First 100 'Made in Algeria' Products on An International Website
In this context, former Minister of Trade, Said Djellab, revealed in a post on his official LinkedIn account, in his capacity as supervisor of the initiative, that this process 'represents the first international window for Algerian products in the fields of agriculture, crafts, food industries, hygiene products, clothing, and household appliances,' noting that the selection process was based on quality and adherence to international standards.
The international trade expert explained that the team is racing against time to complete the selection process for final products, in coordination with the Algerian companies included on the website. He called on the remaining economic operators who had not yet joined the project to expedite the registration of their products, taking advantage of this promotional opportunity.
In another surprise, Djellab announced the launch of a smart platform project currently under preparation. This platform, based on artificial intelligence technologies, will be specifically designed to support Algerian exporters and provide practical solutions that facilitate targeting and accessing foreign markets.
The website is expected to be officially launched in mid-September 2025, at a ceremony whose details will be announced later.
The team supervising the process told Echorouk that 'contacts and consultations are currently underway with several Algerian companies to list their products on the website. The initial goal is to include 100 products that meet international quality standards, production stages, and other criteria.
According to the same source, strict specifications have been adopted for accepting a product onto the website. It must comply with all required international standards and criteria. This will subsequently allow customers abroad to easily access product details, thus creating export opportunities and promoting Algerian products.
According to details provided to Echorouk, the initiative's supervisors have engaged in consultations and communications with national stakeholders in logistics, air, sea, and land transport, to export the products that will be included on the list. They are also promoting the website, particularly in Europe and North America, relying primarily on executives and activists from the Algerian diaspora.
This initiative is overseen by the SAF International Product DZ, an innovative digital interface that aims to promote products manufactured and produced in Algeria worldwide. This vision is built on three pillars: knowledge, action, and loyalty. This approach relies on a comprehensive approach that combines technical expertise with a thorough understanding of the requirements of international markets.
The platform consists of an Algerian team working to support national companies in their export projects by providing up-to-date information on foreign markets, monitoring the latest trade trends, and proposing realistic solutions based on artificial intelligence to support export decisions.
Thanks to this integrated system, SAF International Product DZ provides professional consulting services to exporters, including formulating market entry strategies, selecting internationally marketable products, and adapting them to global standards. It also aims to strengthen the loyalty of trading partners by building long-term relationships based on trust and competence.
The platform also aspires to become the first smart reference in Algeria for digitally promoting national products, while working to attract more institutions that believe in the ability of products 'Made in Algeria' to compete internationally.

Paris Seeks Alternative Diplomatic Ways With Algeria
The French authorities have resorted to alternative diplomacy to preserve their remaining interests in Algeria, which have suffered unprecedented damage since the outbreak of the crisis between the two countries following France's shift in position on the Sahara issue, resulting in a decline in diplomatic representation to the level of chargé d'affaires. This refers to parliamentary activity, which is considered complementary and sometimes transforms, as in the current situation between Algeria and Paris, into an alternative diplomacy, given the severing of official ties. This was embodied by the visit of the French Senator Akli Mellouli and National Assembly MP, Sabrina Sebaihi, to Algeria. Akli Mellouli serves as Vice-Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Armed Forces Committee in the upper house of the French Parliament and Vice-Chair of the Algerian-French Friendship Group. MP Sabrina Sebaihi is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the lower house of the French Parliament and Vice-Chair of the Algerian-French Friendship Group. The two parliamentarians were received by Michel Bisac, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the French Embassy in Algeria. In a post on his LinkedIn account on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the CCIF President welcomed his guests and spoke of a 'useful and constructive exchange with member business leaders on prospects for developing and strengthening economic relations between the two countries.' Both Akli Mellouli and Sabrina Sebaihi are considered moderate political voices in France. They