Taylor Swift tears up telling story of how she got her masters back
Speaking to boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce on a "New Heights" podcast episode that very aptly dropped Aug. 13, Swift choked up multiple times while telling the story.
As Swift grew emotional, she explained, "I don't ever really talk about it."
"I haven't gotten my hopes up about this in a decade," she explained. It was a couple of months after the Super Bowl when she got a call from her mom that delivered the good news: "You got your music."
Swift struggled to say this as she teared up once again. "I very dramatically hit the floor, for real. Bawling my eyes out," she told the Kelces.
Taylor Swift's mom Andrea and brother Austin helped bring her masters home
"After the Eras Tour, I had a meeting with my team, and we decided this might be a good time to approach the current owners of (her masters)," Swift said.
"The owners of it was a private equity firm called Shamrock Capital. I knew them to be aboveboard people; they had been very friendly to us," she continued. "What I was looking to do, though, was I wanted to buy my music outright. I don't want to be in a partnership; I don't want to own 30% of it. I want to own all of it. But it was a long shot to think they would do that."
She chose to make this a personal matter rather than a business decision.
"I'm in the business of human emotion. I would so much rather lead heart-first in something like this. Because for me, this is not 'I want to own this asset because of its returns,'" Swift explained. "Everything that I've ever done is in this catalogue."
"Rather than send lawyers or management and a big crew," she instead flew out her mom Andrea and brother Austin, as her emissaries of sorts to potentially broker the deal in Los Angeles.
"They told them the whole story of all the times we've tried to buy it, all the times it's fallen through. All the times we had gotten plans together and figured out something we thought was going to work and it didn't last minute," Swift said.
And it worked.
Travis Kelce also cried over Taylor Swift's music catalog news
"Nothing New" collaborator Phoebe Bridgers was one of the first to hear the news, Swift said, reenacting the barely coherent, weepy phone call.
She explained that Travis was playing video games when she knocked on the door to tell him she got all her music back.
"I was so happy you were there when that happened. Because I couldn't stand," Swift told Travis.
"I mean, I started crying too. You know I'm a crier," he said. Holding her hand, he said, "I was blown away that you had been doing this your entire life."

NFL Reporter Laura Rutledge Reacts to Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift News on Monday
NFL Reporter Laura Rutledge Reacts to Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift News on Monday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The NFL preseason is fully underway, but off the field, news broke on Monday that had everything to do with one of the game's best tight ends of one of the best teams in the league. Travis Kelce, the star tight end of the Kansas City Chiefs, will finally have his girlfriend, pop star Taylor Swift, on his "New Heights" podcast after months of fans' demand. The two have one of the most high-profile relationships, not just in the NFL but in all of sports and entertainment, even though some football fans find the attention it has attracted annoying. Kelce and Swift recently announced that the pop superstar will make an appearance by posting a teaser video on Instagram. NFL reporter Terry Rutledge couldn't contain her excitement over the news. 'OMGGGGGGGGGG,' Rutledge commented on Instagram. Rutledge Has Become a Big Figure in Sports Journalism In recent years, more and more women have been dominating sports reporting, and Rutledge has been all over the place when it comes to football. She started as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports, covering the network's broadcast of Tampa Bay Rays games and subsequently San Diego Padres contests. In 2013, she hosted "Chargers Insider," a show covering the then-San Diego Chargers. A year later, Rutledge started hosting halftime and postgame shows for Fox's coverage of college football. She became the host of the SEC Network's "SEC Nation" in 2017, and in 2020, she started hosting "NFL Live" on ESPN. Kelce and Swift Are the NFL's Resident Celebrity Couple The relationship between Kelce and Swift reportedly began in the summer of 2023, when Kelce shared during an episode of "New Heights" that he tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet, but he also clarified it didn't lead to anything then. Early in the 2023 season, he said on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he invited Swift to a Chiefs game. She then attended their Week 3 home contest against the Chicago Bears, and the two were seen riding off in Kelce's convertible afterward. The following week, Swift was at MetLife Stadium when Kansas City visited the New York Jets. Things snowballed from there, and before long, the two were confirmed to be dating. Plenty of football fans have complained about the attention Swift has gotten during telecasts of Chiefs games, which included camera shots of her sitting in the luxury suite at Arrowhead Stadium. But she has apparently brought in more fans and higher ratings for the NFL, which isn't exactly a bad thing. The Chiefs went on to win their third Super Bowl championship in five years by escaping the San Francisco 49ers at the end of the 2023 season. They lost decisively in last season's big game to the Philadelphia Eagles, and with plenty counting them out for 2025, they could end up having a chip on their shoulders once Week 1 story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 12, 2025, where it first appeared.

