If Celtic fail to beat Aberdeen at Pittodrie today the curtain will go up on chaos.
Celtic The Musical is scheduled to begin in a Glasgow theatre next month. Celtic The Pantomime will open immediately if points are dropped this afternoon.
It will signal an inauspicious start to a sequence of games that includes two Champions League qualifiers and an Old Firm derby at Ibrox before the end of August.
Oh, yes it will.
No guarantees can be given about the outcome against the Dons, in Europe or against the team across the road on the other side of the city.
Through no fault of manager Brendan Rodgers, Celtic are a blunt instrument. No cutting edge.
The sleepwalking during the close-season transfer window, which prompted Rodgers to suggest last weekend he's had enough of banging his head against a brick wall at Celtic Park, has now turned into full-blown narcolepsy.
The fans' banner that berated Rodgers when he left for Leicester City in 2019, accused him of trading 'immortality for mediocrity'.
The situation the manager finds himself in now, unable to get his employers to realise the critical need for new players of quality, is that he is, ironically, trying to win immortality while being hampered by mediocrity.
Is Celtic's hierarchy seriously waiting to see if a blunt instrument can make it to the group stages of the Champions League to justify spending cash they have in abundance?
If you can't handle prosperity in a proper manner, what chance will you have if austerity lands at your doorstep?
Things don't happen for a reason in football. It's all about the choices you make.
Rodgers' position today, against the side who beat Celts to win the Scottish Cup, seems to me to smack of wanton neglect on the part of those he's asking to provide him with greater playing resources.
In 2025, Celtic have lost Kyogo, Nicolas Kuhn, Matt O'Riley and Greg Taylor.
Not so much a case of gone but not forgotten, as gone but not replaced in case that costs money. And that's a lot of charisma and capability needing to be replaced.
Meanwhile, against Aberdeen today, the manager might very well have to pass off Adam Idah and Yang up front as alleged replacements for those who have gone before.
Jimmy Thelin's side were firmly put in their place by Hearts at Tynecastle last Monday night. But Celtic don't possess the attacking intent that Derek McInnes has at his disposal in the Capital.
Celtic fans were forced to watch the leaden-footed Idah and hopelessly-miscast Yang contribute nothing against St Mirren last Sunday.
Tens of millions of pounds in the bank and Rodgers was forced to rely on 34-year-old James Forrest and apprentice Johnny Kenny to replace them in an attempt to save the day.
And when a goal finally arrived, Celtic then took the ball to the corner flag in time added-on in an attempt to get themselves over the line.
At home. Against St Mirren. On the day the league flag was unfurled.
A lot of the crowd missed the moment. They'd already left the ground disillusioned by what they were watching.
If this was the real world and those in charge of a stock exchange-listed company risked millions through commercial inactivity in the market, the shareholders would be entitled to question the way the business they backed was being run.
If Celtic don't get the finger out and sign players before the deadline passes on Tuesday for the play-off round of the Champions League that will be the risk strategy the shareholders, and the rank-and-file fans, will be looking at with absolute dismay.
Or they could always adopt the stock market philosophy that shares can rise as well as fall, of course.
Will they? Oh, no they won't.

