Ncuti Gatwa heavily teases he 'might' return to Doctor Who
Ncuti Gatwa just dropped an almighty tease about a possible return to Doctor Who after his swift two-season run as the main man.
The Sex Education actor, 32, stepped into the role in 2023, but after just 18 months departed amid low viewing figures and a lack of hype surrounding the series.
At the time, Ncuti explained he walked away from the iconic role because he was 'getting old'.
He continued, talking to Laura Kuenssberg: 'My body was tired. It takes a lot out of you. Physically, emotionally, mentally. It was time.'
But the road might not be over just yet.

On tonight's episode of The One Show, when quizzed by Alex Jones about his regret of never having fought a Dalek or Cyberman – Doctor Who's most iconic villains – he responded with what appeared to be a tease.
'I never got to fight a Dalek or a Cyberman. Just the crux of Doctor Who. Yeah, so… Might do that… Might go fight a Dalek,' he said, before Jamie Lee Curtis erupted on the sofa next to him, and joked the BBC magazine show was giving them 'truth serum' instead of water.
'I know!' Ncuti exclaimed, before taking a drink of water.

In the final episode of Doctor Who, aired on May 31 by Disney and BBC, saw Ncuti 'regenerate' into an unexpected form, as is tradition with the show when a new Doctor replaces another.
This time, though, the 15th doctor regenerated into Billie Piper, who played the Doctor's assistant Rose Tyler between 2005 and 2010 alongide David Tennent.
Whether she is the 16th Doctor remains to be seen.
In a press release after the regeneration, the BBC said: 'Just how and why she [Billie Piper] is back remains to be seen…'
Billie said fans would have to 'wait and see' what she does next .
Many fans noted that in the credits for the last episode The Reality War, where Billie made the unexpected return, she was not credited as the Doctor as in all other cases, but simply: 'Introducing Billie Piper.'
It seems Billie might be returning in a smaller capacity, as in an interview with The Independent in 2024, she previously explained: 'I wouldn't go back as a full-time thing, but I'd love to make another appearance.'
Meanwhile, in a statement announcing his departure, Ncuti – who is the first Doctor since Christopher Eccleston to act in fewer than three seasons – said: 'You know when you get cast, at some point you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it.'
He added: 'There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe.'

Gatwa thanked fans for making it a 'touching experience', adding: 'I've loved every minute of it, but now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved blue box and let someone else take control and enjoy it every bit as much as I have.
'I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful to it, and everyone that has played a part in my journey as the Doctor.'
Ncuti's desire to fight a Dalek has been well-documented over the years, as he told Entertainment Weekly early doors: 'What on earth would be the point of me being Doctor Who if I never fight the Daleks?'
Despite this, the bubble-wrapped bin villains never showed up on screen during his tenure, and neither did Cybermen and the Master.
While the next series of Doctor Who hasn't officially been confirmed, it's been reported the BBC will continue the series regardless of whether Disney are up for future collaborations or not. More Trending
This came after rumours Disney could be withdrawing its partnership due to poor viewing figures.
However, Doctor Who fans will be pleased to hear The Mirror reported a few months ago that showrunner Russell T Davies has planned the next two seasons, with scripts for season 16 almost finished and the 17th season in the works.
So perhaps Ncuti really does know something we don't…

