Four charged after mum killed by falling bricks on her way to son's nursery
Four construction workers have been charged with manslaughter over the death of a mum who was killed by falling bricks in East London.
Michaela Boor was en route to her son Kieran's nursery on March 29, 2018, when more than two tonnes of bricks tumbled five storeys from a building development in Bethnal Green, East London.
Paramedics attempted to save the 28-year-old's life as she lay among the rubble, but she died in hospital two days later.
Her life support had to be switched off by her family a day after her 29th birthday when she was declared brain-dead.
After a seven year investigation, the construction company and four workers at the site have been charged.
These include the crane operator, Alexander McInnes, 32, as well as the crane supervisor, Dawood Maan, 59.
Stephen Coulson, 68, who was in charge of the lifting plan on the building site, and site manager Thomas Anstis, 68, have also been charged.
A year after her death, Michaela's mother Alaina described the devastation her son Kieran, just 4 at the time, had to face in the wake of the tragedy.
She told MailOnline: ''Kieran knows that mummy is gone, that she got hurt and the doctors could not fix her.
'He thinks mummy is a star in the sky, he blows kisses to her.
'He is pretty resilient but he does get sad. And every day I have to walk with him past the spot that his mother was killed.
'How is he going to cope with looking at that when he is older?'
Alaina faced her own horror after Michaela's death as she had to make the agonizing decision to switch off life support after visiting her in hospital.
She added: 'When they finally let us see her, I could hardly recognise her, she had so many tubes sticking out of her.
'The doctors told us that she was brain-dead and said we should turn off her life-support.
'But I couldn't do it. I begged them to let us keep her for one more day because the next day was her birthday.' More Trending
Michaela was eventually laid to rest a month later at Manor Park crematorium in east London.
The four men have been charged with gross negligence manslaughter and offences under section 7 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
The company Higgins Homes PLC faces charges of corporate manslaughter and offences under Section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
The defendants are due to appear at Westminster magistrates' court on June 16.

The family of three Britons jailed in Indonesia for alleged drug smuggling have said they are worried for their safety. Jon Collyer, 38, and Lisa Stocker, 39 were arrested at Bali International Airport following the discovery of £300,000 worth of cocaine. But the nation has not carried out an execution since 2016 and in the last few months has repatriated several foreign convicts of drug offences. Mr Collyer and his partner Ms Stocker, both from East Sussex, were stopped on arrival in Bali in February and were later allegedly found to be in possession of a total of 17 packages of cocaine, with a market value of £296,000. Jon's father Julian said he was in 'deep shock' for his son, with whom he had only been in contact once in the last three weeks. He told MailOnline: 'I'm very, very worried as any father or parent would be.' An anonymous relative of Ms Stocker said the mother had been taken advantage of and that she 'couldn't sleep at night' thinking about what might happen to her. Dean, a friend of Jon's said he was unaware the couple had travelled to Indonesia and said the situation was 'an absolute mess'. He added he was 'horrified' to learn they had both been arrested and charged with smuggling narcotics. Several high profile foreign drug smugglers have been allowed to return home from Indonesia in recent months. Serge Atlaoui, who was sentenced to death for drug offences in 2007, was repatriated to France in February. Last December Philippine drug convict Mary Jane Veloso was returned to Manila after more than a decade on death row. The trio are just three of many British nationals held abroad for drug smuggling offences. Retired vicar admits role in 'Eunuch Maker' extreme body modification ring
A retired vicar has admitted taking part in an extreme body modification ring run by a man calling himself the Eunuch Maker. Reverend Geoffrey Baulcomb, 79, pleaded guilty to GBH with intent after using a pair of scissors to carry out a surgical procedure on a man's penis in January 2020. He was captured in a nine-second video performing the makeshift op, which involved the enlarging the opening of a man's urethra. Baulcomb previously admitted to distributing an indecent photo of a child in March 2020 and three counts of making indecent images of children on or before December 2022. He also pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images, amounting to 195 images. The images are linked to the self-styled 'Eunuch Maker' Marius Gustavson, who mutilated paying customers and streamed it online. Norwegian Gustavson, who had his own penis cut off, a nipple removed and his leg frozen so it had to be amputated, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 22 years. His penis was found in a drawer in his home almost four years after it had been amputated. Baulcomb was arrested in connection with the incident in December 2022. He was ordained as a priest in 1970 and worked in Chichester, West Sussex, according to the Church of England website. Judge Nigel Lickley KC granted Baulcomb conditional bail, ordering him not to attend any Church of England premises or functions and to have no contact with children under the age of 18. Boy, 13, 'gang raped by classmates on school trip' before being blackmailed
A 13-year-old schoolboy was allegedly gang raped by a gang of classmates during a sports school trip - the victim has reportedly already endured months of bullying and was blackmailed A schoolboy was allegedly gang raped by five of his classmates, when he was just 13 years old, during a school sports trip to Malaga, before he was left in a catatonic state. The young victim, now 16, was then blackmailed and forced to keep the horrific abuse a secret as he was terrified the shameless bullies would go after his younger sibling. The victim had already been bullied at school by a cruel gang, three of them had been under 14, mocked about his acne and glasses and excluded from events. This cruelty spiralled into an alleged disgusting act while on a school sports trip to Malaga, Spain. The barbarous gang allegedly ambushed the then 13-year-old, during their trip in March 2022, in the hallway of a hotel before they forced him into a bathroom. They supposedly locked the victim in the bathroom while some members of the horror group allegedly raped him while others cheered the disgusting act on. Some of the classmates, from the school in Valencia, Spain, said "let him suffer, let him suffer, I want to see him suffer", according to a reconstruction of the events. The then 13-year-old was reportedly blackmailed into staying silent about the traumatic event, as the victim believed they would target his younger brother. He even reportedly endured 300 phone calls from one of the gang members after the supposed attack and more threats sent through social media. This victim endured two more months of daily humiliation before he collapsed in his mother's arms and fell into a catatonic state. The horror attack and trauma he endured allegedly led to the boy experiencing amnesia, which he has used a psychologist to help work through this with. The boy was taken to hospital and later admitted three more times over 35 days. The alarm was raised by the psychologist who reported the alleged attack and abuse to the school and the police. The victim recalled the names of the alleged attackers during his first appointment with the psychologist but he was not able to remember all of the details. One person has been charged in Valencia's Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, two years after the alleged gang rape attack, and they could face 15 months behind bars if found guilty. Other alleged members of this group were either too young to be criminally charged or they have not proven to be involved yet. A teacher at the school, according to the MailOnline, said: "Everyone at school knows a student was raped. The principal banned trips and overnight activities outside of Valencia after the complaint, ten children in the same grade left the school, and the members of the parent-teacher association resigned." The victim, now 16, was left with "chronic post-traumatic stress disorder with severe episodes of dissociative amnesia", according to local Spanish newspapers.
