Geoff Neal, a well-known UFC fighter nicknamed 'Hands of Steel,' opened up about his wife just before his big fight with Carlos Prates. This happened in early August 2025. The fight is set for August 16, 2025, inside the United Center in Chicago.
Neal said his wife, Kayla Neal, gives him strong support because she once trained in jiu-jitsu. Her experience helps her know exactly how hard fight training can be. Neal's talk gives fans a rare peek into his private life.
Geoff Neal reveals how wife Kayla Neal supports him before UFC 319 in Chicago
Geoff Neal and his team recorded behind-the-scenes videos for UFC 319, including episode 1 of UFC 319 Embedded, which dropped during fight week (around August 11, 2025). In that video, Neal said:
'My wife trained before! She used to do jits, and I'm really taking all that, so she has an understanding of what it takes.'
That line shows how much he trusts Kayla's own jiu-jitsu background to support him through fight prep.
Kayla also spoke up. She described how tough Neal's training week gets close to a fight:
'It's a lot of long days, a lot of heavy training days, especially this close. It's two sessions a day, and he's busy and just exhausted. So, it's just chaotic, and it's a little nerve-racking.'
Her words help fans feel the real effort behind life as a fighter.

'Whoever can keep from getting hit is going to win. I really feel like it's going to be a one-round fight. That's my goal. Granted, I'm training for three rounds, but I'm really training for a one-round fight. There is no reason this fight should go past Round 1.'
Geoff Neal has already fought big names like Shavkat Rakhmonov, Ian Garry, and Rafael dos Anjos. He beat Dos Anjos by TKO in Round 1 at UFC 308 in October 2024. This record gives him the confidence that he can finish this fight early, too.
The match with Carlos Prates was first scheduled for April 12, 2025, at UFC 314, but Neal withdrew and the fight was postponed. Now, fans will finally see them face off in Chicago on August 16, 2025.

Patrick Mahomes breaks silence on Kareem Hunt's return to Kansas City Chiefs 6 years after assault video went viral: 'He isn't a bad person'

Star QB Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid weigh in on Kareem Hunt's controversial re-signing. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes , typically measured with his words, didn't hold back in offering support for running back Kareem Hunt's comeback. In September, amid an injury to Isiah Pacheco, the Chiefs made a surprising move by re-signing Hunt – six years after releasing him following a widely circulated video showing Hunt violently kicking a woman. Although he wasn't arrested, the incident led to Hunt stepping away and spending time with the Cleveland Browns. When the topic resurfaced on the team's docuseries The Kingdom, Mahomes chose to focus on growth and redemption. Mahomes believes one bad choice shouldn't define Hunt's career Although Patrick Mahomes usually keeps things low-key in interviews, he spoke openly about Kareem Hunt's past and his return to the Kansas City Chiefs. The quarterback made it clear he believes in second chances and sees Hunt as someone who is learning and growing. 'What he did was wrong, but I know in his heart he isn't a bad person,' Mahomes said. 'It's how you can become better and learn from them. I think that's something that he embraced. He wasn't going to let that one bad decision define who he is as a person.' Coach Andy Reid says Hunt 'learned a lesson' and deserved another chance Head coach Andy Reid joined Mahomes in expressing support for Hunt's return, sharing his belief in second chances. 'He [Kareem] learned a lesson,' Reid said, adding 'Too many people don't get a second chance, and then they go back and they start doing bad things. They don't even have an opportunity to be successful. He did wrong. He knew he did wrong. You can't do that. Somebody's gotta teach you that you can't do that. He paid for that. We probably all run into roadblocks somewhere. Some more drastic than others. He had to start over and do it the right way.' Kareem Hunt says he regrets past mistake and wants a fresh start Hunt himself also shared his thoughts, expressing regret over the events that led to his initial exit from Kansas City. On the same podcast episode, he admitted he wishes he could change how he handled the incident. 'So upset about the whole situation. I wish I could go back in time and handle it a lotta bit different.' Since his return to the Chiefs, Hunt has been a regular part of the offense. Last season, he played in 13 games, rushing for 728 yards and scoring seven touchdowns on 200 carries. 'Perform in BBL': PAK coach Mike Hesson explains how Babar Azam can return to T20I squad after Asia Cup snub

Babar Azam and Mike Hesson (Images via Getty Images) Pakstan coach Mike Hesson has hinted that Babar Azam 's path back into the national T20I side could run through Australia's Big Bash League later this year. The 30-year-old has been sidelined from the shortest format since late 2024, with selectors leaving him out of both the upcoming tri-series against UAE and Afghanistan and next month's Asia Cup .'Perform in BBL': PAK coach Mike Hesson explains how Babar Azam can return to T20I squad after Asia Cup snub Hesson made it clear that while Babar remains a top-quality player, he needs to show progress in specific areas before reclaiming his spot. 'There is no doubt Babar's been asked to improve in some areas around taking on spin and in terms of his strike rate. Those are things he is working really hard on,' the coach said as quoted by the ICC. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! Babar's recent form has been inconsistent. He struck 47 in the first ODI against West Indies in Trinidad but followed it with scores of 0 and 9. His T20 record last year, of 738 runs in 24 matches at strike rates of 129.22 and 133.21, invited criticism for not being quick enough in a format where acceleration is crucial. Hesson suggested that Babar's best chance to make a statement will come in December and January, when he is expected to feature in the BBL. 'A player like Babar has an opportunity to play in the BBL and show he is improving in those areas in T20s. He is too good a player not to consider,' Hesson said. The coach also explained why others had been preferred in the current squad. 'At the moment the players we have, have done exceptionally well. Sahibzada Farhan has played six games (against Bangladesh and West Indies) and won three Player of the Match awards,' he pointed out. Mohammad Rizwan's exclusion was another notable call, with selectors opting to back batters who consistently score at a high strike rate. Poll What do you believe is the main reason for Babar Azam's exclusion from the T20I side? Inconsistent performance Other players performing better Hesson stressed the importance of rewarding recent form. 'We need a run rate that puts us ahead of the game. T20 is all about setting the game up and being ahead of the game all the time,' he said. Pakstan begin their Asia Cup campaign against Oman on September 12, before facing India on September 14.
