Yorkshire railway posters reimagined for 200th anniversary
Young artists have created a series of travel posters in the style of historic railway adverts, inspired by Yorkshire destinations.Students from Rotherham College, East Riding College, New College Pontefract, and Keighley College have created posters for their local stations, which will be seen by thousands of passengers.Forty of the young artists from Rotherham unveiled their artworks during a ceremony on Thursday at Rotherham Central station.Richard Lyon, curriculum team leader at Rotherham College, said working on the posters had been "a valuable and positive experience for our students".
He said: "Our train journey to the Yorkshire coast enabled students to take great photos to inspire their ideas. It also took their experience beyond the classroom, developing their independence and confidence in using the rail network."Mr Lyon said having the images on display had created a "great level of energy and excitement" and enabled them to show their students' talent and creativity.
Railway adverts were first produced in the 1930s to encourage people to visit destinations across Yorkshire.The artworks have been unveiled as part of Railway 200 – the 200th anniversary of the birth of the modern railway – and the project was funded by rail company Northern.Kerry Peters, Northern regional director, said: "The posters these young artists have produced are brilliant and we would like to thank them for all their hard work."We asked them to come up with captivating designs – in the style of the iconic British Railways adverts – and they have surpassed our expectations."The students should be incredibly proud of this display, which advertises destinations that people can travel to by train in Yorkshire."

Another recent deal was with luxury car maker Bentley, where she told followers she had been lent the car in return for a social media post. Her father is conspicuously absent from her media posts despite having a proven track record of boosting brands. His appearances in a fitted waistcoat at the 2018 World Cup caused a 35 per cent rise in sales of them at M&S.

Italian museum's plea after couple break crystal-covered chair
An Italian museum has called on patrons to "respect art" after a couple was filmed breaking a chair covered in hundreds of glittering released by the Palazzo Maffei, in Verona, shows a man and woman taking pictures of each other while pretending to sit on the so-called "Van Gogh" man then appears to slip and fall onto the chair, crushing it underneath him. Officials say the couple fled the museum before staff noticed what happened. They have since notified police about the pair, who have not been identified."Sometimes we lose our brains to take a picture, and we don't think about the consequences," says museum director Vanessa Carlon."Of course it was an accident, but these two people left without speaking to us - that isn't an accident," she adds. "This is a nightmare for any museum". The BBC understands this incident happened in April. Palazzo Maffei released the footage on 12 chair was built by Italian artist Nicola Bolla and is bejewelled with Swarovski crystals made from polished, machine-cut glass. Strictly's Tess Daly left in tears as she reveals 'greatest surprise of my life'

More info Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly has revealed she was left in tears upon receiving a letter announcing her MBE for services to broadcasting. The 56-year-old has been honoured alongside her Strictly colleague Claudia Winkleman, who has also received an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours list. For Tess however, the recognition almost didn't happen as the crucial letter had initially gone missing. In a statement, she shared: "This genuinely came as the greatest surprise of my life. I don't think I've come back down to earth yet, I didn't see it coming, and it almost didn't happen, because the letter went to the wrong address. "And thank goodness, someone very kind found me. And so by the time I got it, I only had, I think it was two or three days left to accept it. There's a deadline of acceptance. I can't imagine not ever wanting to accept such a wonderful award. But of course I did. "It was a close call indeed, given it landed at the incorrect address initially, but thankfully all ended well." Reflecting on her emotional reaction to the letter, she added: "I cried when I opened the letter, because I just I couldn't believe it. I genuinely couldn't, and the first thing I wanted to do was tell my dad, because I lost my dad many years ago, and I know how proud my dad would have been, and I would love to have shared that news with him more than anything. "He would have been incredibly proud in a very Northern, humble fashion. Because you're under strict instructions, of course, not to share the news before it's made public. But I must admit, I did tell immediate members of my family and swore them to secrecy." For example, being part of Strictly and part of people's Saturday nights for the past 20 years is something that you don't ever take that for granted, and it's just something that I've genuinely enjoyed being a part of all these years. "And as a career, it's been something really special to share people's lives in that way it feels like a wonderful honour."
