The Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT has officially set a new benchmark at the Yas Marina Circuit, becoming the fastest production SUV to lap the iconic Formula 1 Grand Prix layout. Piloted by racing driver Ramez Azzam, the high-performance SUV clocked a lap time of 2:14.046 around the 5.281-kilometre track. This lap marks the first time a production SUV record has been formally recognised at the venue, setting a precedent for future time trials under strict motorsport regulations.
The record-setting run took place under a newly introduced, officially sanctioned format, jointly developed by Yas Marina Circuit and the Emirates Motorsport Organisation (EMSO). The official lap record procedure included pre-run scrutineering to ensure showroom specification, a 60-minute practice session, and a 45-minute qualifying window in which the lap time had to be set.

Wind speeds were calm at 1.4 kmph.
Ramez Azzam, who recently won the GT4 class at the Dubai 24 Hours, praised the Cayenne Turbo GT's handling prowess, saying, 'The power and sound of the engine is impressive, but what sets the Cayenne Turbo GT apart is its braking and handling. For a car of this size to remain so composed through corners is remarkable. I could push it hard and still feel completely in control."

Ahmedabad weather today: Rain lashes parts of city despite low chances
Rains lashed parts of Gujarat's Ahmedabad on Tuesday, after the city witnessed partly cloudy skies. Hot and humid conditions persisted throughout the day in the city, with temperatures touching a sweltering 38 degree Celsius and humidity at 42 per cent. This comes after the chances of precipitation dropped down to five per cent, according to private weather agency AccuWeather. The cloud cover in the city remained above 50 per cent. A video released by news agency PTI showed visuals of heavy rain outside the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, the venue for the final match of the Indian Premier League, which is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm. AccuWeather said there was a 66 per cent chance of rain in the city on Tuesday afternoon, with conditions expected to ease by evening. However, amid concerns regarding the weather before the RCB vs PBKS final game of the IPL in Ahmedabad, the chances of precipitation had continued to remain low in the city. The possibility of rain in Ahmedabad is expected to increase up to 9 per cent by night, with a 2 per cent chance of thunderstorms in the city. The PBKS vs MI Qualifier 2 match held on Sunday had also been disrupted by the rain during the initial couple of hours. After the onset of the southwest monsoon on May 24 over Kerala, the its progress across the country stalled, two senior weather officials said according to a Reuters report. However, the rains will increase again starting May 11, covering the rest of the country, the report stated SD Sanap, scientist with the India Meteorological Department's Pune office, as saying. India witnessed its earliest onset in 16 years, with the southwest monsoon arriving eight days before its normal date on June 1, according to the India Meteorological Department. The onset occurred after all the meteorological criteria were satisfied, with the cloud cover over southeast Arabian Sea and its adjoining peninsular areas, increasing a couple of days before May 24. A weather system is likely to develop over the Bay of Bengal around June 11, strengthening and monsoon and also creating favourable conditions for it to cover the northern parts of the country, Reuters quoted a weather department official as saying.

Pascal Wehrlein on second place in Shanghai: 'First time I felt like we were very competitive in the wet'
Image credit: Pascal Wehrlein/Instagram TAG Heuer Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein gained no points on Day 1 of the Shanghai E-Prix last weekend. However, the Formula E driver was able to turn the tables in a rainy race the next day and claim second place on the podium. After the race, he confirmed that the result made him realise they were actually competitive on a wet track. Pascal Wehrlein on winning in Shanghai Pascal Wehrlein secured second place in the Round 11 race in Shanghai, with his teammate Antonio Felix Da Costa joining him on the podium in third. The two had started in the same positions on the grid but in reverse order. It was, nevertheless, a double gain for Porsche on Sunday. Talking about the Round 11 race, Wehrlein said, 'Very tricky conditions especially in the beginning, I think it got a little bit better towards the end, but our pace was good. Not good enough for P1, but quite far ahead of the guys behind. Personally I'm very happy about the result today because today was the first time that I felt like we were very competitive in the wet, which wasn't the case in Tokyo and Monaco. I think we've found a good way there and in the end a happy ending for us. ' The two also scored double podiums at the Mexico E-Prix and then again in Miami, where Wehrlein won. He earned another podium at the Tokyo E-Prix. With such a strong performance this year, Wehrlein currently holds second place in the Formula E Driver Standings with 103 points. TAG Heuer Porsche gained big in Shanghai 'It was a very strong result today in very tricky and challenging wet conditions,' Porsche Formula E boss Florian Modlinger stated after the double podium in Round 11. The 34 points earned from the results, plus the fastest lap by Wehrlein, also promoted Porsche to the top of the Teams' World Championship—by a single point ahead of Nissan. 'We are really happy with these points and regaining the lead in the Teams' Championship by a single point. It will be a very hard fight to the end of the year. Overall – with three Porsche in the top six with Nico Mueller – we can be very happy,' Modlinger added.
