Savannah

While watching her brother play at the Thomas & Mack Centre in Las Vegas, the 10-year-old wore Adidas Samba trainers. The cultural significance of the shoes attracted attention. This is because, even though Zhuri wore Adidas, her father has a $1 billion lifetime contract with Nike.
Meanwhile, the LA Lakers, led by
Bronny James

IND vs ENG: 'Sai Sudharsan must own No.3 spot' - R Ashwin gives blunt verdict on Karun Nair's batting position

Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan NEW DELHI: Veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has weighed in on India's top-order batting conundrum, questioning the team management's decision to push Karun Nair to No. 3 in the second and third Tests of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. According to Ashwin, the move was a tactical misstep that disrupted the mindset of a player who has not batted in that position before. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'Karun Nair has never played at No. 3. Now, by playing him at No. 3, you have put his mindset in a block,' Ashwin said on his YouTube channel. After batting at No. 6 in the opening Test at Headingley, Nair was promoted to No. 3 in Birmingham and Lord's but failed to make an impact, leading to his exclusion for the fourth Test at Old Trafford. Rishabh Pant suffers right foot injury in India vs England Test; taken off in an ambulance Ashwin instead heaped praise on Sai Sudharsan, who replaced Nair and made a composed 61 off 151 balls on Day 1 of the Manchester Test. 'Credit to Sai Sudharsan, because it is not easy being a youngster after getting dropped and with India 1-2 behind in the series to come into the fourth Test and respond the way he did. I think he has to own that No. 3 for the near future to be able to give a bit of solidity for the team,' Ashwin said. Poll Was promoting Karun Nair to No. 3 a tactical misstep by the team management? Yes, it disrupted his mindset. No, it was a strategic decision. Comparing Sudharsan to stalwarts like Rahul Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara, Ashwin said, 'He showed that sort of solidity. He was able to leave the ball. He earned the right to score those runs. I am a bit upset because I am a huge well-wisher of him. He could have scored a hundred.' India ended Day 1 at 264/4, with Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur unbeaten. Ashwin also pointed out a technical flaw in Sudharsan's game, suggesting England missed a trick. 'One thing that will give him trouble early on is the ball coming back in from over the stumps. Shardul Thakur dismissed him in that fashion in a Ranji Trophy final.' 'He was in a lot of pain': Sai Sudharsan admits Rishabh Pant's absence could hurt India Ashwin concluded by underlining the mental strength Sudharsan showed. 'What a fine, fine knock for somebody playing in his second Test. He was technically equipped and mentally strong. There was no need to drop him earlier.' Under pressure, AIU removes joint secretary, forms inquiry panel

Representational Image New Delhi: Facing backlash over mismanagement and administrative irregularities at the ongoing FISU World University Games in Germany, resulting in some of the athletes missing out on participation, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) – under pressure from the sports ministry to crack the whip on erring officials – on Wednesday removed its joint secretary Baljit Singh Sekhon from his post and constituted a four-member inquiry committee to probe the procedural lapses in registration. The development came a day after TOI reported citing sources that the ministry was considering disbanding the AIU, along with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), over alleged malpractices and irregularities in their functioning and replacing them with two new national federations. Six Indian badminton players were barred from the WUG in Rhine-Ruhr after officials failed to submit their names correctly during the managers' meeting on July 16. Similarly, India couldn't field an entry in the women's 10,000m and 400m as long-distance runner Seema along with two others and sprinter Devyaniba Zala's names went missing from the start list due to an official error. It is also ordered that for the duration this order remains in effect, the headquarters of Dr Sekhon shall be the AIU Office, New Delhi. He must obtain prior permission before leaving headquarters/station.' In a separate letter issued by Nazneen, she informed about the formation of an investigative panel. 'The committee shall examine all relevant records related to the registration and management of Indian contingent at the WUG and determine the facts concerning the non-inclusion of selected athletes, the exclusion of designated coaches and the penalties imposed by the event organisers,' the order stated. Poll Will Rishabh Pant's injury affect India's performance in the fourth Test? Yes, significantly Yes, but not too much No, it won't matter The day begins under dark clouds, bringing a 10–30% chance of rain in the morning session. However, conditions are expected to improve later in the day with clearer skies and only a 10% chance of showers, offering much-needed stability after bad light halted play early on Day 1. On Day 1, India's top order provided a bright start. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (58) and KL Rahul (46) took the team to 94 before England struck through Chris Woakes, Liam Dawson, and Ben Stokes, who led from the front with 2/47 from 14 overs. India, trailing 1-2 in the five-match series, must break their own drought at Old Trafford, where they've never won a Test. But Pant's injury, sustained while reverse-sweeping a yorker from Woakes, could prove pivotal. Sai Sudharsan, who top-scored with 61, said Pant was 'in a lot of pain' and scans would reveal the severity overnight. With Jadeja (19*) and Thakur (19*) at the crease and the second new ball due, India's ability to build a strong first-innings total may hinge on how weather and pitch conditions evolve — and whether Pant returns to resume his innings.
