Demi Moore showcases age-defying figure after detailing how she 'tortured' her body at the height of her fame

Daily Mail24-04-2025

Demi Moore looked as youthful as ever when she was seen emerging in New York City on Wednesday.
The 62-year-old star of The Substance — who said it 'would be nice' to have another shot at an Oscar at the Time100 summit the same day — looked chic and vivacious in a gray sport coat and matching dress as she was mobbed by excited fans in Manhattan.
She was out with her adorable Chihuahua Pilaf just a day after People declared her its Most Beautiful Person with the cover of its annual issue.
In her cover story, Demi admitted that, when she was at the height of her fame and box-office profitability, she would 'torture' herself with extreme diet's and back-breaking workouts in hopes of maintaining her perfect, svelte figure.
Although she had outgrown much of that unhealthy obsession with her appearance, the ex-wife of Bruce Willis still looked stunning and vital.
She cut a chic figure in her monochrome ensemble, which featured a classic three-button design with the top button rolled under her lapel.
She wore the jacket over a long gray dress that reached down to her ankles but featured a high slit to showcase her fit legs.
She added a burst of color to the look with the lining of her skirt, which featured red, white and blue stripes, and she added a cool touch with red-tinted sunglasses.
Demi wore her long raven locks styled pin straight and parted down the middle, and she added a sweet touch with her minuscule dog Pilaf, who panted with his tiny tongue out while cradled like a baby in a black sling around the actress' torso.
She completed her ensemble with pointy-toed black pumps and an Apple Watch with a gray band to match her outfit.
At the Time100 summit, Demi had removed her jacket to reveal a striking sleeveless dress, as well as an unusual sash draped from one shoulder that featured the lapels and collar of a suit jacket for an intriguing touch.
While speaking to People for it's May 5 issue, Demi admitted that she did 'crazy things [with] diet and exercise' to maintain her slim frame when she was starring in films in the mid-1990s. She added that she would go 'biking from Malibu and going all the way to Paramount,' a ride that she recalled being 'about 26 miles' in total.
'All because I had placed so much value on what my outsides looked like,' she mused.
But today she has a healthier focus on her 'overall health and well-being,' rather than on superficial appearances.
'It's much more about longevity and quality of life. And I think I've evolved into greater gentility towards myself,' she said.
At the height of her career, Demi had to go through wild exercise and diet swings for her projects.
After having to show off her most chiseled look in 1996's Striptease, in which she played a fired FBI secretary who turns to stripping to make ends meet, she then had to reverse course and bulk up to play a woman undergoing special operations training in Ridley Scott's G.I. Jane.
Demi said the training regimen she went through for the latter film made her feel 'so harsh' and 'antagonistic' toward her body.
' I was really just punishing myself,' she admitted. 'And in this desire to dominate it versus now, I have a much more kind of intuitive, relaxed, trusting relationship with my body.'
After production ended on G.I. Jane, the actress had an epiphany.
Though she was 'bigger' and more 'muscular' than ever before after months of intense exercise, she didn't want to 'wear that' body any more, even though she had had an 'incredible experience' making the film.'
Instead, she realized, 'I wanted to just have that within me. And I think I was exhausted from putting [my body] through so much over such a long period of time.'
From then on she 'really let go,' and stopped obsession over what she ate.
Demi said she 'had a moment of surrender where I just let go and really understood what it meant to be in acceptance of my body as it is, even though it's not the body I wanted.'
The Disclosure actress wasn't even sure what her 'natural size' was at that point, as so much had changed with three rapid-fire pregnancies and her intense diets and workouts.
'So I just let go,' she said.

