Cops found 40L from victim's son in Bikaner, occultist still missing
Jaipur: In a new twist to a case that has spiralled into a complex web of greed and deception, Bikaner police Sunday night recovered Rs 40 lakh allegedly looted by a self-styled occultist who drugged four persons, causing the deaths of three of them, from the son of one of the victims.
The cash was discovered in the trunk of a car belonging to Salman, son of deceased Ghaffar Khan. While the occultist remains missing, Salman has now come under police scrutiny.
The incident, which initially appeared to be a case of occult fraud gone wrong, was an ostensible ritual meant to double Rs 50 lakh, conducted at Ghaffar's residence in Khajuwala. Present at the gathering were occultist B Shiva, Ajmer-based Shaitan Singh and Vikram Singh, Manoj Verma from Jharkhand, Ramswaroop from Jodhpur, Rajendra Poonia—a medical store owner from Khajuwala—Ghaffar, and his son Salman.
According to police, the occultist prepared an offering laced with a toxic substance and served it to all attendees. Ghaffar, Shaitan Singh, and Vikram Singh died, while the others fell ill. Salman survived after vomiting. When Shiva's second attempt to poison him using lemonade failed, Salman reportedly alerted his family.
"Of the Rs 50 lakh, we recovered Rs 40 lakh. The money was first stashed at a relative's place before being moved to the vehicle," an officer said.

Police suspect that the remaining Rs 10 lakh may have been hidden elsewhere.
Police believe the occultist planned to keep the money by poisoning all attendees, including his accomplices. However, his plan was disrupted when Salman survived and called his family, shifting the greed narrative towards the victim's side. "It is too early to say anything, but there are many contradictions that appeared in what Salman initially told us. We don't even know if there is indeed a person out there by the name of B Shiva or not," said the officer.

Gangster, injured in shootout, also sold drugs to fund weapons
1 2 3 Mohali: Sandeep Kumar , the gangster arrested following a shootout with the Mohali Police's Crime Investigating Agency (CIA) near the administrative complex on June 15, was also a drug dealer who used drug proceeds to fund his cache of weapons, police revealed on Sunday. Sandeep, who was injured in the leg during the encounter and is currently under medical observation, is also wanted by the Himachal Pradesh police under the NDPS Act for drug trafficking . According to officials, he came near the encounter spot to deliver a drug consignment when he opened fire at the police team that had laid a trap based on intelligence inputs. Mohali SSP Harmandeep Singh Hans said, "Sandeep Kumar is a hardened criminal. Apart from multiple murder and attempted murder cases, he is also involved in the drug trade. We have reason to believe that he used drug money to purchase firearms for gang activities. He is also wanted in Himachal Pradesh." The SSP confirmed that one of Sandeep's aides, Babloo, who was arrested from Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, five days ago, had already confessed to their role in the murder of 21-year-old Hemant Kumar in Sector 91 on May 26. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "Babloo was riding the motorcycle while Sandeep fired the shots. He has also made important disclosures about the gang's modus operandi, including the use of shared and hidden weapons," Hans added. Police sources said the .315 bore weapon used in the Sector 91 murder is yet to be recovered. "Babloo claimed that Sandeep had the murder weapon, but it was not found at the encounter site. We suspect they rotated weapons within the gang and concealed them post each crime," sources added. Police are now planning a face-to-face interrogation of Sandeep and Babloo once the former is fit for questioning. Police believe the interrogation will lead them to the gang's weapon hideouts and possibly to other accomplices involved in narcotics and violent crimes across Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. ‘Cybercrimes threat to nation's economy': Court denies bail to farmer who provided mule accounts
Mumbai: Noting the serious nature of cybercrimes and their potential to undermine the nation's economy, a sessions court denied bail to a Bikaner farmer who allegedly arranged for bank accounts to park Rs 7.2 lakh conned out of a naval staffer threatened with digital arrest last year. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The court said if released on bail, the accused, Ugraram Godara, might commit similar offences. "The advocate for the accused vehemently argued that he received only Rs 22,500 [as commission]. More than the amount, the modus operandi holds weightage," the judge said. "He (Godara) took a day's commission [from each transaction] and handed over that amount to the key accused. This is a very serious cybercrime." Godara was arrested by Mumbai police on April 8. The complainant said he received a call from a person who claimed to be a representative of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India on Dec 24, 2024, and was told that his bank account was used to launder illicit funds abroad in a case linked to a politician. The Navy staffer said he then received a video call from a person posing as a Delhi police officer, who cited a pending arrest warrant and threatened to place him under digital arrest. The impersonator said the warrant could be cancelled if he transferred certain sums of money to specific bank accounts. The complainant complied and eventually transferred Rs 7.2 lakh in all. The prosecution alleged Godara provided mule bank accounts for commissions. As per the alleged modus operandi, another fraudster would contact targets and direct them to transfer money into these accounts. It was claimed Godara's driver, Shyamsunder Rahar, withdrew money from different ATMs, took his cut and handed the rest to him. The prosecution said Godara has been named in other cybercrime cases too. Godara's advocate said he was arrested merely on suspicion, adding that he has a young daughter, his wife has died, and his elderly father is dependent on him.
