Real Madrid: Thibaut Courtois drops bombshell about his future
While on vacation, Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid's shot-stopper, has just sent a powerful message. His announcement is sure to catch the attention of several European heavyweights.
Having arrived at Real Madrid in the summer of 2018 from Chelsea, and regarded as the best in his position in recent years, Thibaut Courtois has firmly established himself at the Santiago Bernabéu. In recent weeks, talks of a contract extension have surfaced.
Los Merengues are reportedly ready to make an exception and offer the Belgian goalkeeper a contract until 2027, which would be an additional two years. Clearly pleased by this gesture, Courtois was recently asked about his future. Speaking at the Belgian Grand Prix, he confirmed that talks with club officials are underway.
"Negotiations are ongoing. I want to stay at Real Madrid for as long as possible. My dream is to retire there," he declared. The ball is now in Florentino Pérez's court!

AC Milan open talks to sign Liverpool striker Nunez
AC Milan have made their first move to sign Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez (h/t Sky Sports). The Italian giants have held initial talks with the Premier League club as they continue their search for a new number nine this summer. While no formal bid has been made yet, Milan have stepped up interest in the Uruguayan forward and are weighing up a possible approach. The 26-year-old joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022. Despite showing flashes of quality, he has struggled for consistency in front of goal across all competitions. Liverpool willing to let Nunez leave Hugo Ekitike has joined Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt, while the club are also looking at Newcastle United's Alexander Isak. The arrival of more attacking options could limit Nunez's chances next season. That has led to speculation over his future at Anfield. Milan are one of several clubs exploring a deal. Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have also shown interest, but Nunez prefers to remain in Europe. That desire could work in Milan's favour, as they continue to explore various attacking targets. They need a reliable centre-forward to lead the line. The club have already been linked with Goncalo Ramos and Artem Dovbyk. Nunez finished last season with seven goals and seven assists across all competitions. His movement and work rate have been praised, but his finishing and decision-making still raise questions. With talks already underway, Milan will be hoping to agree terms soon.

Brazil's Paixao promises 'big things' at Marseille unveiling
Brazil striker Igor Paixao was unveiled at Marseille on Monday as he vowed to deliver in Ligue 1 the form and ambition he showed at Feyenoord. The 25-year-old scored 18 goals and provided 19 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions last season, before his 35 million euros ($40 million) switch to Marseille on a five-year deal. After finishing runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain last year, Marseille will play in the Champions League in the upcoming campaign where Paixao can link up with former Manchester United star Mason Greenwood. Paixao said he owed it to Marseille to give everything, and that this matched his ambition to make the Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup. "Marseille is a club with values. That's very important for me, for everyone. I want to give my all... It's a major responsibility and I think we're going to do big things," he said. Paixao added he was inspired by former Marseille player Franck Ribery. "With his dribbling, his goals, Ribery was an exceptional player, I will try to be like him, to be able to make history with this club," he said. Paixao earned one Brazil under-23 cap in 2023. we/dmc/nf
