With 'Something Beautiful,' Miley Cyrus balances dance fervor and overly stylized pop
Life is not all glamour among the world's pop divas. After Céline Dion's health struggles with stiff-person syndrome and Selena Gomez opening up about her bipolar disorder, Miley Cyrus revealed on May 21 in an Apple Music podcast that she suffers from Reinke's edema. This rare condition has made the Tennessee-born singer's voice increasingly deep and raspy. Cyrus acknowledged the illness could affect her next tour, which has yet to be announced. Yet, the former Disney star (from the series Hannah Montana), now 32 years old, did not seem hindered during her televised performance in February for the anniversary episode of Saturday Night Live. With a powerful voice, she notably performed a duet with Brittany Howard (formerly of Alabama Shakes) of "Nothing Compares 2U", written by Prince.

For Something Beautiful, the aesthetic leans into 1990s glamour and fashion. The album cover features the pop icon transformed into a cabaret revue leader, dressed in an outfit designed by Thierry Mugler in 1997.

Max Fashion partners with Disney to launch Lilo & Stitch inspired collection
Max Fashion has launched a new apparel collection inspired by Disney 's Lilo & Stitch, ahead of the film's upcoming theatrical release in India, to engage fans. Designed for children, teenagers, and young adults, the collection blends the animated film's tropical setting with a playful aesthetic and seasonal designs. 'This isn't our first time working together, our relationship with Disney goes way back,' said Sumit Chandna, deputy CEO of Max Fashion, in a press release. 'Taking inspiration from cult classics always helps kids connect with the collection in a big way. And after so many incredible collaborations with Disney, it feels less like a partnership and more like a creative friendship- we just get each other.' This marks the ninth collaboration between Max Fashion and Disney, following previous co-branded collections themed around the Jungle Book, Disney Princesses, Star Wars, and Guardians of the Galaxy. The latest line features vibrant prints, breezy fabrics, and a summer palette of oranges, blues, greens, and pastels. The collection debuted on May 24 with a launch event at Megumi in Mumbai, including a themed runway walk featuring mothers and children. Actor Bipasha Basu appeared as the showstopper at the event. Now available in over 520 Max Fashion stores and online, the line aims to strengthen the brand's positioning in licensed youth fashion. 'It's a win-win for both the brands,' said Priya Nijhara, director of consumer products at the Walt Disney Company.

Disney's 'Lilo & Stitch' crushes Memorial Day debut in N.America
Disney's family-friendly "Lilo & Stitch" earned an estimated $183 million, a record for the four-day Memorial Day weekend, according to Variety. The film has already taken in an additional $158 million internationally, industry tracker Exhibitor Relations reported. "This is a sensational opening," placing the film among the top three Disney live-action remakes, said David A. Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research. Maia Kealoha (as Lilo), Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B. Vance and Zach Galifianakis star, while Chris Sanders again provides the voice of the chaos-creating blue alien Stitch. Paramount's new spy thriller "Mission: Impossible -- The Final Reckoning" -- the latest, and ostensibly last, in the hugely successful Tom Cruise series -- opened to an estimated $77 million in ticket sales in the United States and Canada. Gross called that an "excellent" opening, probably the best ever in the series. Ticket sales, however, need to make up for a huge production budget estimated at $400 million. In third, dropping two spots from its opening last weekend, was Warner Bros. and New Line's horror film "Final Destination: Bloodlines," at $24.5 million. Kaitlyn Santa Juana stars as a young woman who has to deal with the grisly aftereffects of her grandmother having long ago cheated Death. Fourth place went to Disney and Marvel's superhero film "Thunderbolts," at $11.6 million. Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan lead a motley bunch of misfits and antiheroes. The film has taken in more than $350 million worldwide. And in fifth was Ryan Coogler's vampire thriller "Sinners," raking in $11.2 million. The film has now earned $259 million domestically to become one of the highest-grossing R-rated films ever, according to Variety.
