Oregon Basketball guard TJ Bamba set to join Brooklyn Nets for 2025 NBA Summer League
Following the draft, Jon Chepkevich of Draft Express announced that Bamba would be joining the Brooklyn Nets for the 2025 NBA Summer League, a majority of which will take place in Las Vegas, NV.
Bamba's college career began at Washington State for three seasons before transferring to Villanova for one season and finally Oregon for his final year of eligibility.
He provided an immediate impact, starting all 35 games and recording 10.5 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 38.9% from the field and 25.3% from three-point range. Bamba's slashing ability boded well alongside the long range shooting of point guard Jackson Shelstad in the backcourt.
But where he made the biggest difference was on the defensive end, as he averaged 1.8 steals per game and routinely took on the toughest guard matchup for the Ducks, showing competitiveness and anticipatory skills as an on-ball defender.
He was rewarded for his efforts with a Big Ten All-Defensive team honor as well as being named a finalist for the Lefty Driesell award, given to the top defensive player in Division I.
He'll enter a crowded backcourt on the Nets' summer league team, which will presumably feature four of their 2025 first-round picks in guards Egor Demin (No. 8 overall), Nolan Traoré (No. 19), Drake Powell (No. 22) and Ben Saraf (No. 26).
Though there may not be too many shots to go around, Bamba's calling card is his defensive ability and competitiveness -- two things that will suit him well during summer league and as he navigates a pro basketball career.

BOSTON (AP) — The NBA on Wednesday unanimously approved the sale of the Boston Celtics to a group led by private equity mogul Bill Chisholm, a deal that values the franchise at more than $6.1 billion — the largest ever for an American professional sports team. The league said the transaction is expected to close shortly. When it does, Chisholm will take ownership of at least 51% of the team, with full control coming by 2028 at a price that could bring the total value to $7.3 billion. The previous record for a U.S. sports franchise was the $6.05 billion paid for the NFL's Washington Commanders in 2023. The record price for an NBA team was the $4 billion mortgage firm owner Mat Ishbia paid for the Phoenix Suns in 2023. A Massachusetts native and graduate of Dartmouth College and Penn's Wharton School of business, Chisholm is the managing partner of California-based Symphony Technology Group. The new ownership group also includes Boston businessmen Rob Hale, who is a current Celtics shareholder, and Bruce Beal Jr. Wyc Grousbeck led the ownership group that bought the team in 2002 for $360 million and presided over NBA championships in 2008 and '24. The franchise's 18 NBA titles is a record. Chisholm outbid at least two other groups, one led by previous Celtics minority partner Steve Pagliuca. NBA approves $6.1bn sale of Boston Celtics
The NBA on Wednesday approved the sale of the Boston Celtics to an investment group led by Bill Chisholm, five months after the deal worth a then-record $6.1 billion was agreed. "The NBA Board of Governors has unanimously approved the sale of the controlling interests in the Boston Celtics to an investor group led by Bill Chisholm," the league said in a brief statement. "The transaction is expected to close shortly." Chisholm is the managing director and co-founder of Symphony Technology Group. When he and his co-investors agreed to purchase the storied Celtics franchise "at an initial valuation of $6.1 billion," that was the highest ever offered for a North American sports team. It has since been surpassed by the $10 billion sale, in June, of the Los Angeles Lakers by the Buss family to billionaire Mark Walter. When the Celtics sale was announced, it was stated that Wyc Grousbeck would continue in his roles of chief executive officer and governor, overseeing team operations through the 2027-28 season. The Grousbeck family and Steve Pagliuca purchased the Celtics for $360 million in 2002. But US media reported this week that Chisholm -- a Massachusetts native who calls himself a "die-hard Celtics fan" -- will assume the role of governor because under the terms of the deal, Grousbeck will no longer have the required 15% ownership stake the league requires to hold that role. Nevertheless, ESPN reported that Chisholm and Grousbeck "plan to run the team together as originally planned." Former Oregon Ducks WR Ryan Pellum commits to play for DeSean Jackson at Delaware State
Former Oregon Ducks wide receiver Ryan Pellum has reportedly found a new home after entering the transfer portal last year and leaving Eugene. According to On3's Pete Nakos, Pellum is transferring to Delaware State, where he will play for DeSean Jackson and the Hornets. Pellum announced his transfer back in January of this year. He was one of four wide receivers in his class to enroll at Oregon, and he was rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 145 player and No. 26 WR in the 2024 class. As a freshman, Pellum played just 11 snaps, eight of which were on special teams. Not long after announcing his transfer from Oregon, Pellum was arrested on charges of aggravated assault using a semi-automatic firearm and discharging a gun on Christmas night in East Long Beach that sent a man to the hospital. He pleaded not guilty to these charges. Pellum will now be a name to know at Delaware State, where Jackson will coach his first year in 2025. In 2024, Jackson completed his first year as a football coach, working with the staff at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, Calif. Now he is taking over an FCS school and looking to lead Delaware State to success in the MEAC. Should he be able to do that, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Jackson move up the coaching ranks and become a hot name in the FBS world.