Freddie Flintoff reunites with 'superhero' medics who treated him after Top Gear crash
The former cricketer and presenter said he will be "eternally grateful" to the team of healthcare professionals who treated him following his Top Gear crash in 2022 Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff has returned to the hospital where he was treated after his devastating Top Gear crash to thank the team of 'superheroes' who cared for him. The former cricketer and presenter, 47, suffered severe facial injuries when he flipped a three-wheel car whilst filming an episode of Top Gear in December 2022. He later revealed that he thought he 'was dead' and remembered being 'frightened to death'. Freddie was taken to St George's Hospital in Tooting, southwest London, where he underwent surgery and has since returned to the hospital. It comes after Top Gear host admitted he 'never got along' with Jeremy Clarkson as he made a bold statement. Upon Freddie's return to St George's, he said: "I just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff at St George's. I came here probably the lowest I've ever been, in need of help and the expertise, the love, the compassion they showed me was incredible." He added: "I'll be eternally grateful - absolute superheroes." Freddie met with maxillofacial surgeon Jahrad Haq, who was on call the day that the presenter came in with his injuries. Haq said: 'A lot of injuries are managed at a more junior level before escalating, so I knew this one was serious. Of all the trauma cases I've seen in over 20 years, this was among the most complex.' In the Disney+ documentary Flintoff, which came out earlier this year, the surgeon explained that Freddie's injuries included broken and lost teeth, and that elements of his upper jaw bone were fractured and displaced. Haq said that Freddie "lost a really significant portion of his upper lip - the skin and some of the underlying muscle - and also his lower lip'. Freddie, meanwhile, said he didn't think he would be able to get through the situation, explaining: "This sounds awful: part of me wishes I'd been killed. Part of me thinks 'I wish I had died.' I didn't want to kill myself. I don't want to mistake the two things. But I was thinking: 'This would have been so much easier.'" The sports star said his "biggest fear" was that he no longer had a face after he found himself being dragged along the track during the crash. He said: "I thought my face had come off. I was frightened to death." Following the crash, BBC Studios released a statement referring to an independent investigation held in 2023. It said: "[The review] found that while BBC Studios had complied with the required BBC policies and industry best practice in making the show, there were important learnings which would need to be rigorously applied to future Top Gear UK productions." Since the crash, Freddie has been working as a cricket coach for the England Lions, something which his family said has been vital to his recovery. His wife, Rachael, explained: "When Andrew needed it most, cricket was there for him… It sounds a bit weird saying it, a bit over the top to say, but I do think cricket saved him. It gave him a reason for being, again."

Rachel Riley issues damning Strictly Come Dancing verdict as she's quizzed on comeback
Rachel Riley famously met her now-husband when she competed on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, but has now revealed why she would not go back to the dancefloor Rachel Riley has described her new reality TV show as being more 'real' than Strictly Come Dancing ever was. The Countdown star, 39, famously struck up a relationship with professional dancer Pasha Kovalev when she took part in the BBC competition in 2019, and they tied the knot six years later. But now that she can be seen on Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters on ITV, she has issued a damning comment about the dancing competition because at least she knew what to expect with her new venture. It comes after Strictly's Anton Du Beke shared heartbreak over wife's 'cruel and inexplicable' diagnosis. On Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters, Rachel is seen alongside the likes of Amandaland star Lucy Punch, Call the Midwife actress Helen George and comedian Lenny Henry amongst a host of others as they jet off to the Bahamas to face their fears and confront the sea predators, all upon the 50th anniversary of the cinematic classic Jaws. And Rachel was keen to note that she would rather face the great whites than head back to the dancefloor. During an appearance on Friday's Lorraine, stand-in host Christine Lampard said "You've said you'd rather swim with sharks than do Strictly again..." and Rachel replied: "This is kind of real, it's blue sky, blue sea, nature. You know what you're getting there. Strictly is just a whole level of other stuff. I'll take great whites over Strictly, for sure." Rachel, who shares Maven, five, and Noa, three, with Pasha, admitted that she couldn't bear the thought of telling her kids what she had signed up for because she didn't want them to have nightmares. Asked about her family's reaction, she said: "Pasha was jealous. My kids, they were two and four when I was doing it. I didn't want to scare them, I didn't want them to have dreams that I was being eaten by a shark. So I didn't tell them til I got there. And by the pool where we got our training, there were these Bull sharks, these scary, mean predators." But in the end, Rachel had nothing to worry about as her children seemed to be somewhat impressed when she video-called them from location, as she explained: "So I showed them these massive beasts and they said 'Are you going swimming with them mummy?' So it made me realise that we don't have an in-built fear of sharks." And for Rachel, who shot to fame when she replaced Carol Vorderman on Channel 4's Countdown, is even enjoying getting the chance to watch it all back, although she normally can't bear to watch herself on screen. She said: "I normally can't watch anything that I've been on back, but I can't get enough of this programme. It just brings back all the memories and it was the experience of as lifetime, the stuff we got to see, being in a shark sanctuary which is the whole of the Bahamas, it was just the trip of a lifetime." Rachel added: "It's not your typical reality TV where there's gratuitous tasks, it's not [about] winning. It's about learning about sharks and I was just intrigued and excited but Lucy [Punch] hated them. "She learned to love them and we learned why they're so important to our oceans. 100 million sharks are being taken every year through fishing practices and all kinds of reasons. "We need to preserve them. It's dispelling a lot of myths that things like Jaws brought about. They're not interested in is, we're not in their diet. Five or six people die every year from shark attacks, which if you compare it to, I think 500 die from elephants and we don't have that respect to preserve them."

