India fell in the 3rd Test of the five-match series against England at Lord's on Monday. After a hard-fought battle over the last five days, the visitors ended up falling 22 runs short of the target set by
Ben Stokes
' side.
While the game had several excitng moments, from Jofra Archer's exciting return, to several verbal spats and heated moments between players, it was a sublime display by the England bowlers that ended India's hopes of taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

After starting the first session on Sunday at 58/4, India needed 135 runs to win with six wickets in hand. However, the loss of crucial wickets such as that of KL Rahul and
Rishabh Pant
left
Ravindra Jadeja
the responsibility of getting India over the finish line. While the all-rounder ultimately fell short of the target, he was lauded for his marathon effort with
Jasprit Bumrah
and then
Mohammed Siraj
towards the end.
His impressive 61* off 181 balls gave India hope after a turbulent and disastrous Day 5.
After the game, England legend and former skipper
Alastair Cook
analysed India's defeat, and singled out one paricular reason why
Gautam Gambhir
's men lost the 3rd Test. While the obvious reasons point to Rishabh Pant's unfortunate run out on Day 3, Cook singled out another flaw from India. "They played it in their way. It almost worked. I've never seen a side go that way, you know? We're gonna take one (run) an over.

If we take 60 overs, we'll get there in 60 overs," said Cook, speaking for BBC Sport.

What do you think was the key factor in India's loss at Lord's?
Rishabh Pant's run out
Loss of early wickets
Bowling performance of England
Lack of aggressive batting strategy
Jadeja's incredible resilience drew praise from the former Test captain. The 36-year-old, who is ranked as the best all-rounder in the world in the red-ball format, battled at the crease for 181 balls. "Incredible mental fortitude by Jadeja to do it. I think they'll look back and think they should have been more proactive, but its not that bit, its the batting at the top, 40-1 and cruising, to suddenly lose those four wickets there has hurt them," said Cook.
India will play the 4th Test at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in 8 days, where they will need to pull off a crucial win if they are to stay alive in the series.

'She's the brains': Aaron Rodgers opens up on how his sister-in-law helped seal his $13.65M Pittsburgh Steelers deal

Aaron Rodgers reveals the truth behind his one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers (Image via Imagn Images) Aaron Rodgers didn't just take a pay cut this offseason—he let someone unexpected call the shots. The future Hall of Famer surprised fans by crediting his 20-year-old sister-in-law, Mia, for helping shape his one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Instead of chasing a massive payday, Rodgers chose purpose over price—and now he's setting his sights on one more Super Bowl run. And yes, Mia might deserve some of the credit if it happens. Aaron Rodgers says his sister-in-law was the unexpected power player Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract with Pittsburgh—well below market value for a quarterback of his stature. But during media availability, he joked that he wasn't really the one making the final call. 'I was taking orders from my (new) sister-in-law, Mia,' he said, smiling. 'She's 20 and she's the brains of the family; you just have to ask her.' The remark quickly caught attention, not just for its humor, but for what it revealed about Rodgers' current headspace—calmer, more grounded, and surrounded by a family circle that clearly weighs in. He added, 'No — but that is partially serious for sure,' hinting that Mia's influence wasn't entirely a punchline. Rodgers says he doesn't need the money — he's playing for something bigger in Pittsburgh While other quarterbacks may have chased bigger numbers, Rodgers went in with a different pitch: he wasn't in it for the money. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like You Can Book Maximum Profits in Option Trading with Mr. Gopal Laxman Rekha Strategy ! It's a veteran move from someone who's already secured his legacy but wants one last chapter to matter—on his terms. That mindset made Pittsburgh the right landing spot: a historic franchise, passionate fanbase, and a team ready for a leader, not just a quarterback. 'I like our chances': Aaron Rodgers believes the Steelers are built to compete for a championship Rodgers didn't just show up in Pittsburgh to ride out his final season—he believes this team has real title potential. 'A lot of guys are battle-strong and have been through some tough stuff,' he said, referencing the roster's resilience. He also praised head coach Mike Tomlin's leadership: 'And with the leadership we've got — and with Mike T. — I like our chances.' That vote of confidence from a seasoned vet signals he's not settling; he's aiming high, and he believes this locker room can get there. Whether Mia actually helped draw up the terms or simply offered emotional support, Rodgers' shoutout made waves for its authenticity. It's a glimpse into his current mindset—humble, lighthearted, and driven by something deeper than stats or contracts. For Steelers fans, it's a sign that their new quarterback is bringing heart as well as skill—and maybe a secret weapon in Mia. And if this season ends with confetti and a trophy, Rodgers just might say, 'Told you she was the brains. The East Zone zonal selectors, who convened in a meeting at JSCA International Stadium on Friday, have appointed India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan as the side's captain. Shami hasn't been in competitive cricket action since IPL 2025, where he picked up only six wickets in nine innings at an economy rate of 11.23 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The veteran right-arm pacer, who last played for India in their victorious 2025 Champions Trophy campaign, was recently named in Bengal's probables list for the Ranji Trophy. Easwaran, the right-handed opener who's warmed the bench in the ongoing Test series against England, will be the vice-captain. Other prominent players include India all-rounder Riyan Parag and Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra. Teenaged left-handed opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made heads turn with a 35-ball century in IPL 2025 for Rajasthan Royals and had a productive time on the U19 tour of England, is amongst the stand-by players. The Duleep Trophy will be held in the old zonal format of six teams and marks the beginning of 2025/26 domestic cricket season. East Zone will begin their campaign with a quarter-final clash against North Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground, with the game's winner set to meet South Zone in the semi-final. Kumar Dharmasena pacifies KL Rahul after Krishna-Root fight; India star replies ‘What do you want us to do? Be quite?'

Tempers flared at The Oval on Friday when India pacer Prasidh Krishna got involved in a heated exchange of words with England batter Joe Root on the second day of the fifth and final Test. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy has been no short of entertainment and the Krishna-Root fight added another drama in the growing list. The incident took place on the 22nd over of England's first innings when Krishna threw some words at Root after the England batter opened his account with a boundary through the gully region. Root, a cool and calm character, looked visibly miffed, gave it back to the Indian. Although its unclear what the conversation was about between the duo, the umpires had to intervene and calm things down. While Root chose not to escalate things further, on-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena had a word with Krishna, warning him. However, things didn't end there. KL Rahul, who was lurking around, made his entry into the scene and had his version with Dharmasena, the conversation of which was caught in the stump mic. 'What do you want us to do? Be quite?' was Rahul's first reaction to Dharmasena. 'You will like any other bowler come and talk to you? No, you can't do that. We should not go that way,' was Dharmasena's reply to Rahul. In response the Indian batter said, 'What do you want us to do? Just bat and bowl and go home?' The Sri Lanka then replied, 'We will discuss at the end of the match. You can't talk like that.' Root was finally dismissed for 29 after Mohammed Siraj hit his pads straight in front. Meanwhile rain stopped play for the first time on Day 2 after Tea break with England at 242/8 in 48 overs. Having started the day at 204/6, India lasted only 34 balls in the morning to be all out for 224. In reply, England were off to a flier with Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley putting on 92 runs for the first wicket. However, India made a huge comeback with Mohammed Siraj and Krishna sharing seven wickets between them after Akash Deep frew the first blood. It must be noted that England will bat nine wickets in the Test match since Chris Woakes has been ruled out with an injury.
