MasterChef Australia fans slam the show's 'repulsive' hygiene standards: 'I thought that was a big no no!'
Eagle-eyed viewers have singled out recent episodes where fan favourites can be seen sporting rings and necklaces while preparing food.
'I have noticed that a lot of contestants wear jewellery when cooking. I thought that was a big no no in the hospitality industry?' a fan wrote on a Reddit discussion board.
The viewer also took issue with Jamie Fleming and his choice of headwear.
'Same with Jamie wearing his caps,' the user said of Fleming, who first appeared on the show in 2014 and returned this year for the Back To Win season.

'I've been saying this for years,' added another disappointed viewer.
'Wearing rings while handling meat/poultry/seafood and/or working dough etc, is genuinely repulsive.
'I don't care how many times they wash their hands in between each step. Why on earth can't they take off their jewellery for their cooks??!!'
Added another viewer, 'I don't think we need or will ever see hair nets but at least tidy, pulled back hair, and no hanging jewellery or bracelets/rings.'
'Also, shouldn't people be pulling their hair back?' said another viewer.
Viewers were particularly disturbed to see contestant Sarah Todd wearing jewellery and Snezana 'Snez' Calic wearing her long hair out.
'Surely there shouldn't be fringes and loose strands of hair free across the face - should have to tuck it under a cap or something?'
It comes after MasterChef Australia fans were up in arms after two stars from the cooking show appeared to break a kitchen taboo during an episode last week.
The moment came as contestants were preparing their courses for the service immunity challenge at Melbourne 's Vue De Monde.
As contestant Laura Sharrad flamed a handful of delicious looking wagu steaks, the 29-year-old from Adelaide was seen to blow on the food - a gesture that sent viewers firing off alarmed comments online.
'What's with Laura blowing all over the steak?' moaned one fan, while another added, 'Laura stop blowing on food.'
And to add more drama to the issue, Executive Chef Hugh Allen was seen doing exactly the same thing - cooling down a dish by blowing on the food.
'Totally fine if you're only cooking for yourself, but not if you're going to serve the food to others,' someone else said.
Another viewer agreed with the critical comments on the thread before adding, 'no one told Laura not to, then along comes Hugh and does the same.'
'All that saliva Laura is blowing over those Wagyu cubes,' said another MasterChef enthusiast.
Most viewers complaining about the 'food blowing' saw it as a hygiene risk.
'I'm not eating anything that the chef has continually blown over. That's a no-no, and I'm surprised nothing was said to Laura. But then Hugh blew over it too. Yuck,' explained one fan on the thread.
According to 2024 MasterChef Australia contestant Sumeet Saigal, the cast is informed of the hygiene standards ahead of filming.
'You're always briefed about hygiene and you're always reminded,' she told Yahoo Lifestyle last June.

Who Is Ollie Davidson? Meet Bonnie Blue's Ex-Husband
In the space of a year, Bonnie Blue, whose real name is Tia Billinger, has gone from being an OnlyFans creator to a divisive, controversy-baiting viral phenomenon. At just 26 years old, she became a household name overnight thanks to a series of x-rated publicity stunts, including having sex with more than 1,000 men in 12 hours and sleeping with hundreds of 'barely legal' virgins during Fresher's Week in Australia. She has since been permanently banned from OnlyFans because of her dangerous content. Before she got into this line of work, however, Bonnie lived an ordinary life in Derbyshire. She worked in recruitment sourcing finance assistants and accountants for the NHS. And at the age of 23, she married Ollie Davidson, a boy she met at a party when she was 15, and they moved to Australia's Gold Coast to start their life together. They are currently in the process of getting divorced. So, who is Ollie Davidson? Why are they getting divorced? And what does he make of her newfound fame? Ollie, whose full name is Oliver, works as an estate agent. He met Bonnie when they were teenagers and they got married in a register office service in February 2022. Shortly afterwards, they relocated to Australia together. While Ollie's age has not been confirmed, it's likely he is a similar age to Bonnie and is therefore 26 or 27. No, despite trying to conceive for 18 months before they moved to Australia, Bonnie and Ollie did not have children during their marriage. Bonnie claims that during her time living in Australia she put on weight and lost her dancer's physique, which is one of the reasons she got into online sex work to boost her confidence and make more money. Ollie actively encouraged her but 'didn't pimp [her] out'. Speaking to The Times , Bonnie revealed Ollie has moved back to England and they are currently getting divorced. She insisted that it has nothing to do with her work. 'We just grew apart,' she said. And after he left, she became a 'full-service' escort, having sex for money. Bonnie has since moved back to the UK herself. 'We loved each other, but we weren't in love,' she told the Daily Mail. 'So we separated, but we didn't make it official. Me doing what I've done recently had nothing to do with the relationship breakdown. But, of course, no one will believe me.' Yes, Bonnie's ex-husband features in her Channel 4 documentary, , 1000 Men And Me: The Bonnie Blue Story , which came out on 29 July. 