to concussion and hip issues. The passer, who was hosted by Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, was urged by the president to 'stay healthy' and McDaniel echoed those comments afterward. 'If I was concerned about how serious he was taking his part in staying healthy, I think he got an executive order last night to stay healthy, if I'm not mistaken,' McDaniel told NFL Network over the weekend. 'He then praised his quarterback, adding: 'It's been cool to watch him really evolve into who he is on the national stage but more so, really in his own skin, be the true leader of the team. 'It's real and authentic and all he's done is - in a ton of noise - focus on the right stuff. So there's a lot of things that go into staying healthy but first and foremost you have to front-end prioritize and really acknowledge what you mean to the team,' the coach continued. 'And, like in years past, he lives and embraces "control-ables" and is not afraid of any work. So guys respond to him.' The Dolphins begin their season on September 7 at the Colts.

Braves 3B Austin Riley returns to IL with ab strain

August 4 - Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley headed back to the 10-day injured list on Monday with a strained lower abdominal muscle. Riley, 28, returned to the lineup on July 25 after missing two weeks with a right abdominal strain. He exited Sunday's 4-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the MLB Speedway Classic in Bristol, Tenn., after making a diving play in the infield. Riley is batting .260 with 16 homers and 54 RBIs in 102 games this season. The two-time All-Star is a career .270 hitter with 169 home runs and 483 RBIs in 821 games since making his debut with the Braves in 2019. Atlanta recalled infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr. from Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move. The team also recalled infielder Jonathan Ornelas after optioning outfielder Jarred Kelenic to Triple-A Gwinnett following Sunday's game. --Field Level Media

Report: Vikings brace for 3-game ban for Jordan Addison

August 4 - The Minnesota Vikings are bracing for a three-game suspension for wide receiver Jordan Addison over last year's DUI arrest, ESPN reported Monday. Addison, 23, resolved his legal case last month by pleading no contest to a lesser charge. He was placed on 12 months of probation and ordered to pay a fine and complete two online courses. He was arrested in July 2024 near Los Angeles International Airport after police found him asleep at the wheel of his Rolls-Royce, which was blocking a lane of traffic on Interstate 105. The Vikings' first three games of the regular season are at Chicago in Week 1 and home games against Atlanta in Week 2 and Cincinnati in Week 3. Addison caught 63 passes for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games (all starts) in his second season in 2024. The 2023 first-round draft pick (23rd overall) has 133 receptions for 1,786 yards and 19 TDs in 32 games (29 starts). --Field Level Media
