YSRCP ZP chiefs meet Jagan, condemn attack on Krishna ZP chairperson
The ZP chairpersons who attended the meeting are Piria Vijaya (Srikakulam), Majji Srinivasarao (Vizianagaram), Jallipalli Subhadra (Alluri Sitarama Raju District), Vipparthi Venugopal Rao (East Godavari), Buchepalli Venkayyamma (Prakasam), Anam Arunamma (Sri Potti Sri Ramulu Nellore), Muthyala Ramagovindu Reddy (YSR district), Yerrabothula Papireddy (Kurnool), Boya Girijamma (Anantapur), and Govindappa Srinivasulu (Chittoor). During the meeting, the leaders strongly condemned the recent alleged attack on Krishna district ZP chairperson Uppala Harika, by TDP activists. They expressed their solidarity with Harika and extended their gratitude to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his steadfast support during this challenging period.
Jagan Mohan Reddy advised the ZP chairpersons to prioritise strengthening local governance institutions. He also urged them to work diligently on fortifying the YSRCP from the booth level upwards, by devising a structured and action-oriented plan. He enquired about the progress of the 'Babu Surety Mosam Guarantee – Recalling Chandrababu's Manifesto' campaign, which is currently underway across the state.

'Alliance govt. has cheated people on VSP,' alleges YSRCP leader
YSRCP district president K.K. Raju has alleged that the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance government in the State has cheated the people by promising to fight against privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) before the elections but is going back on it now. Addressing the media on Thursday evening, Mr. Raju recalled that the previous YSRCP government had passed a resolution in the Assembly against the privatisation of VSP and formally communicated the same to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He demanded that the TDP and JSP MPs should withdraw their support to the Centre to pressure the Modi-led government to revoke its decision on the strategic sale of VSP. He urged the coalition government to demand allocation of captive mines to VSP for long-term viability. He also called upon the TDP and JSP leaders to join the agitation against the privatisation of VSP and show their commitment to the people of the State and North Andhra.

Unions demand pension for auto drivers hit by free bus ride scheme in A.P.
Members of various auto workers' unions, affiliated to Left parties, have criticised the government for implementing the free bus ride scheme for women without first addressing their concerns and fulfilling the promises made to them during elections. Addressing the media at the Press Club in Vijayawada on August 21, Thursday, leaders said the State government must consider providing pension to auto drivers whose livelihoods have been affected by the introduction of the free travel scheme. Recalling the election promises, A.P. Pragatiseela Auto Moto Workers' Federation State president K. Polari said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had promised establishment of a welfare board for auto drivers, provision of ₹15,000 per year to every taxi, auto and heavy vehicle driver and scrapping of Government Order (G.O.) 21, introduced by the YSRCP government. But, none of these promises have been fulfilled, Mr. Polari said. There is a strong demand for withdrawal of G.O. 21, which lays down provisions for stricter penalties for minor permit violations, such as charging drivers around ₹10,000 for taking more passengers than permitted. Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council leaders said they would try to arrange a meeting of leaders of different auto workers' unions with the Chief Minister to discuss the issues faced by the industry. Leaders of the auto unions said in case the meeting is delayed for long, they would have no choice but to organise State-wide protests. All the unions have decided to meet on August 28 to formulate the future course of action, depending on the response of the government. Members from the All India Road Transport Workers' Federation, A.P. Telugu Nadu Drivers and Owners' Association, Vijayawada Auto Owners and Drivers' Association and others took part.

War of words erupts between present and former TTD chiefs
Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), custodian of the world-renowned Lord Venkateswara temple, has once again turned into a political battlefield. The current TTD chairman BR Naidu and his predecessor Bhumana Karunakar Reddy are locked in a war of words, each accusing the other of corruption and mismanagement of temple affairs. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Chairman Naidu defended his nine-month tenure, asserting that transparency has guided every decision of the board. 'Not a single rupee of devotees' money has been misused. We are here to serve Lord Venkateswara, not to exploit his devotees,' he declared. Naidu claimed that all resolutions were taken only after due deliberation and insisted that irregularities were the legacy of previous administrations. Launching a direct attack on his predecessor, Naidu alleged that Karunakar Reddy's family benefitted personally from temple resources, citing inflated ticket sales and other irregularities. He challenged Reddy to an open debate, warning that 'those who looted the institution will soon face the law.' BR Naidu also criticised YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Bhumana for their remarks which he said hurt Hindu sentiments. He further blamed the YSRCP government for financial decisions in 2022 that left TTD paying Rs.140 crore annually in interest. Responding from Tirupati, former chairman Karunakar Reddy accused Naidu of dragging the sacred institution into 'political mudslinging.' Pointing to the Vaikuntha Ekadasi tragedy, in which six devotees lost their lives and over 60 were injured, Reddy alleged that Naidu refused to apologise despite appeals from Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan. 'Instead of accountability, he is showing arrogance,' he charged. The YSRCP leader also alleged irregularities in the functioning of the Sri Venkateswara temple in Delhi during Naidu's leadership, questioned liquor sales in TTD residential colonies, and raised doubts about Naidu's rapid rise in wealth. 'How did a man who once worked in BHEL and ran a garment shop suddenly become a multi-crore businessman and media owner?' he asked, hinting at possible forex violations and ticket rackets. Calling Naidu's 'rowdy-like' remarks, Reddy said no chairman had ever tarnished the sanctity of the deity in such a manner. He demanded a CBI probe into Naidu's allegations against him and former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, declaring, 'If guilty, I am ready for punishment.' With the two leaders trading bitter accusations, devotees worry that political battles are overshadowing the trust's primary duty—serving pilgrims and safeguarding the sanctity of one of the world's most revered temples.