'Ollie was beyond supportive, he gave me the confidence to do OnlyFans,' she explains. 'And it wasn't because he wanted to pimp me out, he just wanted me to be happy and have control of my life. And obviously the money was good as well.' Ollie admitted he is proud of his ex-partner. 'She really connects with the fans,' he said. 'Most people, if they do porn, they seem out of reach. You're never going to meet them.' 'You're never going to be able to film with them. Whereas Bonnie puts a location online, and then obviously her fans can actually film with her,' he continued. 'It's like a defining moment in porn, where she's completely changed the game.' Nikki Peach is a writer at Grazia UK, working across entertainment, TV and news. Gregg Wallace launches private middle-aged male only chat room for £11.99 a month in desperate bid to keep earning amid fears of 'losing everything' following MasterChef scandal
Gregg Wallace has launched a private middle-aged male only chat room for £11.99 a month in his latest attempt to keep earning money following the MasterChef scandal. Daily Mail revealed earlier this month Gregg is urgently plotting a 'survival plan' after the BBC told him it had 'no plans to work with him in future' leaving his television career in tatters. As part of his remodeling as a fitness guru, he's selling a subscription for men to join his Healthy Fifty plan. Gregg promises: 'A private chat room for men over 50. Real talk, real support – hosted by Gregg Wallace. Fitness, food, lifestyle, laughs. Sign up below and pop in to say hello.' The venture is illustrated by a photo of a laughing group of middle-aged men sat in a pub drinking pints of beer. It's a contrast to Gregg's comments last year when he hit out at 'middle class women of a certain age'. The celebrity presenter apologised for 'any offence I caused' after his controversial comments on Instagram. It's not the first online subscription Gregg has set up to earn the funds as he recently launched his new career as PT just weeks ago after he lost five stone three years ago. Gregg announced he is personally training clients to improve their 'wellness' for the £200 a month fee. In a video posted to Instagram, he explained: 'You do not have to accept decline as a part of getting older. You can do something about this. You can be leaner, fitter, healthier, [and] have more energy.' Gregg continued: 'I went on my own wellness journey and I am healthier at 60 than I was at 30. I coach people over 50. I help them feel better and look better and have more confidence. 'If you would like to speak to me about your own health journey, leave me a message here.' Earlier this month, sources close to Gregg said he has vowed to relaunch himself independently on a string of digital platforms. Gregg is desperate to keep earning, having been side-lined since last year following a raft of allegations about his inappropriate behaviour on set at MasterChef. It's not the first online subscription Gregg has set up to earn the funds as he recently launched his new career as PT just weeks ago after he lost five stone three years ago Gregg is desperate to keep earning, having been side-lined since last year following a raft of allegations about his inappropriate behaviour on set at MasterChef A report substantiated 45 of the 83 allegations against him, and the BBC informed the star that it had no intention of working with him in the future. He is now frantically seeking a new agent and planning a return to the spotlight using social media to air self-made content about food and healthy living – having watched others succeed after losing their mainstream TV work. Gregg is said to fear financial ruin, having seen several of his businesses forced into administration with mammoth debts and he has previously admitted 'losing everything' was the worst experience of his life. The father-of-three, who has had three costly divorces from his ex-wives, now lives in a five-bedroom farmhouse in Kent alongside three generations of his family, including his wife Anne-Marie Sterpini, in-laws and young son who has autism – but has 'never been great with money' according to those who know him. As one insider said: 'He really should take a break from the spotlight and work out for himself what has gone wrong, he might learn a bit about himself and start to recognise the mistakes he has made, but all he can think about right now is how to keep the cash rolling in.' 'Money is clearly at the very forefront of his mind – much more so than whether this is actually his own fault. 'He's telling people he needs to get straight back to work whatever it takes for financial reasons, and seems to think he can follow in the footsteps of other people who have lost prominent jobs in mainstream TV and go it alone. His biggest fear is losing everything he has worked so hard for and going bust. 'He also wants to get himself a new agent pretty quickly to land some commercial deals – he's had big endorsement arrangements in the past which have paid a fortune, but it's hard to imagine any big brand wanting to snap him up at the moment.' Instead he is widely expected to ramp up his content on YouTube and TikTok as he pursues other revenue streams outside of mainstream broadcasting.
