Ed Sheeran's top parenting tip revolves around breakfast

Ed Sheeran's top parenting tip revolves around breakfast

Before heading into the studio or playing a show, Ed Sheeran 's first gig of the day is making breakfast for his kids.
During an appearance on Thursday's episode of the " Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce" podcast, the musician shared the best piece of fatherhood advice he's ever received.
"Always be the one that makes the breakfast in the morning," Sheeran told podcast host Kylie Kelce. "Always be the one that gets up first, and let your partner have a lie-in. Do the breakfast because that's the time of the day that your kids are the least angry, because they're rested."
The "Bad Habits" singer added that taking on breakfast duty is a triple win: he gets the morning chores done, gives his partner a well-earned break, and gets quality time with the kids when they're at their best.
"They want to help out as well. So, I'm handing them plates and they're putting the plates away, and I'm like, you're making my job easier," Sheeran said.
He added that he also enjoys taking on the "evening shift."
"Reading 40 different stories and having someone fall asleep on your shoulder is actually really lovely," Sheeran said.
Sheeran and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, welcomed their first daughter, Lyra, in 2020, and their second daughter, Jupiter, in 2022.
In a 2021 interview with BBC Radio 1, Sheeran said that becoming a dad led him to change his lifestyle habits. He started going into the studio from 9-to-5 instead of ending his recording sessions in the middle of the night.
"As soon as Cherry told me she was pregnant, life shifted, in terms of work and health and what I was putting into my body, be it food or alcohol," he said.
Like Sheeran, many other celebrities have also opened up about their own parenting tips.
Kate Hudson — who has — previously said that she isn't afraid to apologize to her children whenever she's in the wrong.
"And what you find in going to your kids and saying, 'I could have handled this better' or 'I made a mistake' or 'I'm sorry I didn't trust you' — whatever the scenario — is that connection becomes stronger," Hudson said.
During a June episode of her "IMO" podcast, Michelle Obama said that good parenting involves knowing that kids are "not your friends."
She added it's important for parents to set clear boundaries that they believe in and that they stick to "all the time," since kids are always testing how far they can push before adults cave.
A representative for Sheeran did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by Business Insider outside regular hours.

Kylie Kelce Admits to Sabotaging Jason's Weight Loss Competition

Kylie Kelce Admits to Sabotaging Jason's Weight Loss Competition originally appeared on Men's Fitness. Kylie Kelce may love her husband, but she wasn't exactly rooting for him to win his latest bet. Jason spent three months in a friendly competition to drop fat and build muscle. The stakes were high: The loser had to show up to a charity event in a Speedo and get a Brazilian wax. The charity event, held at Ocean Drive in New Jersey, supported the Eagles Autism Foundation. On the July 2 episode of the New Heightspodcast he co-hosts with his brother Travis Kelce, Jason shared the final results. Allen dropped 2 percent body fat and gained 4 pounds of muscle. Jason lost 3 percent body fat and didn't gain any muscle. Results were measured using a DEXA scan, as he previously admitted to some very low-key sabotage in the form of baked goods. "I also know that I've been feeding him doughnuts and buying baked goods when appropriate," she said. "And was it a little bit of sabotage? No. If it was, Beau Allen, you owe me some money, because you're welcome." When Jason showed up to the event, he fully embraced the moment, going viral after ripping off a pair of American flag shorts to reveal a matching Speedo. Kylie couldn't help but laugh. "I had received a text message of the behind angle and proceeding to Magic Mike his shorts off. I have not seen this move before. I don't know if he practiced. If he did, it was [with doors] closed," she said. Jason, who once played football at around 300 pounds, has been steadily leaning out in retirement—especially with the help of this competition. "Dude, this is what you do… when you retire, you have to do stupid competitions like this to keep your sanity,' he joked to Travis on a previous podcast Kelce Admits to Sabotaging Jason's Weight Loss Competition first appeared on Men's Fitness on Jul 3, 2025 This story was originally reported by Men's Fitness on Jul 3, 2025, where it first appeared. Netflix is quietly searching for an exec to lead its video podcast efforts as it chases YouTube

