"It's difficult to predict anything": Stamp Fairtex admits uncertainty ahead of much-anticipated comeback match

Former three-sport ONE Championship world champion Stamp Fairtex is preparing for her highly anticipated return with a surprisingly humble and down-to-earth approach. Stamp returns to the Circle for the first time in almost 2 years following a serious knee injury, and she is filled with uncertainty instead of bravado regarding her performance.
Aside from it being rare for a fighter to take this position, it is even more so for Topnoi, who will step into the ONE Championship ring against former K-1 flyweight champion Kana Morimoto in an atomweight kickboxing bout at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri on November 16 at Tokyo's Ariake Arena- coincidentally, also her birthday. Instead of an outcome, Stamp views the match as a test of whether she is ready to move on to the next chapter of her celebrated fighting career.
'This will be a chance to prove myself, whether I can make a comeback or not. I don't even expect a great result from myself. I'm unsure. It's been a long time since I last fought. It's difficult to predict anything from both her and my side.'
Stamp Fairtex is approaching her return with vulnerability, not confidence
Having been undefeated in MMA, Muay Thai, and kickboxing at one point in the past, Stamp Fairtex returns with a 'back-to-basics' approach and a genuine sense of humility. She was the reigning ONE Women's Atomweight MMA World Champion, a role that had always been accompanied by quiet confidence.

The high expectations surrounding her comeback have been intensified by her prolonged absence due to a serious knee injury, which has allowed younger talents to emerge in her absence.
Instead of a return to dominance, Stamp sends a message of recovery and maturity, recognizing this fight is just as much about rehabilitation as competition.

Comeback carries emotional weight and professional uncertainty
Professionally, the return of Stamp is not just a milestone moment, but personally, it is also a special one.
The return to the cage against Kana on November 16, which is also her birthday, is about much more than just that for her. Last month, Stamp opened up about the mental struggle of returning after such a lengthy layoff, and with fans worldwide clamoring for her return, she won't be anticipating fireworks.
Focusing on winning comes second here; replay and see how Stamp reframes it by prioritizing an assessment of her preparedness over victory. Not about the records broken or the victories won, it's about remembering exactly who she is and how strong she can be, to rediscover that confidence to show the world that when the fire burns brightest, she still belongs on top, even if the fire doesn't quite come back yet.

Australia coach Schmidt hails 'great bunch of young men'

Australia coach Joe Schmidt said on Saturday he hoped a phenomenal 38-22 Rugby Championship comeback win over South Africa in Johannesburg showed his team are on the road toward earning respect. HT Image The Wallabies, who had not beaten South Africa at Ellis Park since 1963, recovered from trailing 22-0 to beat the reigning World champions and Championship title-holders. Following a torrid last few years, the victory continues Australia's resurgence after being well beaten in the first Test against the British and Irish Lions, losing the second by just three points and then winning the dead rubber 22-12. "This has got to rank very highly in terms of wins and for me personally, since usually you get absolutely swamped here in the last quarter," said Schmidt. "The players had to hang in there and I am really proud of the way they did that." "You have got to earn respect every time you (play), you have to be really competitive in every game. "We are still building our strength in depth and our game shape, but this is a great bunch of young men who have shown the ability to roll their sleeves up and earn that support. "They deserve it and I hope there was really good support for them back in Australia." "When the Springboks get their game going, when they are accurate, they are very hard to stop. In the first 40 minutes there was just wave after wave coming. "But Fraser McReight stole the ball a few times, and the determination the team showed was very pleasing. "This is a really tight group, they get on very well together. We have had a chance to gel and a real collective resilience was in evidence tonight." "We were not always on the front foot." "There were some fantastic diving tackles where we just got a boot or half a jersey. We needed a little bit of luck as well," added Schmidt. Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus called the performance "really awful", blaming poor game management after a brilliant opening quarter. "When you are 22-0 up, you tend to take chances, but you still need to build an innings or you can end up losing by nearly 20 points like tonight. "There were so many breaks when Grant Williams, Manie Libbok or Edwill van der Merwe almost got away, but sometimes you have to realise that you are not quite going to get it. "Their kick-to-ruck ratio was much better than ours -- we only kicked nine times in the second half. It's definitely not wrong to say we overplayed. "But they did not just tactically outsmart us, but physically too. The longer the game went on, the stronger the Wallabies were. "It was a bad loss and at some stage our heads and shoulders were down. It was sad that there was no fightback so we gave them a bonus point and did not get one ourselves." str-dl/pb

Geoff Neal shares rare update on wife Kayla Neal ahead of UFC 319 fight with Carlos Prates (Image via Getty) Geoff Neal, a well-known UFC fighter nicknamed 'Hands of Steel,' opened up about his wife just before his big fight with Carlos Prates. This happened in early August 2025. The fight is set for August 16, 2025, inside the United Center in Chicago. Neal said his wife, Kayla Neal, gives him strong support because she once trained in jiu-jitsu. Her experience helps her know exactly how hard fight training can be. Neal's talk gives fans a rare peek into his private life. Geoff Neal reveals how wife Kayla Neal supports him before UFC 319 in Chicago Geoff Neal and his team recorded behind-the-scenes videos for UFC 319, including episode 1 of UFC 319 Embedded, which dropped during fight week (around August 11, 2025). In that video, Neal said: 'My wife trained before! She used to do jits, and I'm really taking all that, so she has an understanding of what it takes.' That line shows how much he trusts Kayla's own jiu-jitsu background to support him through fight prep. Kayla also spoke up. She described how tough Neal's training week gets close to a fight: 'It's a lot of long days, a lot of heavy training days, especially this close. It's two sessions a day, and he's busy and just exhausted. So, it's just chaotic, and it's a little nerve-racking.' Her words help fans feel the real effort behind life as a fighter. That's my goal. Granted, I'm training for three rounds, but I'm really training for a one-round fight. There is no reason this fight should go past Round 1.' Geoff Neal has already fought big names like Shavkat Rakhmonov, Ian Garry, and Rafael dos Anjos. He beat Dos Anjos by TKO in Round 1 at UFC 308 in October 2024. This record gives him the confidence that he can finish this fight early, too.
