Hit bakery selling viral 24-layer chocolate cake announces 'game changer' that's got people in a frenzy

Yahoo26-05-2025

A hit bakery which has gone viral for its 24-layer chocolate cake which costs £20 a slice has made a 'huge' announcement about its future - describing it as their 'biggest change' yet.
Get Baked opened its first brick and mortar store in Manchester's Stevenson Square earlier this year, leading to huge queues as people camped out to get a slice of their viral cakes and bakes.
Starting life in Leeds in 2011, the bakery - led by Rich Myers - has become a baking sensation for its Bertha cake (inspired by the infamous Bruce Bogtrotter cake in Matilda), as well as its cookies, pies, and cakes.

Now, just two months after opening up in the Northern Quarter, Rich and the team has announced their Get Baked is set to expand on its offerings thanks to a popular Yorkshire deli shop - and fans have been unable to contain their excitement.
It has been revealed that all Get Baked stores will soon begin serving sandwiches and deli goods from Silver's Delicattessan. Located in Bramley, Leeds, the sandwich shop first opened in November 2023 by owner Chris Riley-Smith and has found similar fame to the bakery with its homemade breakfast sandwiches and crammed hoagies.
With combinations including salt beef brisket with pickles, swiss cheese and mustard, as well as a popular chicken and bacon sandwich featuring overnight-roasted chicken and homemade aioli, the shop has also been nominated at the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year Awards.
Posting about the partnership, Get Baked wrote on Instagram: 'Silver's is joining the GET BAKED family. This marks the biggest change to both brands since their conception - one which will provide endless joy for all involved, both staff and customers alike.
'Silver's will become the in-store sandwich and deli offerings at all GET BAKED locations, including future openings. I cannot do what Silver's does, better than Silver's can, and I don't want to even try.
'Yesterday, their Hot Honey Chicken sandwich nearly ended my life - joy to that degree can be dangerous, and I very nearly perished because of it. This is going to be a lot of fun, and it's going to make a lot of people incredibly happy, which, ultimately, is why we do it.'
As expected, the news went down an immediate fan with fans of both stores. One person boldly proclaimed: 'This is the Yorkshire equivalent of a royal wedding.' Another said: 'This is good Manchester news.'

Another person wrote: 'This is a game changer.' One other said: 'Huge!!! Congrats.' Another praised the two for joining forces by posting: 'When businesses know other businesses' worth and use to further each other, it can only be hugely applauded.'
It has not yet been announced when the partnership will come into force, with Get Baked simply telling fans to 'stay tuned' and to 'please ensure that you prepare yourselves accordingly' in the meantime.

Jeremy Clarkson sells new Clarkson's Farm Lamborghini tractor for more than £70,000

Jeremy Clarkson has sold his new Clarkson's Farm Lamborghini tractor for more than £70,000 after buying it for £85,000, according to auction house Cheffins. The green tractor was put up for sale under the agricultural tractors section in the Machinery and Vintage Auctions catalog for the auction house. There were 62 bids for the farming machine before it was sold to the highest bidder for £70,500 on Monday. Clarkson was pictured carrying papers at the auction in Sutton, near Ely, in Cambridgeshire. He was supported by his Clarkson's Farm co-star Cooper. Clarkson showed off his tractor on Clarkson's Farm series four after buying it second hand in scenes filmed in 2024. He invested in the farming machinery before buying his pub, The Farmer's Dog, which opened over the last August Bank Holiday weekend. On Clarkson's Farm series four, the presenter revealed that he had bought the Lamborghini tractor because the "silver one kept breaking down". But the new one broke down too, despite being "bigger" and "more powerful" as seen in a dramatic sequence on the Prime Video series. Viewers saw the new tractor for the first time in episode four — titled Cottaging — where the presenter was delighted to share his purchase with Diddly Squat Farm Manager Kaleb Cooper. He told him: "Aaahh. Check it out. It's a Lamborghini again!" Any Clarkson's Farm fan knows how much car-mad Clarkson loves his Lamborghini tractors. When Cooper wasn't convinced by the purchase, the TV personality said he was going to "hit him with some numbers". The Lamborghini tractor had 7.8 litres and 340 horsepower. Clarkson joked he was so high up in the tractor he could "eyeball" people working in the International Space Station. He followed it up with: "All those tractors I looked at the other day — those medium sized tractors, they were all around 120/180 [thousand pounds] kinda on the farm. 85! £85,000... Yorkshire haggling." Eventually Clarkson won Cooper over and the farm manager declared it was a "bargain". After climbing inside the tractor, Cooper claimed that the GPS in the tractor was "worth £10,000 on its own". Initially the ex-Top Gear star encountered some problems with the tractor because the controls were "more complicated" than his Lamborghini machine. Later, the tractor breaks down leading to a difficult conversation between Clarkson and his financial advisor Charlie Ireland. Ireland told him he had paid "far too much" for the machinery. "What?!" Clarkson exclaimed. "Come on, it looks fantastic." He made the further plea in front of the cameras: "Please allow me to have the tractor I like, please." Ireland shrugged his shoulders, saying he had no choice as Clarkson had already bought the tractor without speaking to him. The tractor then was out of action until the mechanic could fix it. Watch Clarkson's Farm series 4 trailer It's no secret that Clarkson has always loved Lamborghini tractors. He explained in The Times in 2020: "I could have bought a Fendt. Everyone says they're the best. Or I could have bought a Fastrac, because I'm friends with the JCB family. But obviously I wanted a Lamborghini. So that's what I've got. An R8 270 DCR, to be precise." He added: "Lamborghini was a tractor-maker long before it made cars, but the business was sold — along with the rights to the name — in 1973. Today they're made in Germany but they still look Lambo-mad." Yahoo UK has reached out to Jeremy Clarkson's representatives and auction house Cheffins for further comment. The final episodes of Clarkson's Farm series four are available to stream on Prime Video now.

Emmerdale could 'move' to Manchester as ex ITV boss warns of major budget cuts

An ex-ITV boss has warned that soaps Emmerdale and Coronation Street could face major changes amid budget cuts. Peter Fincham was the former Director of Television at ITV before Kevin Lygo took over. Fincham has suggested that, due to budget concerns at ITV, Emmerdale could move filming away from Yorkshire and merge production with Coronation Street in Manchester. The ex-ITV boss has predicted that following the recent announcement of daytime changes at the broadcaster, it's likely executives are looking at similar measures for the two soaps. It's the question on everyone's minds... Is Robert back for good? Read more here: — Emmerdale (@emmerdale) June 9, 2025 Discussing the soaps on The TV Podcast, Fincham said: "You've got Coronation Street being made in Manchester, Emmerdale in Leeds. 'Could you imagine, rather like the daytime consolidation, that ITV will decide to have them both made in the same place under one umbrella? Big savings. 'You still keep Emmerdale set in Yorkshire, but it could be made in Manchester and Salford, which is a bigger hub for ITV. 'I don't think that's inconceivable — it might be being planned as we speak." Emmerdale is currently made in north Leeds, while Coronation Street is mostly filmed in MediaCity in Salford. As the ex-ITV boss adds: "The new hub for Coronation Street in Salford, it cost many, many millions of pounds and it was better facilities for all the people who worked on it in the old place in the middle of Manchester." ITV has been approached for a comment.