Kristen Wiig & Bill Hader Offended Taylor Swift in SNL's Hysterical Hollywood Dish
When Taylor Swift embarks on the press tour to promote her new album The Life of a Showgirl, it's safe to say she won't be visiting "Hollywood Dish." When Swift hosted Saturday Night Live in Season 35 on November 7, 2009, she was just two weeks away from the 2009 American Music Awards, where she was the most-nominated artist. It was also just two months after the VMAs, when Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech for Best Female Video. Swift's huge year included this sketch from her double-duty episode, in which she met chaotic celebrity interviewers Brady Trunk (Bill Hader) and Anastasia Sticks (Kristen Wiig). As the sketch starts, Swift immediately claims to be a big fan of Brady, Anastasia, and their Hollywood Dish show. They're flattered, but not flattered enough to go easy on the singer."Six American Music Award nominations. Not bad!" may seem like an innocuous beginning, but Swift is quickly thrown by Brady and Anastasia's unnerving facial expressions and synchronized head movements. "I'm sorry, is everything okay?" Swift asks. "It's just you're nodding a lot, and I thought maybe you were trying to tell me something." "Oh, no, no, no! We just don't want to talk while you're talking," Wiig's character explains. "It'll screw up the sound," Brady adds. "We just do that so you know we're engaged." Ever the amiable guest, Swift plays Swift kept her composure while Bill Hader spit in Kristen Wiig's face Problem is, those active listening facial expressions get a thousand times worse. As Swift shares her nerves about performing live, they mime screaming. When she shares that she feels pretty good about winning at the AMAs, they shake their heads and whisper to each other. "What do you think about Ellen joining American Idol?" Brady asks. "American Idol? I don't really watch it, honestly," she admits — whereupon Hader spits his full beverage in Wiig's face. From there, they smear lipstick on their faces, eat ice cream, and even fall asleep as Swift tries to answer their questions, then leaves when it all becomes too much. Of course, that's not what the final edit shows. Watch "Hollywood Dish" from Season 35, Episode 5 above, and stream every season of Saturday Night Live on Peacock anytime."Hollywood Dish" aired two more times with Jennifer Lopez and Scarlett Johansson Swift starred in the first iteration of "Hollywood Dish," but Anastasia and Brady returned twice in 2010 to interview Jennifer Lopez and Scarlett Johansson. They drove both stars to breakdowns, and they've never conducted another interview since, so it's not a stretch to imagine that they might have finally been fired. Hollywood Dish with Scarlett Johansson Swift has only hosted that one time, but that episode resulted in plenty of memorable moments. In Digital Short "Firelight," Swift channeled Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan in a romance with one of Frankenstein's monsters, played by Hader. She also debuted her impression of Kate Gosselin in a parody of The View, complete with a wig that will be hard to unsee. Solve the daily Crossword

Taylor Swift looking at Las Vegas venues amid 'The Life of a Showgirl' announcement
Taylor Swift looking at Las Vegas venues amid 'The Life of a Showgirl' announcement originally appeared on The Sporting News Taylor Swift is reportedly looking at Las Vegas venues to showcase her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl. According to The US Sun, "Taylor's team has been talking about Vegas gigs in private for a while, including at a dinner a few months back in Nashville with other music managers," an insider told the publication. "They are seeing what would work for the new album and have specifically been eyeing up concerts at Sphere," the insider added." "Nothing is confirmed yet, but they are discussing logistics and which venue could work best," the source concluded. Swift announced her 12th studio album on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce. Due to The Sphere's location in Vegas, which matches the album's theme and unique visual assets -- it features the largest LED screen ever constructed -- the venue would be perfect for an artist of Swift's caliber. "Given how unique Sphere is from a production perspective, fans will no doubt be foaming at the mouth to see how Taylor could potentially use the venue," the insider added. The venue is massive with 20,000 seats, but it is much smaller than the arenas Swift performed in during her Eras Tour, with stadium seating was around 70,000 to 80,000. She would, however, have no problem selling it out as the Eras Tour, which ran from March 2023 to December 2024, sold over 10 million tickets. "There's nothing like it in the world," the insider said of The Sphere. "U2 and the Backstreet Boys have already shown what's possible, but Taylor would take things to the next level." During her interview on New Heights, she told Travis and Jason that after performing in over 100 shows, she misses it but that "it feels great" that it's over. "I miss it. I do miss it, but it's like it was perfect for what it was. Do you know what I mean? And it was a lot of physical therapy, and it was a lot of being in a state of perpetual physical discomfort — kind of like when you're in season," Swift told the Kelce brothers. The insider shared that, "generally speaking, a mini Vegas run wouldn't be bad for her. Touring is exhausting, and staying in one place for a bit would be a lot easier." The Life of a Showgirl is out on Oct. 3. There is no news of a tour or residency at this time.