GAVIN and Stacey star Mathew Horne struggled to hold back the tears after revealing how a member of the show had tragically died. Mat told the audience how all the cast and crew had become ''like a family'' working together on the show over 17 years and how his TV mum Alison Steadman who plays Pamela had become 'a surrogate mum'. He added: "In 2019 before the Christmas special - part one of the finale if you like - aired, I lost my mother and Alison really stepped up and she became my surrogate mother off screen as well. "Whenever she texts me even now she signs it 'Mum'. And that is cool. That is so beautiful. And she says 'How are you, my little prince?' It means the world to me." The final episode of the long-running series aired on Christmas Day last year, with 19.1 million viewers tuning in for the last instalment. The tear-jerker of a special ended with Smithy and Nessa finally tying the knot - after a five-year cliffhanger following Nessa's shock proposal at the end of the last Christmas special. The happy ending looked unlikely as the feature-length episode kicked off, with viewers quickly learning Smithy had said no in favour of sticking with his stuffy girlfriend Sonia. But fans got what they craved when Smithy, aided by Gavin and Stacey 's nearest and dearest, fled his and fiancée Sonia's wedding to drive to Southampton Port to intercept Nessa before she took to the seas having turned her back on Barry Island. Gavin and Stacey's Best Moments With the news that the show is set to make an exciting return to screens, let's take a look at some of the comedy programme's biggest and best moments... Smithy and Rudi's American Boy rap - No one will ever forget when James Corden and Sheridan Smith rapped perfectly word for word the Kanye West and Estelle hit American Boy as they walked across the car park on the phone to Gavin. Pam's Vegetarian faux pas - Despite loving a cheesburger, Pam found herself caught up in a web of unexpected lies when she claimed to be Vegetarian. THAT fishing trip - It remains one of the biggest mysteries in Gavin and Stacey history as to just exactly what did happen on the ill-fated fishing trip. Bryn appears to be hiding a secret as to an occurance between him and his nephew Jason which has left relations fractures. Ness' on-off boyfriend, Dave, is the only other person to know the whole truth. Bryn did appear to allude to him and Jason lying together naked to keep warm as he said to Dave: 'We're going to have this out, once and for all, man to man, you may know what happened, David, but you don't know why it happened! It was freezing cold, it was! And when you are that cold…' Islands in the Stream - No one can ever forget the classic Karaoke performance of Islands in the Stream. Nessa and Bryn performed the track in front of all their nearest and dearest. It saw the whole pub burst into some line-dancing as they enjoyed a boozy night out. The Xmas special proposal - In 2019, fans were left overjoyed when the show made a comeback but it ended on the ultimate cliffhanger. Nessa asked Smithy if she would marry him as she finally laid bare her feelings for him. Fans were gutted as the show then cut straight to the credits as they never found out just how Smithy answered. Will all be revealed in the brand new episode? Nessa eventually accepted, paving the way for a registry office wedding in front of the show's most popular faces.
