"Happy that people of Japan have supported India's fight against terrorism": BJP MP Brij Lal
Tokyo [Japan], May 23 (ANI): BJP MP Brij Lal expressed happiness that the people of Japan have supported India's fight against terrorism and called the meetings with Japanese officials 'good.' He said that India has been suffering due to terrorism for nearly four decades and did not react till 2016.
Brij Lal, who is part of the JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha-led delegation, which is on a visit to Japan and other East Asian nations, mentioned how India has retaliated against terrorists after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office. He recalled the airstrikes conducted in Balakot and the surgical strike carried out in 2016.
He stated that the world appreciates India's stance against terrorism and knows that India is a peaceful nation. He asserted that India will destroy terrorist bases and their sponsors if it is attacked.
On all-party delegation's meeting Japanese Foreign Minister and think tanks, he said, 'The meeting was very good. We were happy that the people of Japan have supported India's fight against terrorism. India has been suffering for nearly four decades and you must remember, we did not react till 2016. I was serving as Additional Director General in the UP when the 2008 26/11 occured, where 170 people were killed. Among them were, two IPS officers, Hemant Karkare IGN, Ashok Kamte DIG. It went on for three days, Kasab was caught and nine were killed, total evidence.'
'After that, when PM Modi came in 2014, we launched a surgical strike in 2016 when they attacked us. We were thinking that Pakistan would understand now. In 2019, they again carried out attacks and we conducted an airstrike in Balakot. After 2019, we were thinking that Pakistan might understand. In the April 22 attack, they killed people after asking about their religion. A lady asked them to kill her too, her husband was killed, so they said go and give a message to the Prime Minister. After that, we carried out a precise attack and by carrying out precise attack, we did not kill civilians, we only destroyed their terrorist infrastructure. After that we know that Pakistan would retaliate. They attacked, and after that, we destroyed their bases. We are telling this to the entire world; the world is understanding that we did not escalate... Today, the entire world is understanding... They are appreciating our stand and that we are a peaceful country, but if we are attacked, then this is the new India, Modi's India, and we will destroy the terrorist bases and their sponsors if we are attacked,' he added.
An All-Party Parliamentary delegation from India, led by Sanjay Kumar Jha, Member of Parliament, is on a visit to Japan from May 22 to 24. On Thursday, the delegation met Japan's Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya.
The delegation also met former Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga and current Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party and Chairman of the Japan-India Association, as well as Takashi Endo, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on National Security.
Both leaders affirmed Japan's continued support for India's efforts against terrorism, the official statement added. The Indian delegation also held an interaction with leading Japanese think tanks, briefing participants on India's zero tolerance policy on terrorism. Participants expressed strong support for India's counterterrorism stance during the discussions.
The all-party delegation projects India's national consensus and resolute approach to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will convey to the world the country's strong message of zero tolerance for terrorism. (ANI)
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
After the attack, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling across the Line of Control and Jammu and Kashmir as well as attempted drone attacks along the border regions, following which India launched a coordinated attack and damaged radar infrastructure, communication centres and airfields across airbases in Pakistan. After this, on May 10, an understanding of the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced. (ANI)

ACB summons ex-Delhi ministers Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain in classroom construction scam case
NEW DELHI: The Anti-Corruption Bureau has summoned Aam Aadmi Party ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain regarding allegations of a Rs 2,000 crore corruption scam in the construction of government school classrooms in New Delhi. The investigation follows a complaint by BJP leaders claiming inflated costs for semi-permanent classroom construction, with 34 contractors allegedly linked to AAP. Minister Satyendar Jain has been called to appear at the ACB office on June 6, while Manish Sisodia is required to appear in Court on June 9. The complaint details irregularities in constructing approximately 12,748 classrooms at a reported cost of Rs 2,892 crore. The awarded tenders showed a cost of Rs 24.86 lakh per classroom, despite similar structures typically costing around Rs five lakh in Delhi. The project allegedly involved 34 contractors, with most having reported connections to the AAP. ACB chief Madhur Verma noted that during verification, it was discovered that the Expenditure Finance Committee had determined in its 2015-16 meetings that the project should be completed by June 2016 within the sanctioned cost, without allowance for future cost escalations.

He accused Pakistan of encouraging terrorism in Indian territory and condemned its continued illegal occupation of parts of Jammu and Kashmir. 'Pakistan is a failed state. We don't have democracy in Pakistan. We have the people of parts of Pakistan, who are suffering under Pakistani military rule. So who's in charge? Is it the democracy or the Generals? And it's quite clear that terrorism is encouraged from Pakistan into sovereign India," Blackman told ANI. He continued, 'And so we've got to make sure we have to call out the message that the illegal occupation of part of India in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistan should end. Those troops should leave, and the whole of Jammu and Kashmir should be united as one principal state, as was intended back in 1947. Echoing the Opposition's demand for a Special Session of Parliament to discuss Operation Sindoor, Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray alleged that the BJP is doing dirty politics over Operation Sindoor. Speaking to the media, Thackeray said, "Yes, we are demanding this (Special Session). On one hand, we are united before the world; the opposition and ruling side are going out as a united front before the world and telling them how Pakistan-based terrorism can be dismantled. But on the other hand, a few leaders of the BJP are doing dirty politics in our country in the name of Operation Sindoor. We want to fight against it." The Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA raised questions regarding the Pahalgam attack and asked if the terrorists have been caught. "Truth should come out that how the terrorist (behind the Pahalgam terrorist attack) came there. Have they been caught? Where are they? Have they entered the BJP? It is essential to ask this," he said. On controversial statements being made over Eid al-Adha, Aaditya Thackeray said that the government should not interfere in festivals. He added that the government should focus on farmers' suicides and flooding due to heavy rainfall, instead of festivals. "Why should calls be made to save this or save that in every festival? Celebrate festivals. It is always save water, save colour, save this and save that. Let people breathe. It is not the job of the government. The government's job is to see that if farmers are dying by suicide, go and support them. If houses are flooded in rain, go and check why it happened. The government's job is to search for the four Pakistani terrorists who came here. It is not their job to interfere with festivals," Thackeray said. Meanwhile, leaders of the INDIA bloc held a meeting in the Constitution Club, Delhi, on Tuesday and furthered the demand for a Special Session of Parliament. Post the meeting, speaking to media, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said, 'There are signatures of 16 political parties on the letter that we have written to the Prime Minister. This is not a normal letter. The opposition is the voice of the public. We want a special session to be called to discuss whatever has happened in the country so far...'