Harry Potter star sparks social media outrage with JK Rowling remark

British star Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film franchise, was asked his opinion on JK Rowling and her contentious online anti trans views Actor Tom Felton provoked social media commotion after weighing in on JK Rowling 's political views. The Harry Potter author's regular transphobic rants on X have split fans of the film franchise and enraged the LGBTQ+ community. Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have both distanced themselves from JK following her numerous outbursts, but not everyone has turned their back. The underfire writer, birth name Joanne Rowling, implied last year that she will "never forgive" the film's stars for speaking out in support of trans people. But now 37-year-old Brit Tom, who played Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter, has broken ranks to refused to criticise the woman who launched his career. ‌ When asked if asked if the controversy around the author's views on gender identity affected him, the star replied: "I'm not really that attuned to it, I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter - she's responsible for that, so I'm incredibly grateful," when asked his views by Variety at the Tony Awards. 'The only thing I always remind myself is that I've been lucky enough to travel the world, here I am in New York. I have not seen anything bring the world together more than Potter." ‌ His comments sparked a mixed response online. One person reposted the publications interview, writing: "This is what privilege looks like, and we shouldn't ignore how much harm looking the other way because things don't affect us directly does. don't be Tom Felton." Another said: "I mean, you should distance yourself from Rowling. Her Harry Potter profits go to anti-transgender organizations." A third made clear their views, writing: "What would a privileged straight white cis-male know about the oppression faced by my trans colleagues?" Others had a different take. "Thank goodness someone in that franchise learned not to bite the hand that feeds him," someone wrote in support of the writer, while another took to X to say: "Who would have thought Draco would be the most level-headed." Back in 2020, when JK first went public with her gender critical views, both Daniel and Emma issued statements of support for the trans community and have reiterated their positions several times since. "Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo [Rowling] or I," Daniel wrote in response to Rowling's tweet in June 2020. Actors who have starred in JK Rowling adaptations have signed an open letter standing "in solidarity" with members of the LGBT+ community "impacted" by the recent Supreme Court ruling on gender. Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne, who led the Fantastic Beasts films, and Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang in the Harry Potter film series, are among the stars who have signed the open letter addressed to film and TV industry bodies, encouraging them to support the trans community. Ghosts actress Charlotte Ritchie, who appeared as a student in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, and Breeders star Daisy Haggard, who voiced the Ministry Of Magic lift in the Harry Potter films, also signed the letter. Another signatory was Bridgerton actress Bessie Carter, the daughter of Dame Imelda Staunton, who played Dolores Umbridge in the popular films about witchcraft and wizardry.

Demi Moore told 'this is not ok' as she divides fans after rescuing ducklings

Oscar nominated actress Demi Moore was slammed by some fans for how she interacted with the three baby ducks she rescued, amid concern for the welfare of the animals Actress Demi Moore has divided fans after revealing she has rescued three baby ducks. The 62-year-old animal lover, who is said to have nine pet dogs, took to Instagram to share a cute snap with the ducklings. Tucking the baby mallards into her jacket, a smiling Demi shared they had already made friends with her Chihuahua Pilaf, who she often shares photos of. Her daughters and granddaughter were also spotted getting to know the ducklings in a series of pics posted to her social media account. ‌ The Substance star captioned the post: "Duck, duck… Pilaf! We rescued three orphaned baby mallard ducklings! With the help and guidance of my local vet we are working to nurture them until they are old enough to be reintroduced to their natural habitat. It has been a messy joy, but Pilaf is loving her new friends." ‌ Though some of her celebrity followers like Paris Hilton and Jennifer Garner commented with heart emojis and Tom Hanks wife Rita Wilson wrote "Oh my goodness! How sweet is this?" - not everybody agreed with it. READ MORE: Demi Moore and Bruce Willis' daughter Rumer, 36, defends taking baths with her sisters One follower wrote: "This is not ok. Wild mallards should be rehabbed by wildlife rehabber. Her vet should have known that. Sorry.. cute but imprinted…" Agreeing, another replied: "Correct. Handling these ducks is not a good rehab practice. They should NEVER be subjected to all that handling." A third person commented: "Yeah this is messed up, these ducks need to go to a wildlife rehab." A fourth said: "Just because a celebrity thinks its cute doesn't make it right." While a fifth asked: "What happened to mom! If they imprint to you - there is no way you should release them. That will work against them in the wild as they follow humans around. Talk to a wildlife rehab facility." But others leapt to Demi's defence, with one writing: "Those ducks will most likely live because of her. And all you can do is b***h and complain. Get a life and follow someone else." Another chimed in: "What if a rehab person is actually filming this before taking them away….what if this is being filmed at rehab facility….what if….. I would give a person benefit of doubt before criticizing [sic] or attacking them. Three little ducklings following a person. That is all that you can say with certainty." ‌ The Mirror has reached out to Demi's reps for further comment on this story. Demi is known for her love of animals and is often spotted with what seems to be her favourite dog Pilaf. The pint-sized pooch - said to be a similar size to a guinea pig - even accompanied her famous owner to a recent awards ceremony. ‌ Pilaf was seen walking the red carpet with Demi at the Film Independent Spirit Awards back in February. Movie star Demi has joked Pilaf's fame is now so big it's eclipsed her own. She said: "The truth is, I am her accessory." She has also appeared on Jimmy Fallon's chat show with Demi. Introducing Pilaf to the audience, Demi shared: "This is Pilaf, the little mouse. She is a pound and a half. She's the runt of her litter. She's a magical creature." Jimmy replied: "She is. I met her backstage and her tongue permanently hangs out." Demi replied: "It does. She lost the teeth that hold it in, but it's part of her charm. Demi admitted she also sleeps with her dogs - and that might be why she's currently single. She shared: "If anybody saw my nighttime routine, if it was filmed, they would really see how eccentric I am. "I have to prop pillows so the ones that are this size have the ability to get under the covers. I have two beds for the little ones so that they have the beds within the bed. Hence why I'm single!"