It is emotional.' Ferry claimed it meant everything to him leading United out to a memorable draw in the Allianz Stadium last week. He was fully backed by the Ferry family and wants to give them and the United faithful even more to cheer about this week. The left-back stated: 'My mum and dad were there. 'Even before the game, my mum was saying don't take it for granted because it was something I had dreamt of. 'They are massive football fans and used to go and watch City. 'They never thought they would be coming to see me in European competition. 'I know they are really proud as well. 'I think it was my gran and sister who were at home. 'They would have had the game on television and I am sure the dog was watching as well.' The ex-Southampton player knows United need to be fully focused and on it if they want to get the win they need against Rapid. Ferry insisted: 'We aren't getting carried away in the changing room, I can't emphasise that enough. 'Yes, we have come in and we are all happy but it was still a bit subdued because we know we still haven't achieved anything. 'The job is only half-done and we are not going to get carried away. There is not an inferiority complex, it is not there because we know we can do it. 'The first leg performance was confirmation of that. We are going into that game and some people might see us as underdogs. "We will take that but we know we can match teams. We would never write ourselves off and we are never out. 'We have been behind twice and come back twice. We know if we do it right then we can match them and hopefully get through the tie.' The good thing from Jim Goodwin 's point of view is that their strikers Zac Sapsford and Max Watters both scored and caused Rapid all sorts of problems in the first game. The defender stated: 'Zac was involved in both of them and you can't ask for much more. (Owen) Stirton came on and caused chaos, which was what we needed him to do because we were under the cosh. 'It shows because it was through sheer grit and determination that we scored those two goals. We had chances but those goals were down to a bit of individual quality and good passing but with Zac it was sheer determination in the end. 'He ran himself into the ground and could hardly move at the end. 'He got his rewards at the end. 'He has been thrown in and now he has scored in Europe. 'I doubt three months ago he would have even thought that was a thing. We've got quality and it is just a case of putting it together and knitting certain relationships together. We are getting there.' Scottish football's coefficient got a shot in the arm last week with United's draw and wins for Rangers and Hibs, against Viktoria Plzen and Partizan Belgrade, in particular. Ferry is hoping they can all fly the flag again this week. He said: 'I am not sitting here hoping Hibs do this or that but it is good for the game in general. 'We go out wanting to do the league and Scottish football proud. 'We want to stay in as long as we can to boost the coefficient. We want as many teams as possible competing in Europe. 'Hopefully, we are taking it on our back and showing we can compete.' United have already added Danish midfielder Julius Eskesen from Haugesund but is unavailable for the second leg against Rapid.

Sergio Aguero is confident Manchester City will assert themselves as a genuine force once again and reclaim the Premier League title. City's sustained period of dominance came crashing to a halt last season as Liverpool stormed to the title in Arne Slot's first year at the helm in English football. Having lifted the trophy in each of the previous four seasons, City eventually had to settle for third place, with Pep Guardiola's side finishing 13 points adrift of the Merseyside giants in the top flight. But City fans should be encouraged by their mini-resurgence across a strong end to the campaign to ensure another year of Champions League football which, at times, looked doubtful. Rangers sent Champions League warning over Club Brugge phenomenon that's 'almost impossible' to stop
Russell Martin's men face the Belgians for a place in the league phase of UEFA's premier competition Rangers have been warned Club Brugge star man Carlos Forbs is "almost impossible" to defend against - as skipper Hans Vanaken says their Champions League showdown will be the same level of challenge as playing against Celtic last season. And the Belgian international reckons both sides can forget about their friendly at Ibrox last month. Rangers face the Belgian cracks for a place in the league stages of the lucrative Champions League. from two goals down to eliminate RB Salzburg at home. Vanaken was the hero by scoring the winning goal three minutes into injury time to seal a 3-2 win. But Vanaken reckons they have to take their games to new levels to see off Russell Martin 's side, who won through despite a 2-1 loss to Viktoria Plzen. He said: "It will be a similar match to the one against Celtic last season, where we drew 1-1 in Glasgow. That worked out well for us then, although we'll have to raise our game against Rangers. "I know we played at Ibrox in a pre-season friendly, but I don't think you can compare it. The atmosphere in their stadium will be fantastic; that's no secret. We'll have to handle that." And he's pinpointed his club's danger man - former Manchester City and Ajax winger Carlos Forbs. He added: "We all know his qualities. "He's incredibly fast and has great movement. He can play both on the left and right wings, which is practically impossible to defend. He's a real weapon for us." Forbs has already targeted getting past Rangers to reach the riches of the Champions League. He said: "We have a couple of tough games ahead against Rangers. "I still have to improve physically too, I think. My dream is to play in the Champions League here. "Club Brugge are the biggest team in Belgium. I had plenty of offers to go elsewhere this summer, but once they asked, it was an easy decision to sign here."