Netflix is quietly searching for an exec to lead its video podcast efforts. The streamer is chasing YouTube, which has cemented itself as a video podcast titan. Podcast listening and advertising are on the rise, and media giants are investing. Netflix is quietly searching for a podcast leader as it looks to bring video pods onto the streaming platform, two people close to the company told Business Insider. Netflix had previously explored potential deals with podcasters as it sought new areas of growth, as BI first reported. The hunt for an exec to lead a video podcasting effort shows how seriously Netflix is taking the space. The streamer's interest comes as rival YouTube has cemented itself as a living-room fixture and video podcasting powerhouse. Netflix has also shown interest in creator content more broadly. "We're really excited about 'The Sidemen' and 'Pop the Balloon' and a wide variety of creators and video podcasters that might be a good fit for us, and particularly if they're doing great work and looking for different ways to connect with audiences," co-CEO Ted Sarandos said on the company's second-quarter earnings call this month. "The Sidemen" and "Pop the Balloon" are two Netflix shows that began in the creator realm. Netflix has not publicized a podcast lead job opening and declined to comment for this story. One person who had conversations with Netflix said the company wanted someone who could make video-first podcasts for a big audience. Many of today's biggest podcasts started as audio-only endeavors and later added video as audience habits changed and YouTube gained prominence. The lines between video talk shows and podcasts have increasingly blurred, and newer podcasts often now start with video in mind. It's not clear where the podcast role would sit inside Netflix. A second person who had conversations with the company said they believed it would sit in Netflix's TV and film licensing arm under Lori Conkling rather than the original content side. That could signal that Netflix might look to license existing shows, as it's done with some YouTube creators like preschool entertainer Ms. Rachel, as well as make original shows with hosts. Separate content-side hires could follow. Edison Research has charted the continued rise of podcast listening. In a new report out this week, the firm said 73% of people ages 12 and over in the US listen to or watch podcasts, up from 55% in 2020. Video is on the rise, too, with 51% of people 12 and up saying they've watched a podcast, according to Edison. Podcast advertising grew 26.4% to $2.4 billion in 2024, according to the IAB. EMARKETER projects it will top $2.5 billion in 2025. Other media heavyweights have made big moves to chase the podcast-listening audience and the advertising that can come with it. In February, Fox acquired Red Seat Ventures, which produces Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and others. Amazon paid $300 million for podcast company Wondery in 2020, The New York Times reported at the time, after snapping up audiobook company Audible in 2008.

Kylie Kelce lists the kids shows she loves — and the ones she ‘aggressively' banned

Kylie Kelce says she has 'no other way to function' than to be honest. The 33-year-old wife of former NFL player Jason Kelce lived up to that quality during the July 24 episode of her 'Not Gonna Lie' podcast when she presented her 'No Lie Parent's Guide to Kids TV.' And it included a list of kids shows she absolutely loves — and some she 'aggressively' avoids. For example, Kelce revealed that 'Cocomelon' has been banned in her household. 'No, aggressively no,' she said of the show. 'So no that if Cocomelon comes up on any of their screens, my daughters say, 'Oh, we're not allowed to watch that.'' Kelce goes on to describe 'Cocomelon' as a show 'that locks kids in' and added that she questions any other shows that fall into that category. 'I have doubled, tripled, quadrupled down. We are not watching Cocomelon,' she added. She also described 'Blippy' as weird and says she banned 'Teletubbies' because her daughter found it 'creepy.' 'These shows are banned for a multitude of reasons,' she said on her podcast. 'Some of them, I'm pretty sure there are studies that have shown that these shows are not correct.' As for the rest of her list, Kelce broke it down into five other categories: educational shows, those that are re-watchable, shows from her childhood, shows to keep the kids busy and shows that are confusing. Here's a look at her No Lie Parent's Guide to Kids TV: Educational shows with good music: 'Ms. Rachel' and 'Sesame Street'Shows you can watch 100+ times: 'Bluey,' 'Peppa Pig' and 'Zoboomafoo'Shows from her childhood: 'The Big Comfy Couch,' 'Spongebob Squarepants,' 'PB&J Otter' and 'Bear in the Big Blue House' Shows to keep the kids busy: 'T.O.T.S.' and 'Puppy Pals'Shows that have Kelce saying WTF: 'Yo Gabba Gabba!' and 'The Chicken Squad' Kelce says she's especially fond of Ms. Rachel's 'Hop Little Bunnies' song and described 'Sesame Street' as a 'throwback.' 'Big Bird is aging like fine wine,' she said of the classic show. 'Really, I want to know his skin care routine because he doesn't look a day older than when I used to watch him when I was little. It's crazy.' She also likes how short 'Bluey' episodes are and how 'lovely' Peppa Pig is — especially Daddy Pig. As for 'Zoboomafoo,' Kelce says she added it to the list for herself. 'I put it on selfishly. I love that lemur,' she says of Jovian from the 1991-2001 show. 'I love that he looks a little unhinged.' Kelce's comments come less than two weeks after Nielsen announced that 'Bluey' topped its streaming rankings for the first half of 2025 with 25.06 billion minutes of viewing. 'Grey's Anatomy' (22.55 billion), 'NCIS' (19.12 billion), 'Family Guy' (19.07 billion) and 'Bob's Burgers' (17.1 billion) rounded out the top five, according to Nielsen's ratings. Her comments also come one week after TheWrap reported that 'Ms. Rachel' was the seventh-most watched show on Netflix in the first half of 2025 with 53.4 million views. On her podcast, Kelce took an extra moment to praise 'Ms. Rachel' as one of the greats. 'I have said multiple times that we love Ms. Rachel. And Ms. Rachel is great because she sings the songs that you would love,' Kelce said of the show. 'She does legitimate speech pathology tactics and practices within the show. And also my kids love her,' she added. Kelce shares four daughters — Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, Bennett, 2, and Finnley, born in March — with her husband, whom she has been married to since 2018, according to People.
