David Beckham knighthood latest as huge achievement is tainted with sadness
Sir David Beckham has reached many amazing achievements throughout his longstanding career in sport and showbiz – all of which are now likely to be topped by last night's announcement that he is to be knighted. The 50 year old star, who is being recognised in the Kings Birthday Honours List for his services to Sport and Charity, has finally secured his long awaited knighthood. Speaking out about the incredible recognition, Sir David said he was "humbled" in a statement shared with the . He said: "I'm so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I'm grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family." Sadly for the new Sir and Lady Beckham, the star's huge achievement has been tainted as the couple are currently embroiled in a sad fallout with their eldest son Brooklyn Peltz Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham. And it appears that feud is still ongoing as Brooklyn appears to have snubbed his dad's huge achievement on his social media pages. Despite Beckham's family heartache, the footie legend will undoubtedly see this moment in his life as one to remember – as he has wanted a knighthood for a long, long time. Stay tuned on our live blog as we give you all the updates from the reaction of Sir David's knighthood and what it now means for the megastar and his wife, formerly known as Posh and now titled Lady Victoria Beckham. Romeo Beckham gushed over his pride for his dad in a sweet Instagram post, shared shortly after the news was released last night. The 22 year old son of David and Victoria posted a photo of himself and his dad at David's 50th birthday celebration – which son Brooklyn was noticibly absent from – on his Instagram story. The image showed a smiling Romeo looking lovingly at his dad as David pulls a face at the camera. "So so proud of you," Romeo gushed as he added four white heart emojis to the post. Sir David, who was made an OBE in 2003 and has been in the running for a knighthood for more than a decade, said in a statement to the Mirror: "Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour. To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true. Off the pitch I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to represent Britain around the world and work with incredible organisations that are supporting communities in need and inspiring the next generation. "I'm so lucky to be able to do the work that I do and I'm grateful to be recognised for work that gives me so much fulfilment. It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family." Days after speculation of David's upcoming knighthood, the King's Birthday Honours List finally confirmed he has received the long-awaited title. The ex-England and Manchester United player, who was given an OBE in 2003, said he was "immensly proud" for the gong to services to sport and charity. Sir David joins 1,215 recognised in the Honours List, including The Who singer Roger Daltrey, Hollywood icon Gary Oldman, TV legends Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, and teenage darts sensastion Luke Littler.

Netflix's Virgin River season 7 release date as star confirms exciting news
Season seven of the hit Netflix show Virgin River could be airing on sooner than expected, as Alexandra Breckenridge drops some exciting news... Virgin River fans have a reason to get excited as Alexandra Breckenridge - who stars as Mel Monroe in the beloved Netflix drama - has offered an exciting update on the long-awaited seventh season. The hit romance series follows Mel, a nurse practitioner who relocates to the quiet town of Virgin River in Northern California after suffering a heartbreaking loss. There, she finds herself drawn to local bar owner and former marine, Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson). Their slow burning on and off again romance has captured the hearts of viewers over the past six seasons, with the pair finally tying the knot at the end of season six. Season seven promises more twists, shocking betrayals, unresolved family drama and the unraveling of a mysterious disappearance that has left viewers on the edge of their seats. Alexandra recently took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the set with her 1.3 million followers, hinting that production is nearly finished. "Good morning, I feel like I'm on day 857 of filming season 7," she joked in a video update. As laughter can be heard in the background of the video, Alexandra adds: "Can you hear that? There's people laughing outside. They seem to be having a grand old time." She then excitedly announces: "We're almost done! Can you believe it? I can't even believe it. Almost to the finish line." Alexandra went on to speculate about the possible release date for the upcoming season. "I keep wondering if they're going to put the show out this year. What do you guys think? Probably, right?" she speculated further. "I mean, if they have it, they'll probably drop it this year, 2025," she teased. However, she was quick to clarify her comments adding: "I don't know any information. I'm the last to know..." While fans will still have to wait for the official release date to come from Netflix and the show's producers, Alexandra's update is the strongest indication yet that fans might be seeing the seventh season sooner than they expected. The cast gathered in Vancouver earlier this year, to start filming the show. This led viewers to speculate that the seventh season would be released earlier in late January of next year. According to a Netflix insider site, the cast will wrap up on set on June 26, after filming 10 episodes for season seven. With filming for the sixth season spanning from February to May 2024, the production team managed to get the season edited and finished to be released just a few months later in December. This meant season six took a total of seven months in post-production before premiering on Netflix. This led fans to believe, by using a similar timeframe, that season seven would air on Netflix by January 2026. Although now with Alexandra's announcement, it could be sooner than we think.
