Popular bakery teases launch of CALPOL Cookies and people can't wait to try them

A cookie brand has teased the launch of a Calpol flavoured biscuit - to the delight of many fans. Leeds-based premium cake company Get Baked announced its latest sweet treat - 'Caplol Cookies' - on its Instagram page this week, sending those nostalgic for the childhood medicine into a spin. Set to be available from mid-June, the 'vanilla cookies with strawberry glaze' will be sold in a box that uses the pinks and purples of Calpol's packaging and incorporates the brand's distinctive logo. The Instagram account, run by Get Baked founder and master baker Rich Myers, posted a 'mock up' of the box along with a picture of a large, round cookie finished with pink icing two days ago. Since social media users taking the opportunity to reminisce about their childhood when they would 'steal the bottle of Calpol from the cupboard'. Others, perhaps getting ahead of themselves, offered ideas for other medicine-inspired sweet treats, with one person writing: 'Banana antibiotics next please'. In the caption to his post, Rich, who launched Get Baked back in 2011, joked: 'Pardon the pun, but I genuinely think these might end up being the most viral product we've ever launched'. He added that it was '100 per cent real' after fans asked if it was a viral hoax. Clearly expecting people to think the Calpol-inspired cookies were nothing more than a spoof, he acknowledged fans' doubts, writing: 'I think lots of people thought the Calpol Cookie wasn't a real thing - but it's a real thing.' Rich, whose brand is best known for its towering, multilayered 'Bertha' cakes, provided some more context: 'We're still testing them - the first time we made them, they were overpowering, so we toned it down, but then we toned it down a bit too much, and there wasn't that f****** wallop of delicious Calpol flavour that I was going for.' The picture of the box, he added, is a 'mock up of the sleeve' and a 'carbon copy of the real packaging.' And, for those who were wondering if the company was sailing too close to the wind with its new product, he explained: 'You'll notice we've gone with Caplol instead of Calpol. 'Thought it was fun to have LOL [laugh out loud] in the title, it doesn't really have anything to do with not getting sued.' To celebrate the launch of the Caplol Cookies, Rich offered one person the chance to win a box of six. Having told fans to 'tag a mate' to be in with a chance of winning, the post amassed more than 6,000 comments, with people struggling to contain their excitement. One person wrote: 'I don't know how you feel about Calpol but this is the best thing I've ever seen'. Another shared an experience that many will be able to relate to: 'I used to steal the bottle of Calpol from the cupboard as a child!!' Someone else appeared to have tagged their sibling, adding: 'Tagging you for all the times you drank my child's Calpol because you "liked the flavour".' A fourth person seemed happy with the new product, writing: 'Calpol for the kids, Caplol for us'. Some frustrated parents also appeared grateful for the new product, explaining: 'If we give baby girl these she might begin to realise how delicious Calpol is and stop fighting us on it'. A sixth Instagram user alluded to the addictive quality of Calpol medicine, adding: 'These will be like crack'. While a seventh person had a suggestion to enhance the product: 'These need a syringe of strawberry glaze in the box too'.

Hit bakery selling viral 24-layer chocolate cake announces 'game changer' that's got people in a frenzy

A hit bakery which has gone viral for its 24-layer chocolate cake which costs £20 a slice has made a 'huge' announcement about its future - describing it as their 'biggest change' yet. Get Baked opened its first brick and mortar store in Manchester's Stevenson Square earlier this year, leading to huge queues as people camped out to get a slice of their viral cakes and bakes. Starting life in Leeds in 2011, the bakery - led by Rich Myers - has become a baking sensation for its Bertha cake (inspired by the infamous Bruce Bogtrotter cake in Matilda), as well as its cookies, pies, and cakes. It has been revealed that all Get Baked stores will soon begin serving sandwiches and deli goods from Silver's Delicattessan. Located in Bramley, Leeds, the sandwich shop first opened in November 2023 by owner Chris Riley-Smith and has found similar fame to the bakery with its homemade breakfast sandwiches and crammed hoagies. With combinations including salt beef brisket with pickles, swiss cheese and mustard, as well as a popular chicken and bacon sandwich featuring overnight-roasted chicken and homemade aioli, the shop has also been nominated at the Uber Eats Restaurant of the Year Awards. Posting about the partnership, Get Baked wrote on Instagram: 'Silver's is joining the GET BAKED family. This marks the biggest change to both brands since their conception - one which will provide endless joy for all involved, both staff and customers alike. 'Silver's will become the in-store sandwich and deli offerings at all GET BAKED locations, including future openings. I cannot do what Silver's does, better than Silver's can, and I don't want to even try. 'Yesterday, their Hot Honey Chicken sandwich nearly ended my life - joy to that degree can be dangerous, and I very nearly perished because of it. This is going to be a lot of fun, and it's going to make a lot of people incredibly happy, which, ultimately, is why we do it.' As expected, the news went down an immediate fan with fans of both stores. One person boldly proclaimed: 'This is the Yorkshire equivalent of a royal wedding.' Another said: 'This is good Manchester news.' Join our Manc Life WhatsApp group HERE Another person wrote: 'This is a game changer.' One other said: 'Huge!!! Congrats.' Another praised the two for joining forces by posting: 'When businesses know other businesses' worth and use to further each other, it can only be hugely applauded.' It has not yet been announced when the partnership will come into force, with Get Baked simply telling fans to 'stay tuned' and to 'please ensure that you prepare yourselves accordingly' in the meantime.

Zefiro Methane Corp. Subsidiary Secures Additional Plugging Contracts from State Government of Ohio

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 02, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ZEFIRO METHANE CORP. (Cboe Canada: ZEFI) (Frankfurt: Y6B) (OTCQB: ZEFIF) (the 'Company', 'Zefiro', or 'ZEFI') today announced that its subsidiary Plants & Goodwin, Inc. ('P&G') recently secured a collection of new contracts from the state government of Ohio. Specifically, these contracts include ten wells located in Ashtabula County and are under the purview of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources ('ODNR'). This past January, ODNR also awarded P&G eight state-funded well remediation projects consisting of 50 oil and gas wells, of which 28 have already been plugged. In addition to these newly awarded, publicly-funded projects, P&G recently secured environmental remediation contracts in Pennsylvania with two private-sector clients, one of which is a brand-new account for P&G. These efforts will consist of P&G's expert environmental remediation crews plugging 15 oil and gas wells in the commonwealth. These projects are the latest in a series of notable oil and gas well plugging contracts that the Zefiro family of companies has earned. Last month, Zefiro announced that P&G completed a package of commonwealth of Pennsylvania-funded oil and gas well remediation projects (18 wells in total) in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, including one site that was releasing toxins into a resident's water supply and cost nearly $500,000 to plug. Pictured: A P&G crew member on a Pennsylvania job site in July of 2024. Zefiro continues to carry out remediation work across the Appalachian region, where there are countless unplugged oil/gas wells potentially emitting methane. Zefiro Founder and CEO Talal Debs commented, 'Now more than ever, the demand for Zefiro's industry-leading environmental remediation services is increasing in key markets across the United States. As our expert crews prepare for what is traditionally the busiest season for oil and gas well plugging operations, we have deepened our relationship with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and expanded our client base across Appalachia. Our continued commercial growth will help more communities protect their critical air, drinking water, and land resources, and by taking on new projects throughout the country, we can continue providing innovative, market-based solutions to help our public and private sector partners confront one of America's most pressing public health issues.'