advocate for respecting Algeria and maintaining stable relations with it, to preserve bridges of communication and safeguard the intertwined social ties between the two shores of the Mediterranean. The visit of the French elected officials comes at a time of great complexity in relations between Algeria and Paris, which have been ongoing for exactly a year, following weeks of renewed political and media controversy between the two countries. The latest was the escalating measures announced by the French Foreign Ministry regarding diplomatic portfolios, a measure to which Algeria responded with another measure based on the principle of reciprocity established in diplomatic norms. This is not the first time French politicians have resorted to this approach in an attempt to de-escalate tensions with Algeria and preserve, as much as possible, Paris's economic and cultural interests in Algeria. However, these attempts have so far failed miserably, due to the depth of the crisis that has shaken relations between the two capitals. More than two weeks ago, Sébastien Delogu, MP representing the La France Insoumise party, visited Algeria. His political stance, which called on the far right to avoid harming bilateral relations to preserve Paris' interests, led to a racist campaign by those political circles. Upon his return to Paris, he denounced the campaign in a post on X. MP Sébastien Delogu wrote: 'In line with the unprecedented attacks launched by the right and the far right to create conflict in French-Algerian relations, I was immediately attacked, to exploit my visit (to Algeria), ridiculing me, and distorting my presence there.' He emphasized that 'the shared memory between us and the Algerian people must prompt us to envision a future based on the principles of respect, equality, and brotherhood between our peoples.' The French parliamentarians' visit to Algeria is not expected to help calm the escalating tensions between the two countries. This is because the decision-making power in the French state is no longer controlled by the Elysée Palace, as it is supposed to be, but by unconstitutional forces surrounding it. This is what Bruno Retailleau, Interior Minister in François Bayrou's government, is keen to implement. As is known, he has caused a new diplomatic crisis, about which the Quai d'Orsay Palace said that it was not consulted, in a caricatured scene that sums up the situation that a country like France has reached.

Spanish Official Statistics: Resurgence of Local Ceramics Production in Algeria
Official data released by the trade authorities in the Spanish region of Valencia revealed a strong resurgence of Algeria in the import market for ceramic equipment, supplies, and raw materials. This is a clear indication of the sector's local recovery after years of relying on the importation of Spanish finished products, which cost hundreds of millions of dollars. According to statistics revealed by the Spanish trade authorities two days ago, Algeria imported 44.6 million euros worth of semi-molten glass, ceramic coatings, and industrial coloured paints during the first five months of 2025, making it Spain's second-largest foreign customer in this sector, ahead of India and behind only Italy. This remarkable increase is a direct result of the improvement in trade relations between Algeria and Madrid following the decision to lift the trade freeze last November. This ended more than two years of a near-total trade rift, which had caused significant losses for the sector, estimated by Spanish financial and business circles at more than €300 million. The ceramics sector in Algeria is currently experiencing a significant production boom, which explains the growing demand for Spanish raw materials, particularly those used in glazes and ceramic and tile colouring. This is particularly true in light of the massive housing sector programs planned for the coming years, such as 'ADL 3' projects, which have attracted more than one million subscribers. This development confirms that Algeria's industrial sector, particularly ceramics, is undergoing a structural transformation based on expanding production capacity and investing in new units, which requires the import of increasing quantities of raw materials. On the other hand, Spain recorded a 2% overall growth in its exports of these products to various global markets last May, totalling 77.5 million euros. However, Algeria was among the few countries to achieve a steady and stable increase since the beginning of 2025. Data indicates that, unlike in previous years, Algeria has transformed from an importer of Spanish ceramic and porcelain products, which used to amount hundreds of millions of dollars annually, with quantities reaching 1 million tons in 2018, to a buyer of factory equipment and supplies, as well as raw materials such as semi-glass materials and various ceramic coatings. At the end of last May, a high-level Spanish delegation from the ceramics and porcelain sector visited Batna and Setif, eastern Algeria, to discuss partnership opportunities in Algerian factories in this vital sector. This came after Spanish businessmen and companies in the sector became convinced of the need to engage with Algeria in local production partnerships and that there was no room for widespread imports, as was the case previously.
